I disagree.  Part of developing a player is identifying and utilizing strengths. Something I think Doug and Jim failed at.  Seemed they wanted players to play to their offense and defense rather than maximizing talent.  Stout and Itsvan spent a lot of time at pro days.  I believe that their recommendations played into draft selections.  I suspect Peelle at TE did too.  Now Frajole spent time at pro days too but after Hicks, they kept skipping LBs early to Taylor on a non pro day year.  I think that goes to show that a combination of scouting and working out players works best.

I feel like we’re pretty much saying the same thing, except you’re conflating development of the player with calling plays that play to the players’ strength. I don’t believe those are the same thing.

It’s up to the position coaches to develop the players’ skill level. It’s up to the play caller to get the most out of that coached up skill level.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Very raw but like another Mailata.  I noticed him when I was scouting Elerson Smith. I would take either of them. May not last to 3.

Yeah he needs some work. Not a finished product. Skills are there he’s big strong and athletic with Stoutland here he can be coached to learn better footwork and hand placement.

I think what Original sin problem is he thinks I’m saying the guy is a slam dunk bonafide star but I’m saying he’s a later round sleeper that has star potential. Wether he realizes that potential we don’t know yet but I believe he’s worth a 3-7 round pick to find out

Such a deep CB draft , I think you see minimal  10 in top 45 .

Chasing receivers down the field.  Oh and getting injured.  But no.....let's keep throwing high picks at receivers....

In less drastic circumstances, I'd agree.  The D has no depth and no ascending talent on it.  The O can function as is with some cheap additions.

15+ years?  That’s nonsensical.  Bradham-Hicks-Kendricks was a solid LB group.  Hicks just couldn’t stay healthy and Schwartz didn’t know how to let Kendricks play to his strengths.

Injured - injured - nut case/not scheme fit (I jest).  One swallow doesn't make a summer.  The list of LB busts was hilarious. Mike Labinjo, Brian Rolle, Keenan Clayton, Tank McDaniels, Matt McCoy, Ernie Sims, Jamar Chaney. All the second coming, all crap.

LOL

Go ahead and figure out defense with 3 first round picks next year.

So Howie.  Strong draft for CB, S and IOL and Howie walks away with one but grabs two Edges in a weak DL draft and a JAG to back up Sanders. Ugh.

Welp, you just gave him the kiss of death, he’s getting traded by next week

Well he was apart of the incredibles and he was pretty selfish at times as mr. incredible.

I would picture Asante Jr as a slot CB at only 5’10 .... with NRC and Leblanc gone there would be room for him, although I also see slot CB as Avonte Maddox’s last gasp.

At worse he a Slot CB but make no doubt about it he’s an outside CB. True he is small but he can cover and he just gets it. Like a natural his instincts are incredible.

Just CBs or DBs?  Add in S and I would agree.

That's awfully clean.  Was he sitting on the couch serving a suspension when he wore it?  Lol

DBs , a good year if you need them .

I don’t see 10 CBs 😂

Although the value for CB gets better in the 2-3 rounds.

Lol. There’s some blue on the left shoulder. And some definite sweat stain on the front six. Hard to see in pics. I’m guessing also was washed

I rather enjoy being criticized, but being compared to Howie is where I draw the line.

Please tell that to some of the mock drafters in here. Frankly, I would be thrilled if the Eagles went 2002 this year.

What CB is worth a 6th pick? Trade back than I could see us taking a CB at like 15.

In 2002, we had a qb and an OL.  Also in 2002, a great defense was an acceptable vehicle to a title.

Times change.

Even with our abysmal track record of drafting WRs, I’d rather take our chances on Smith, Chase, or even Pitts, than draft a CB at 6. CBS are so hard to tell if they’ll make it at the next level. Every position is, but I feel like CB is the biggest crap shoot

Tbh they haven’t exactly been great at drafting CBs either over the last decade. Mills and maddox have been their best that’s not saying much. Then again they also have yet to spend a first on a corner since Lito

Farley would be a good pick in second ten as would Surtain. I would trade down from the sixth but all things being equal value from pick six to pick 16 is pretty equal in this draft so if you like a player at 15, grab him.

So of the QBs not Lawrence or Wilson and of the OL not Sewell, which are better than the CBs in the first round that will be available after 6.  Not receivers, QBs and OL because that is what you said. BTW, 2022 may not be a good QB draft class.
