Leave it to the Texans to boner this entire thing up then be forced to trade him for much less right before the deadline midseason.

Yup. Very likely could be that. I've read that Texans are trying their hardest to make him happy but he's pretty set on wanting to be traded

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

The knock on him is his inability to create plays off script.  If 1st or 2nd read isn't there, he's not very fast and struggles to improvise.  I don't really get it either, because he looks awesome from what I've seen.

What an odd knock on a QB. He seems to go through all his progressions really well.

Congrats on popping your mock cherry. Like other first time things, it’s a bit sloppy and disappointing, but keep at it.

His main knocks are he’s not very athletic and his arm is meh. If he has a clean pocket and has play makers around him, he can succeed. If he has to throw on the run and can’t plant his feet, his arm isn’t strong enough to get the ball where it needs to be. I think he will be ready to play fairly early but will have a limited ceiling. Probably more of a backup guy. I think a fair comp for him is Nick Foles.

Why don't you pretend you're his uber driver, give him some chloroform, and play Buffalo Bill with him like you do for all of your other first dates?

Put McNair in Lincoln Riley’s offense in 2020 and then do the comparison.  McNair was a transcendent player from an HBU school.   Hurts was a decent QB that played at huge programs that are loaded all across the board with talent.  Your accuracy issues with him might have stemmed from the fact that you were close the situation in Houston.  Houston wouldn’t be the first example of a fan base being overly critical of one of their own.  From an outsiders perspective, McNair was a superstar.   He was bigger.  Stronger.  And who knows if he was tougher, since Hurts has just gotten started.  But McNair was one of the toughest QB’s I have ever seen play.  I just don’t see it.

Fair enough.  McNair wasn’t that much bigger than Hurts 6’2” 230 to 6’1” 223.  Both do have RB size. Aforementioned Eddie George was huge for a RB 6’3” 240. Always thought he ran to upright but at that size and speed, who is going to argue.  Hated that he left the Philly area and went to OSU.

Seems like we received the short end on that trade.

Texans are just stripping their roster of any talent, and then expecting Watson to be happy.

I'm watching Kyle Trask now and I have to say so far he's my favorite QB. He makes NFL level throws every game. Navigates the pocket really well. Strong arm, accurate  and has nice touch. What's the general consensus on him? I like him more than Fields and Wilson. Lance I think still has the highest possible ceiling, but he's got the farthest to go before he's NFL ready. I could see Trask being ready to play by mid season.

Trask moves around better than Mac Jones, but both have the same issues, playing with great talent and neither have great arms.
Florida lost to LSU this past season and Pitts missed that game, Trask looked very average w/o him. Florida didn’t have Alabama’s running game this year, but they still had a pretty good o line.
That bowl game vs Oklahoma Trask was 16-28 3 ints and a rating of like 21.4, that game Trask was missing all of his guys.
 That was Spencer Rattlers game.

no those are the crap picks the 6ers had. those clowns and never seeing a finals makes the "process" a failure

You're not as smart as you think you are.

Payton never played a single game for the 76ers. He was traded on draft night for Saric, who did play well and shoots modestly above-average 3%.
Fultz and Bridges were drafted AFTER Hinkie was no longer GM and, as I stated, the Colangelos came in.

Try again?

The process was working.  They had serious building blocks - Michael Carter-Williams, Dario Saric, Joel Embiid, brought in Robert Covington, plethora of first round picks, including what turned out to be the 3rd overall pick in 2017...   Argue as you may, but the 76ers did NOT let Hinkie finish out his plan. They agreed to patience, and then gave up right smack in the middle The Process.  You have no idea how that turns out if they don't trade up for Fultz - which Hinkie had NOTHING to do with.

Anyway, for the Eagles: I'm shipping everyone out, 2021 salary cap be damned.

Zach Ertz? Love you buddy, anything higher than a 5th and you're out of town.
Lane Johnson?  Can I get a day 2 pick?  Adios.
Brandon Brooks? Day 3 pick for 2022?  See ya.
Fletcher Cox? Day two and I'll see you around.
Darius Slay? I was so excited to see you come, and I'll be so excited to see you leave. Can I get a 2022 3rd?

Kelce's gone when he realizes what's happening.

You blow it up. Don't do this half-arsed crap where you keep guys in their 30s who aren't going to be around for the next championship.

I'm grabbing Sewell if I can.  I'm kicking Dillard inside or trading him for a Day 3 pick.  I'm looking at more OL help in the second.  If I want Hurts to succeed, we've got to give him a pocket.  Humphrey to replace Kelce? Cosmi or Jenkins for the right side?  Davis inside?

I don't know about all that, but I do agree we need a stout o-line.

Pretty sure we can't ship out Brooks or Lane because of their contracts

Has anyone watched Greg newsome II the corner from northwestern? I’ve watched some highlights was gonna try to see if i could find some games of northwestern but i really like the kid. I think he is a 2-3rd round kid. Got good size at 6’1 190 and i think can add to his frame. He’s not ultra athletic but i think he has better than average and he is willing in the run support and is very aggressive. I didn’t love he has only had 1 ints in his career but i don’t think that’s necessarily a reflection of poor ballhawking skills and more northwestern’s talent around him that there was other places to attack and not take chances with him. Curious to see if anyone else has watched tape and can give more than ive noticed and could look up

Ok.  Hypothetical here.  Not saying it could/would/will happen.  Financially or theoretically.   What would it cost the Eagles to trade for Deshaun Watson.

Again, just for ish and giggles.  So relax.

It’s never gonna happen **** breath.

But... If I were the Texans (I don’t know the state of their roster real well) I’d ask for Goedert and 3 1st Round picks.

Edit: I’d probably ask for slightly more. Assuming they have a second round pick I’d ask to swap that with #6 this year then an additional 3 1st round picks. Throw in Goedert or Mailata on top of that.

No such thing.  Carson just got moved. It can be done. Brooks could be moved pre- or post-June 1.  Lane, post-June 1 trade.

Agree with everything except kicking dillard inside, I don't think he's strong enough or anchors well enough to be effective bat guard.

Though if one trades Lane then move Mailata to RT and keep dillard at LT

Figured here you've got Sewell at LT.  I want him as my  D'Brickashaw Ferguson for the next decade.  I question everything about Dillard, not just the anchoring lol.  But, then again, I would never draft another player from the PAC-12 schools of Washington or USC if my life depended on it.

It can't be done. They can't just get rid of everybody and still be under the cap.

Yes, they can.  You're talking about savings from Brooks that is more than the vet minimum (top 51 contracts vest/count against cap).  Same with Lane Johnson on a post-June 1.

I don't want Watson, I'll be interested in seeing how many points his new team scores v how many the Eagles score next year. Given the cost for a rebuilding team, I'll pass. Makes sense for a team picking in the 20s each year with a top defense, solid OL but no QB.

I think the Eagles will be close to 400 points if they add an elite weapon. The problem will be on the defensive side of the ball, it'll take 3 years to go from 20th or worse to top ten.

But the offense will have Sanders, Scott, [power back], [elite weapon], Reagor, Fulgham, Watkins, Ward, Goedert and ???

You can get the power back in the 4th or 5th rd, backup TE late rounds, SFA, or UDFA. So either #6 or #37 for the weapon.

Use another pick for OL depth and they're set.

Hurts doesn't have to be great to score points with an above average running game, numerous underneath targets, a scheme designed to protect the QB and a top OL.

It would be stupid to strip the roster, it's not like you're gonna get a bunch of 2nd day picks, and you want the veterans to stabilize the team so the kids can work their way into the lineup without being overwhelmed. Over the next two years, most of the veterans will be phased out, no reason to rush it and become one of those teams that always drafts high and the kids never work out. And the OL is key to Hurts' development.

No. They have to be under the cap in less than a month and half the guys you want to get rid of they will have to restructure just to make it happen.
