I like Davion Taylor.

The presence of Taylor should NOT stop the Eagles from drafting LBs. We're not a talented roster, just take the best player.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

He has Eagles linebacker all over him, at least the old coaching staff.  Limited athlete but smart.  That's great and all but I want athletes that make plays and can change the course of a game.

6th/7th rounder if i can find a competent two down backer who will do well on special teams thats a hit

I dont hate this draft - just leaves a hole at safety

I think there’s something to giving the young players a chance to figure it out this year, that way if the light comes on for someone like Taylor or Wallace, we have a shot at a more balanced roster.

It helps that Taylor and Wallace play less valuable positions theoretically — Taylor at LB obviously and Wallace as a box safety.

How come people are sleeping on Terrence Marshall? I ask this because I dont recall ever seeing him in the mocks posted in here.

Hes 6'3'' or 6'4'' with good speed and RAC ability. Good hands... Remained highly productive after Burrow left. Success in slot and outside... Hes another well rounded WR with all the tools.

If  you want an X and dont take Chase in round 1, you might still strike gold with Marshall in round 2.

He’s always gone by the time our second round pick comes up in the TDN mocks.

That seems to happen to Roseman as well.

OK, I know the Kyle Pitts conversation is split 50/50 and we've discussed what he is...TE?  Mike Evans?  I just watched Pat Freiermuth highlights and then Kyle Pitts highlights.  After that, IMO, it's clear as day that Pitts is Mike Evans, Freiermuth is Dallas Goedert.  Pitts is 100% the guy I want at #6.

Watch Freiermuth first.  He's an excellent tight end prospect but will go much higher than I prefer the Eagles taking TE2.  He's physical and impressive.

Now watch Pitts.  He's a freak.  A weapon.  A mismatch nightmare.  Coaches are going to say, make sure you know who has Pitts on every play.

There are so many impressive plays but take notice of plays at 30 seconds, 1:22, 3 play sequence starting at 2:22 (against Tyson Campbell, a fringe 1st round CB), the hands catch on the very next play, then the catch, stiff arm and speed, 5:16 and 6:06 (the route, catch and a heckuva throw).

ahhh I see. hes their 6th WR on their rankings. Didnt realize they had that many going.

Crazy that Toney is ranked ahead of him. I wonder how he went from unheard of last year and most of this year, to 1st round as a super undersized guy with just good, not great speed.

The more I think about it, the more it irks me that Wentz was able to just dictate his way out of town. Not only did he get his wish in getting traded, he got to pick exactly where he wanted to go.

Lowie really has lost control.

It sucks but I honestly think Wentz wanted out because the majority of that locker room doesnt like or doesnt believe in him and Carson knows it.  Dont think it's any hostility between him and the FO.

Howie and co. probably thought that if the locker room doesnt like this guy how can we keep him.  Again not saying everyone disliked Carson but probably a good majority.

I don’t believe that for a second. Multiple reports of him not answering Howie’s calls. The locker room thing may be somewhat true but I think the vast majority of vets had his back.

Sure.

K'Von Wallace profiles as a SS; we still need a FS of the future.
Davion Taylor profiles as a WLB; we still need a MLB of the future.

I really, really want Moehrig in RD2. We need a young safety to build around in the worst way.

Could be, I'm not sure.  But I thought the reports were that the FO coddles him, especially Howie.

Eagles aren't competing for a playoff spot this year, so no reason to draft for need or immediate impact. And most rookies don't contribute much until their 2nd or 3rd season.

Gannon will probably value LB higher than in the past, though unlikely 1st rd (unless BPA).

Edwards is fine as a 2 down run stopper, same with Singleton, both would look better with a 3 down LB at WLB. So if one is available you draft them.

Taylor and Bradley are developmental projects with the speed to be 3 down LBs, but instincts, tackling? At worst good ST players, at best they emerge.

But that's the story with a rebuild, you keep all the good young athletes you can find, and see which ones step up.

Next year Gannon will have a better sense of who fits on the current roster, and can focus on a few spots.

Every Sunday we see rookies contributing, just never for the Eagles.

I thought that TE from Notre Dame, Mayer, was nicknamed Baby Gronk?

How come there isnt a TE nicknamed Baby Ertz?

I thought Surrat might be a good WR. Then he went to the senior bowl and couldnt win a 1 on 1 route. I never saw a WR who couldnt win a 1 on 1. Possibly the next JJAW. I found the next WR we will draft.

Hard to contribute when they dont see the field.

Not sure if that's on them because they arent good enough or on the previous coaching staff that didnt like to play rookies.

Because the majority of good up and coming college tight ends are good at getting YAC.  Ertz is an all-timer, Eagle great.  However, my one gripe with him and many have discussed on here is his lack of after the catch ability.  Look at his draft profile.  It wasn't something new.  Even at Stanford, he was an elite route runner but on almost every play you see him getting tackled either right away or within 5 steps.

Wont happen, but I was just thinking how a marshall/Terry combo would give us 2 tall, fast WRs on the outside. Could see Marshall X and Terry Z. With Reagor in the slot. Dynamic WR trio there. Would be somewhat similar to the bucs 2 big outside WRs.

Singleton will turn 28 next season and won’t be relevant by the time we’re relevant again. I’m not letting him stop me from drafting a guy I think is a long term answer.

What later round LBs you have on your radar?

Yeah. Time to move on though. To bigger and better

NFL draft model.  Draft impact players early, developmental players later.

Eagles draft model.  Draft developmental players early and later.

A little Terry on special teams here starting at about 6:42

Yup. I tend to take Richie Grant or Moeheig in round 2.
