I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

That's great news.  The only "question" in any of his scouting reports was whether or not he was "fast".  4.39 is fantastic for what he does and his skill set.

I already was high on him thinking he was around a 4.45 guy; so I like him even more now.  Could easily come into camp and be an immediate contender for X...fits that classic X mold and I think he will excel at the NFL level.  Would also be a great complement to Reagor at Z.

really? Why would people be questioning that?

I like Bateman a lot and have said he seems like the happy medium between Smith's lack of size, and Chase's lack of speed and seperation. Bateman has at least average size, and good speed. Hes the more well rounded prospect.

and he can play , ideal fit would be 34 team who mixes things up, up front

While we are discussing some older draft picks, here's my random Howie rumination of the day:

I never gave Howie credit for drafting Wentz when he was the golden boy, nor will I blame him for Wentz' intrinsic failures now that his name is dirt.  There are just too many moving parts that go into the success or failure of a franchise QB for that to be stacked as evidence that a GM can or cannot draft.  That was a franchise level decision.

Going back to other first round picks:

This is the narrative that I believe from 2012, based on whispers I've heard, the rumor mill and tea leaves at the time: AR was locked in a power struggle with Howie and was entering the hot seat after 2011.  He wrestled back control of the 2012 draft, as had been reported at the time (don't ask me for links).  Great draft?  Sure, but AR made a last gasp for control and the bottom fell out that season.  He was fired and the rest is history.  Personally, I don't give Howie credit for that draft.

2013: Now we are getting warmer.  Lane Johnson was the best pick, IMO, that ever happened under Howie's watch.  It was a weak top 10...everyone said it was a bad year to pick high.  Lots of OL talent at the top though.  Eagles went OL and got the best of a bad bunch.  We all know who Chip wanted in round 1, so Howie probably needs credit for this one.  When you get the best of a bad group, that's when it's time for a pat on the back.  Ertz?  You probably need to draw a line in the sand with Ertz and Agholor.  Whomever gets credit for Ertz gets blamed for Agholor, considering both were successful PAC-12 receivers.  I tend to pin both on Chip.

2014: Ugly.  Jordan Matthews has those Lowie possession power forward fingerprints all over him.  Marcus Smith was all Howie, to the point that Chip refused to play him out of spite (but seriously, he sucked anyway).   Huff was a peace offering, blame Chip on that one.

2015: That's a Chip draft.

After that, we all know who was making the picks.

"Scouting report speed" matters to me a bit.  That's the first blush opinion of a scout on if a guy is running away from people or not.

If 5 reports say speed is a question, even if he runs a 4.3, speed in pads is a question.  If 5 reports say a guy is lighting, you might want to keep him in mind as a high value sleeper after he disappoints with a 4.5.

I realize I just posted today that the 40 matters...and it does...but you need to exist on both sides of every argument if you want to stay ahead of the curve.

Those types of players need creative DC's.  While Schwartz did a good job of turning spare parts into a serviceable unit, he was extremely bad at taking unique asymmetric talents and maximizing their ability.

Those measurable will make everyone want to compare him to Aaron Donald.  But it takes the right defense to figure out what to do with him.   From what everyone says...he doesn't show those numbers on the field.

We may see some eye-popping pro-day numbers from players who spent a year training for track drills on their home turf.

I'd say that any players who sat out a year are graded on a completely different curve for pro-day.  Jamar Chase, I'm looking at you in your comparison to Smith/Waddle/Pitts.

You better figure out a number two QB in that process so four offensive players and f the D, they get three, maybe four. Because, despite being a good first two day secondary draft, and having quality S pick after safety pick passed by Howie the last two years, let’s go with James and Maddox outside.  F it, there is always next year.  You and E45 on the same crazy train. Too much Ozzie.

Just out of curiosity, did our franchise QB and entire franchise fall apart because our #2 CB sucked and we have poor depth at DT?  Or did it happen because our OL got old and he had the worst receivers in the NFL?

So should we be focusing on depth and secondary on defense as we prepare to ruin another QB?

Im interested to hear some Imortabhebhe workout results. He had a 47'' vertical back in the day. Hes added weight through his college career and is guessing he can still get about 44''. Good size listed 6'2'' 220lb and super athletic.

Figured here you've got Sewell at LT.  I want him as my  D'Brickashaw Ferguson for the next decade.  I question everything about Dillard, not just the anchoring lol.  But, then again, I would never draft another player from the PAC-12 schools of Washington or USC if my life depended on it.

I like Sewell as well I think he and Mailata could be book ends for the next decade.

Louis Nix III has passed away.

Louis Nix III was drafted by the Houston Texans in the third round of the 2014 NFL Draft. He played college football at Notre Dame. Nix called himself "Irish Chocolate.”

Just several weeks ago Nix IIi was shot at a gas station. He posted a scary video in the ambulance on his Instagram account.

Nix was reported missing the other day by his Mother. Today they found Nix III’s car in a pond around the corner of that same gas station.

Bizarre story. Sounds like he was being targeted.

Who are some WRs in the draft that I need to watch? Not the top guys.

Marsette From Iowa

Imatorbhebhe Illinois

late rd guys with upside

What’s the deal with Tamorrian Terry? Why isn’t he projected to go higher?

Just watched some more Terry and he’s blocking dudes into the bench and and he’s making tackles as a gunner. Seems like a nice X prospect here.

He’s a good player. Saw him a bunch live. Bad QB and boring offense limited him.

Ran the ball too much , if he played for Clemson or a similar team , he would be talked about more , and would go much earlier .he did have the dui too

Ricky Proehl’s son is a nice player too ,reminds me some of Cooper Kupp

TJ Vasher from Texas Tech  he’s like a 6’6 OBJ

Another sleeper type Jealon Darden North Texas. Small Slot guy. Had big time production last season. Like 1200 yard and 19 TDs.

Watched Darden a few weeks back. Fun player.
