I could live with an offense built around Pitts/Reagor/Moore/Goedert.  Those would actually, together, be interesting weapons.  If you're going to do 12 personnel, that's the way to do it.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

True. I’m used to thinking like the roster building has to make sense which is pretty much thrown out the window at this point.

Off topic: It's pleasing to watch the Celtics crumble.

Was kind of hoping we were done with 12. Did Nick do 12 with Colts?

My 80+ neighbors, who don’t have computers are having great difficulty in getting their Covid shots here in PA.  I want to help them online because their doctor just keeps putting them off.  York is getting a mass vaccination site.  Anyone have any experience with getting an appointment at such a site?  Wellspan is running ours.

Having heard today that PA won’t even move to Phase 1B until June (when I elevate to 1A status), am I off base being pissed that PA is giving so many doses to out of staters? Only Montgomery and Allegheny Counties got more shots than the out of staters.  See the bottom of the county data here: https://www.health.pa.gov/topics/disease/coronavirus/Vaccine/Pages/Vaccine.aspx.

So much for my hope that by TC all the players would have been vaccinated. The numbers don’t track. 100 million shots delivered in March.  At that pace, even with two shots if 100 million shots are delivered a month, it sure seems like by June the US should be at 200 million people vaccinated. Considering kids are not yet cleared, that should mean the towards the end of July we should be closing in on vaccinations for everybody that wants one.  So how in the world can PA be saying it won’t hit 1B until June.  I have become used to pessimism from health officials but that sounds more like incompetence.

Caleb Farley and Rondale Moore would be 2 big time upside picks that we could maybe take with our first 2 picks, with injury history that definitely rear its ugly head here just because thats how those things go for us.

If Farley checks out medically and can do a pro day, he may just be the first CB taken.

We don’t needing any defensive players.  Let’s go with that.

Try living in Florida.

Worst offense in the NFL could use some attention before our defense.

Docs don't control or administer vaccinations.  Their doctor has no input over it.

Didn’t FL, in response to vaccine tourism limit shots to Floridians?  Yeah, coming from out of the country is worse.

No outside CBs other than Slade to speak of and Wallace and Epps are your Ss.  No fourth DE in a four man rotation.  Your back up DTs are McGill and Williams.  Who are your starting LBs. Meanwhile three WRs drafted last year, one the year before. And you want a munchkin WR and a tweener TE/WR first.   The shallow positions on offense are C, maybe and QB, definitely.  Just don’t see it.  Someday I will do an E45 draft of nothing but receivers.  Ever think our biggest problems in the passing game may be gone?  Doug and Press with a dose of Marty.

They look to their primary physician on this.  But if he is giving them guidance, I cannot tell.  He just keeps saying there are no appointments available, which until CVS and Walmart start administering shots and taking appointments makes me want to steer them towards the mass vaccination location.

A passing offense takes years to mature and develop.  The owner has acknowledged we aren't trying to compete right now.  Why do we care who our backup DT's are?  How does that matter for the future of this franchise?  LBs?  Who cares?

These are positions that can be plugged in when the rest of the team is ready.  It doesn't take 4-5 years to get a linebacker hitting on all cylinders.

Why get some LB's and CB's now who will be leaving in FA by the time we figure out our offense?

2nd year QB who you have to evaluate, so I'd draft enough offensive talent to put together a solid unit.

2022 is when you carpet bomb defensive players, patch and play this year with late round picks, UDFAs, SFAs.

Eagles should lose a lot of games 40-30, which will be fun.

They changed it on 1/21 but still include seasonal residency so everyone that comes down for 1, 2 or so months right now can get it. They also changed the rules to you have to be a health care professional or over 65 to get vaccinated. Teachers and other front line workers under 65 can’t even register. And not to get into politics but the governor is playing politics with certain areas receiving the vaccines. Long story short, it’s a mess too. Didn’t know PA was doing out of country though.

But that ignores that this is a strong secondary draft.  That is the weakest area of the team.  BPA but that includes focus on weak areas. It is like you want to lose games.

Let’s talk about PA’s 1A. Medical providers and over 65.  greend really needs to let me know how he and Ms. greend got a shot because from what he said, he is neither. A friend of the wife got a shot because she works for a large medical company, as a clerical type remotely for a year.  Geisinger gave shots to relatives.  We had board of directors getting shots.  Not exactly the "front line” medical providers I thought were in line.  I can see HE getting his shot as he was doing triage at the hospital but not in his usual role as an athletic trainer.  Meanwhile we freeze out Iggles_Phan as a teacher until June when 1B is reached?  Grocery clerks too.  Seasonal residency seems absurd.

No. First priority is to determine whether Hurts is the QB going forward. That means giving him another receiving weapon, a power RB and shoring up the OL. That won't take the entire draft, but probably 2 of the top 4 picks and a later one or two for the power back. The rest can go to defense.

If Hurts is the real thing, defense is the priority in 2022, if not, we'll have to get a QB, and that may mean a trade up.

How do you figure secondary is the biggest weakness of the team?

They were second to last or dead last in every major passing metric.  Average to well below average in every pass defense metric.

Another major learning point from this season...

The Eagles over-invested in Slay last offseason.  Slay is absolutely the best defensive back our secondary has had in years.  What did that do for us?  We had the worst overall secondary performance our defense has seen in years.

Why?  Our offense turned the ball over constantly and the players surrounding Slay sucked.  That’s not an endorsement of over investing in the secondary again at #6. The point is that one stud gets you no where.  It’s a poor use of resources.  You want 5 good but not great guys that can cover.  Not 1 stud, a couple decent guys, and 2 complete embarrassments.  Not 2 studs and 3 good cover guys...can’t afford those kind of resources in the secondary.

I don't necessarily disagree with that philosophy for team building, but our secondary was right at the league average last year.

I thought they were much worse in 2019.

JFC. Lower floor/higher ceiling.  On draft day I don’t think anyone was more ecstatic than you about the speed we added at WR.   Carson sucked last year and the OL was in shambles. Doug and Press sucked in passing game calls and enabling Carson.  All gone.  Yet are we going to give those draft choices that sophomore year to take the next step?  Hell no.  Let’s draft even more receivers.  OL, nah. DL and pass rush (the DL just won the Super Bowl) nah.  Going with Slay, Maddox, James, LeBlanc, Epps and Maddox because that plus UDFAs Riley, Arnold and Jacquett are your secondary is of course much less important than drafting a tweener and munchkin WR.  F the C position. Pryor, Herbig and Juriga are just fine on the line. F more than one QB.  F any secondary in the deepest secondary draft in ages. Nah, we need more receivers.  We should can Howie and hire you as GM tomorrow.

You better figure out a number two QB in that process so four offensive players and f the D, they get three, maybe four. Because, despite being a good first two day secondary draft, and having quality S pick after safety pick passed by Howie the last two years, let’s go with James and Maddox outside.  F it, there is always next year.  You and E45 on the same crazy train. Too much Ozzie.

No secondary (or for that matter, receiver or OL except Sewell I would take at 6 and not sure at QB) that I want at 6.  Lousy draft for six v ten, for example. If the Eagles traded down and gained picks in either 2021 or 2022, I would be okay. Caveat that Surtain could be a great pickup if his speed it true. Farley, with a medical checkout might as well. Couple either Farley or Surtain with a Gowan and a decent FS (several to chose from) and Wallace with the current DL and that stops like Tampa did with KC. Add The tweener and munchkin, meh. Yeah, I want our first four to include two secondary and on offense I want one IOL.
