This is the 3rd time I am asking about this guy.  Yet to get one response.  If ANYONE knows anything about this dude, please give some insight.  He looks to be a potential sleeper in the 3rd or 4th round.

Christian Watson, 6 4 and 200lbs.  The dude can fly but he is also big and seems decent at high pointing.  Seems to have good toughness after the catch.  The first highlight video doesn't show the aerial view.  If you go to the second of the two videos below, of Trey Lance, you can see his skills from the aerial view.

The reason you're not getting much on Lance is there isn't much to go off of for him. He flashed serious talent as a redshirt freshman last year, but against overall very weak opponents.  This year he played a grand total of 1 game against central Arkansas and was inconsistent.

He's a huge gamble as a first round pick. Lot of talent though.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

OTC is showing the Eagles at $43.1M over, trading/releasing Ertz, Goodwin and Barnett would cut that down to $24.1M

Does that include the carryover from last year?

Serious question, did read anything I said or did you just see 1 of the 2 videos showing Lance's face?

I did but I thought your reference to "his skills"  was to Lance since you were posting a Lance highlight video.  My bad.

Yes.

Yep.  Not much else they can do to get the other 30-32 million ( money needed to sign draft picks included ) other than restructuring contracts and continuing to kick the can down the road.

Here's an article from January by Jason Fitzgerald from OTC explaining the restructures of Alshon and Malik Jackson.

Quote

The trick the Eagles are attempting to use here is the post June 1 designation but to what I would assume is the maximum extent. Every year the NFL allows you to designate two players as a post June 1 cut which allows you to prevent any future bonus money from accelerating in the current league year.

However there is a caveat and it’s that you have to keep the players cap charge on your roster as is until June 2. So for the Eagles this would be a massive $18.49M for Jeffery and $13.6M for Jackson. That does nothing for the Eagles salary cap woes in 2021 since the savings won’t be realized at the start of the league year, forcing them to cut the players in February at dead money charges of $10.5M and $12.6M respectively.

I would imagine that what the Eagles did here was reduce the players salaries to the minimum (for the sake of easy math lets just call it $1M) in 2021 and add a 2022 league year salary that is worth somewhere around $20M. To ensure that the player is indeed cut and allowed to be a free agent there would need to be some trigger that occurs such as the 2022 salary completely guarantees on the 2nd day of the 2021 league year, forcing Philadelphia to cut the players.

Their 2021 cap charges in this scenario would reduce from $18.49 and $13.6 million to $6.49M and $4.6M, opening up a massive $21 million in cap space for 2021. When they June 1 the players to prevent the 2022 guarantee from kicking in the cap numbers remain at $6.49 and $4.6M until June 2 at which point they will reduce even further to $5.49M and $3.6M. The Eagles would then be on the hook for $5M and $9M for the two players in 2022.

Zangaro confirmed this on Tuesday

FWIW, Matt Jones’ inability to succeed had nothing to do with anything on the field.

One scenario I can see is moving back a few slots and drafting Slater, who could slide in at LG when Isaac moves to C. Stoutland should have a good sense of where Dillard is, and Lane, and Brooks and what he can expect from them after the injury cluster F of 2020. If they should draft Slater and Davis, that would be an indicator that one or more of those guys will not be 100%.

This depends entirely on Sewell going before #6. If he's there, grab him.

So, if you go buy Zangaro's numbers, then add Ertz, Barnett and Goodwin, the Eagles would only be $5.264M over the cap.

Well the fact he never played WR might have something to do with it. he was a Qb. Its not even close to the same situation as Pitts. Pitts is a receiver. So playing TE or WR is not much different to him. Esp since he was not a blocking TE. Its all about if he can win the matchups with route running and has the speed, burst and agility to at least be somewhat a threat on quick routes and downfield vs a corner.

So you're bending over backwards to add back a guy who falls down when he catches the ball, a guy who sat out , and another guy who takes 3 plays off out of 4 who granted by virtue of his position is probably back even if he starts wearing a dress and appearing nightly at Cheerleaders.

Simple question. Why bother?

I'm not bending over backwards to do anything. And where am I adding Ertz back to the roster? I included him in trade/cut category to get the Eagles under the cap.

OTC already updated the numbers though for both Alshon and Malik and they are still $42M over. Doing those 3 moves puts them at where you were a page ago, still $20ish Mill over.

I didn't check Alshon or Jackson to see if they added it in. Appreciate it.

Not sure what the heck he is talking about.  All the posts clearly talk about cutting/trading those players.

Sure it did. He had his fair share of off the field issues but beyond that he was a complete project switching positions and playing WR for the first time in his career.

Seriously, this was 100% working until they decided to blow it up. And, imagine that, they never made it to the Finals. Colangelos screwed everything up.

The goal is to score points, not have a 1,000 yard receiver.

Indy scored 451 points in 2020 with an 2nd rd rookie RB (Taylor), 4th rd RB (Hines) 2nd rd rookie WR (Pittman), veteran 3rd rd WR (Hilton), UDFA WR (Pascal), UDFA TE (Doyle), UDFA project TE (Alie-Cox).

Indy scored 433 points in 2018 with a 4th rd RB (Mack), Hines, 5th rd SFA (Grant), Hilton, UFA (Rogers), 1st rd TE (Ebron), Doyle

They did have 3 1st rd picks and 1 2nd rd pick on the OL.

Eagles scored 457 points in 2017 with Blount/Clement/Ajayi, Jeffrey, Agholor, T Smith, Ertz, Burton.

They did have two all pros (Kelce, Lane) and a pro bowl (Brooks) on the OL.

Generally, 400+ points put you in the top 10, though last year 400 points was the median, I think b/c defenses were behind due to the strange season. This will probably regress back to the mean this season. In five seasons, Doug cracked the 400+ level once, in 2017, with Reich as OC - Reich has done so two of three seasons in Indy.

Sirianni worked with Reich for three years, so it's reasonable to suggest he'll bring much of Reich's offensive philosophy "back home."

So a strong emphasis on OL, coordinating the passing attack and the blocking scheme, which means what Stoutland wants, Stoutland gets. If Stoutland is confident in Mailata and Dillard, and the medical reports on Lane are positive, I think that lowers the odds on Sewell and Slater, because you can get solid guards later in the draft.

The QBs on those three offenses, Wentz/Foles, Luck (last season) and Rivers (end of the road). Solid but not exactly elite.

There's much to be said about having a top 10 offensive line. I am not sure that Stoutland is sold on Dillard's or Mailata's potential or that Howie is sold on Lane's recovery.  Also, it looks like Dillard's potential is only at LT.  Mailata has only played LT.  If the team is unsure about Lane and the ability for Mailata to move over, there's certainly value in a pick like Sewell who could play inside and move outside.

I agree they don't need 1,000 yard receivers.  They can't have what they have and win.  If anything, the position of least value vs. need is CB.  I think O line and WR are the best bet.

Kyle Pitts played QB in college and is switching positions for the draft?
