meh. Wilson is not some cerebral QB with surgical accuracy methodically picking apart defenses. He makes a living extending plays and throwing up prayers long after a DB can realistically stick with even a mediocre NFL WR. I think thats a fairly easy offense to replicate.

Thank you, someone else that knows this. Also the reason why he takes a lot of hits and sacks.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

  Yeah.  That gun slinger Jalen Hurts.

That was the entire purpose of that draft strategy.  To make it work for almost any QB whether that's Hurts, or the next QB after Hurts sucks up the joint.  Look at how weak armed Dak has looked semi-good because of all his weapons.  He's got no arm. But he can't fail with all those guys around him.

Russell Wilson is building a potential HOF worthy career living on broken play hail marys.

With enough weapons,  maybe it can work for Hurts too. Or the next guy.

JFC.  If we take a TE, WR and RB with the first 3 picks I might quit.

Heres to hope

Or they can just sign Fitzpatrick, Newton, Taylor, Dalton, etc for the 2-4 million they are going to get.

What does that have to do with what I posted about Fulgham?

Threw the kitchen sink at weapons for Hurts in the beginning of this draft. No excuse for him not to succeed then. If he sucks, then the next QB will come in to a good situation. Next year youd draft him and build up his OL more. Here it is

Pitts/Goedert

Rondale Moore, Reagor, Tamorrion Terry, Fulgham/Ward

Sanders/Sermon

Thats a very potentially explosive, loaded offense. You can do this Russell Wilson style. Throw it deep and let those WRs make plays, or take off and run. Should be very tough to defend.

love the Tamorrion Terry pick!

Give me andre Cisco at 43 even if we need to trade up a bit and I could go with this. So trade up from 43 and get cisco. Then in the third pick up tamarion terry.

Who are some WRs in the draft that I need to watch? Not the top guys.

2 late round flyer types if you want them long TJ Vasher and Trevon Grimes both 6’5”ish, 215ish, projected speed 4.5ish. Not sure why lack of production on Vasher’s part but Grimes probably should’ve just gone to a different school since he was the no. 3 to Pitts and Toney, not enough balls. He did have that great play against Surtain. Vasher had a great 1 handed grab but thats why they call them highlights right

Listening to Caplan, he said the defense will be more like Zimmer’s than Eberflus.

Listened to Kempski’s podcast and maybe this was out there before and I forgot about it, but he said if Gareon Conley didn’t have those assault allegations around draft day he would have been the pick over Barnett. Conley is a FA and coming off ankle surgery. Could be a buy-low target.

Their takedown of how appalling the Eagles LB corp has been for 15+ years was quite something to listen to.  You get what you pay for, in the large parts but boy oh boy, it highlights that today, the Eagles don't need another 1st round WR in the draft.  The D is the hottest of hot messes.

So what are the basic characteristics of the Zimmer D?

I'd rather focus on fixing offense first anyway.

Per article on a vikes site , sb I believe

Key Scheme Elements of Zimmer's Defense

  • 4-3 base scheme, frequent use of 4-2-5 nickel package in passing situations
  • primarily press-man coverage
  • extensive blitz variations, including signature double-A gap blitz formation, but does not blitz frequently
  • Stop the run first mentality

I thought so until it was pointed out that there 2 starting DTs, 2 starting DEs + Sweat and nothing else. Alex Singleton at LB, a 2 down LBer in Edwards, a massive project in Taylor and nothing else. Slay at CB and a whole random parts, that are easily replaceable and 1 injured vet Safety and Wallace, and STers ahoy.

While massively changing the system.

What in the hell were the Eagles doing over the past few years on the D side of the ball?

I really don’t see any reason to bring in another name this year. Cap hell and just about zero chance that a backup would be preserving a playoff run from the bench. To say nothing of inviting another year of qb roulette.

I agree with you but I also don't see a quick fix on either side of the ball.  We need impact players all over.  No one on this team really is a game changer.  If one's available on offense, take him...if there's a defensive player who makes plays, take him.

Yup. This was true at the time of the draft.

CB was the #1 need on the team, then Sidney Jones tears his achilles and Conley has the assault charges. Both were likely in play at #14. I still think we'd have taken Conley.

Hard to bring these name guys into the mix, because they would all be better than the starter.

Probably some mix of Zimmer and Eberlus, man press with safeties on top, lot's of zone blitzes, A gap is a Zimmer specialty, more traditional 4-3, bigger DEs who can move inside on pass downs. Actually, it may feel a lot like Jimmy Johnson's defenses. Zimmer emphasizes coaching up players over scheme, and I think Gannon will take that approach.

If you like interceptions that much we should have kept Wentz.

Same as offense. Howie drafting poorly

taylor or brisett make sense but only if the cost is low

im more interested in the backup being a mentor than winning games

If we want to run cover two there needs to be a serious investment in the linebackers...especially an mlb/sam that can drop deep middle

maybe Collins is that guy

maybe thats where you employ a third safety (cough Chinn cough) and hope you can still stop the run with the front 4
