And Jay Paterno as QB coach?

Is this some extra sweet stuff? Let me know. Naw I just like those two prospects.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Have to build the foundation, then the garage, before you try to park a ferrari in it.

You give me a Ferrari, I'll build the garage.

Next year prediction put me down for 6-10 if Hurts is the qb, I think he can run around enough to make some plays and get us a few more wins.

I am usually dead set against a LB in the 1st round.  But to show you how adamant I am when I say that Pitts is a bad idea, I would rather we draft Parsons.

Honestly we have so many holes, they just have to get the damn pick right. If they stay at 6 and draft a guy, he better be a cornerstone type player for the next decade. If Howie blows it, it might be the death knell for him here (though very doubtful).

To continue the Kyle Pitts discussion.  I know the big question is TE or WR.  IMO he can be either or but a lot will depend on what he runs and if he wants to put on more weight.  If you draft Pitts and he is capable of being either of these guys then 100% that's worth pick 6.

Mike Evans: 6-5, 230 lbs.  2020-70 catches 1006 yards 13 TDs.

Mike Evans was 6-4 231 and ran a 4.53

Darren Waller: 6-6, 255 lbs.  2020- 107 rec, 1196 yards 9 TD's.

Darren Waller was 6-6 236 and ran a 4.46 coming out of Ga Tech.  His spider chart compared most to none other than Mike Evans.  His issues were off the field however, nothing to do with performance.

Here are some Waller highlights from 2020.  You can see him matched on linebackers, corners and safeties.

Yep.  There seems to be an age/maturity /intelligence gap between sensible posts like this and the guys leading the Pitts at #6 charge.  It’s ridiculous to want a gadget pass catcher who will run a 4.5 (at best) #6 overall.  It’s almost like those morons are trying to build a Madden roster.  Out of all the prospects in the top 20, Pitts would be the worst pick.

At this point I care more about roster construction than I do any one particular prospect.  The Eagles have 4 picks in the first 3 rounds, and they need to hit on at least 3 of the 4 to be starting-caliber players for next season.

WR -- don't care if it's Chase, Smith, Bateman, Moore, Waddle ... even Tamorrion Terry or Tylan Wallace later on; just get one

CB -- Surtain Jr, Farley, Horn, Samuel Jr, Campbell, Stokes, Aaron Robinson; just get one

S -- Moehrig, Grant, Ford, Nasrildeen, Hufanga, Cisco; just get one

LB -- Parsons, Bolton, Collins, Moses, Surratt; just get one

IOL -- Davis, Humphrey, Myers, Dickerson; just get one

TE -- Pitts, Freiermuth, Brevin Jordan; just get one

I don't see any generational talent that's waiting to be snapped up at #6.  Any 4 of the above players in any combination doesn't really matter to me -- just get them and coach them up to be players.  Trading back a little and having 5 picks in the first 3 rounds would be even better.  Nobody should be that unhappy if the Eagles get 3 young starters from this draft.  Don't trade up and give away additional picks for a QB -- build the roster first.  If a QB is sitting there at #6 and you don't receive a decent trade back offer, I wouldn't be opposed to taking them (as long as it's not Fields).  Should anyone be crying if the Eagles choose an instant upgrade over Hurts?

The most important thing going forward is -- no more projects, no more reaching.  If they're going to move off of their board at a pick it should be because they can't believe a prospect has fallen to them; not trying to outsmart everybody and make a selection no one else is "smart" enough to make.

I don't see a problem.  Please do trade Ertz, Kelce will not be traded, doubt Cox would be but if you could get a 2nd -- go ahead.

F'n idiot Kempski would trade Dillard, a first round pick they traded up for and haven't even used yet, for a 4th or 5th round pick.  Even ignoring the deluge of OL injuries this past season that suggestion is pure stupidity.

Sirianni would be a candidate for coach of the year

We need to build the right draft board for us and the next 2-8 years.  Not a draft board based on what our division rivals might or might not do.  That's the same flawed logic when we took Dallas Goedert and we have a ton more holes than we did then.  We have more holes than Dallas and NYG.  We can't afford to grab a guy because we are afraid someone else might take him.  Pitts is match up nightmare in college football.  Not as much in the pros.  Fast TE come along all the time.  Big WR come along all the time.  We can't pick someone at #6 overall who has a / in their title.  Sorry, it's a dumb idea.  If he is being touted as a WR then why does it matter that Dallas doesn't have a TE?  Dallas would be stupid to draft another pass catcher in the 1st round.  NYG would be as well.  We would be insane to draft Pitts at 6.....We need foundation pieces...not window dressing.

We'll never be afraid of that happening because we know it does happen to us all the time.  Lurie even said so.  We always identify the right talent, but other teams always take that talent we identified before it's our turn to pick.  Remember?

Agreed. Guaranteed under contract for 2 more seasons. I would trade him for any less than a late 2nd/early 3rd, and that's only if Mailata's back checks out.

Does he help in the run game? Who do you want blocking a LB, Pitts or Chase? And how do 5 yard runs become 15 yard runs? Blocking LBs and safeties.

And when Lane's ankle gives out?

I wonder if Kelce would take a trade to KC for one last shot with his brother.  I'd miss that guy, but would be fine with that concept.

Austin Reiter, their center, will be a FA.

*Wouldn't trade him for less than a 2nd/3rd* -- made a typo.

Dillard's lack of positional versatility absolutely makes him tradeable, but definitely not for pennies. Between now and March 2022 a decision has to be made on Mailata, so that's another factor. If Mailata develops and his back checks out, he won't be cheap.

I'm not ready to put Lane Johnson in the ground just yet.

Yeah, of course I remember.  It's the 5 future GM's on the team.  But again, to draft Pitts because you are afraid that he might go to Dallas or NYG is insane.

No, you draft Pitts b/c you've decided he's more talented than Chase and a worse matchup nightmare for opposing DCs.

That's a scouting decision, but it has nothing to do with WR v TE, Pitts is not a TE, he's a WR/H-back hybrid, you're not bulking him up to 260 and turn him into a TE and take away his deep speed. That's what you do with Tyree Jackson, who is already 6'7 249, add strength and teach him blocking techniques, even then he's not going to be an in-line blocker. Which is why proposals to trade Goedert are silly. Instead, look for a late rd pick/UDFA or two to be stashed on the PS and developed as true TEs.

Who?

I'm still amazed that people still are so irrational they're willing to negatively grade Pitts because he's actually so big that he also offers the flexibility to play him at TE. It's like giving Mathieu a worse grade because not only can he play great in the slot, but he also makes a great safety

We can’t draft Pitts. He went to Florida. Aaron Hernandez went to Florida. That means Pitts has to be a murderer....

It’s been a few days since the "Pitts isn’t a TE, he’s an H-back” post. I almost forgot.

i think TEs are a position that's not valued enough, it's always a great receiver and running back. i think that's the reason why mcnabb was so successful despite not having great receivers because he had great TEs.

I'm beginning to think after this Wentz debacle, that any player that insists on being locked up long-term with a first contract, is probably better off being shopped immediately, and hopefully cashed in. We should only offer short-term, big money contracts. It leaves the team too vulnerable.
