Where did the idea come from that we’re going to be a two-gapping DL? Zimmer often uses a 1 technique paired with a 3 tech who shoots the gap.

Hargrave has shown to be a really good NT, so he’s a terrific fit.

It’s what Caplan alluded to on their pod today

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Wow that says something considering it’s a dry comedy. I didn’t care for that show because of the main character but Dr. Cox was hilarious. Calling all of his male subordinates by girl names is the type of humor I miss that will never return to mainstream TV.

I always enjoyed watching an episode here and there, but it definitely never ranked as one of my favorite shows.  It probably doesn't rank well against the others for pure cinematic entertainment, production value, or acting, but it's definitely the best insight into the field.  Dr. Cox was definitely the best character on the show.

I guess I missed that when I listened. I wonder if he misspoke. Zimmer is a 4-3 coach who uses 1 and 3 techs as well as double A gap blitzes. I can’t imagine he has his DL two gap much if at all. If anything, he’d let his NT two gap while the other three down linemen one gap.

We aren’t going to be a true two-gapping front.

Same with Eberflus. Indy did employ taller DL, which makes sense in today's game, if you can't get to the QB, get your hands up and disrupt the slants and crossing patterns. So does Minn.

I’m just guessing that’s what people are referencing. This is the quote

Quote

"This is going to be as I understand more of a read-and-react front like Minnesota. When you do that it's not about the wide nine; and by the way the wide nine is going to be junked. I'm not saying they won't play a little bit of it. [Mike] Zimmer's used it before I was told, but very little. Another fact that someone gave me from another team is a lot of teams use a small portion of the wide nine, they'll do it in nickel, especially if it’s say 3rd or 15 or more. Some teams will do it just to get a pass rush; you just want to get upfield.

All medical shows make me want to stay the hell away from doctors.

For TV, just let me work for minimum wage on the crew of any of Diners, Drive ins and Dives, Burgers, Brew and ‘Que or Man, Fire, Food.  After taking Charles Kuralt’s place in On the Road (I could never write prose like him), those would be a dream retirement job for me.

I’m not concerned. Linval Joseph became one of the league’s best pass-rushing 1 techniques, even if he played 0 tech some too.

I understand the sentiment, but the reality is that we entered most games last year with 0 starting caliber tackles, so it feels far fetched to say that we might have 4.

Dillard has 1 foot out the door and is dangerously close to being declared a bust.  Mailata still has much to prove.  And Lane, frankly, is done.

Sewell is probably the best overall prospect in the draft.  If it were light qb year, he’s a top overall pick kind of LT.

To sidestep him because of Dillard and Lane is crazy.

It’s a rebuild year, I say roll the dice with those 2. Dillard has hardly played and kind of early for Lane’s career to be snuffed out. You maybe right about those 2 but that should be determined by Stoutland and the med staff otherwise why spend a 6 on a 2nd spare tire. I’m still Chase or trade back to hopefully to 9 with 1 of Pitts, Waddle or even Smith there and pick up an early 3rd. Suppose to be a very strong OL class, take what it’s giving you and steal the rest. Be opportunistic

Oh ok, well then omit him for another CB or WR. No biggie

If we are so put off by 2-gapping, why did we support spending $1,000,000,000,000,00 on DTs over the last 4 years who combined for about 8 sacks over that same time frame?

I realize Schwartz didn't run 2-gap, but emphasizing a stout interior DL without getting much pass rush is the same concept.

We did?  Ive been pretty outspoken about how dumb that was.

you're 1000% correct. 5 was extreme.

Point was he wasnt a huge recruit going into Florida. Did ok his first year starting, and then he blew up.

His size and speed are on par with the other 2-3 guys rated around him. His hands is better then some and not all. His route running is better then some but not all and for all the reports he's the worst of 4 TE's at blocking.

If the kid from Penn state or BC played on Florida they'd be looked as a top 10 pick, but because they played with UPS drivers at QB they're going in the late 2nd.

Dont believe in the hype of a Tight end who played with a first round QB and a top 10 wide receiver.

Maybe Pitts doesn’t live up to the hype, but your process is about as bad as it gets.

There are surely questions regarding Dillard. He looked alright at LT as a rookie but awful at RT. He followed that up with an injury that took away his 2nd season. After 2 years, there's not much to go off except the potential that led to his draft projection in the first place.

Mailata has a lot to prove, for sure, but he has proven a lot in a very short time. He's already a starting OT in the NFL, very young, and still getting better. He has no more to prove than Sewell. In fact, Sewell hasn't done as much in the NFL as Dillard to this point, so he has just as much bust potential.

Lane is far from done. Sometimes Eagles fans get too caught up in pessimism. This is one of those cases. Yes, his ankle injury didn't heal properly the first time and he tried to work through the issue as long as he could. Now it has been surgically repaired with plenty of time to rehab and he'll be back. It was not a career ending thing. It was just a setback.

Sewell is a good prospect, but not at a position of need. Like all prospects, he has as much to prove as anybody else when he gets to the NFL. Dillard has to prove he deserved his draft position. Mailata has to prove he'll continue to get better. Lane has to prove he has recovered from the injury. Sewell hasn't even played in the NFL yet.

Just now, Bacarty2 said:

why because I believe the talent and skill around him made him better?

If Pitts played on PSU he'd be a 3rd rounder. If Pitt's played in BC we probably dont know his name.

Same reason I dont trust Trevor Lawrence and Justin Fields.

Justin Fields looked average, a lot, even though his backups were better than 95% of the country

The offense didnt skip a beat when Lawrence was out + if you watched his games the talent around him would turn a Behind the LOS swing pass into a 91 yard completion/touchdown.

Did you like Burrow, Justin Jefferson or Jamar Chase?

We'll just have to wait and see on that one.  Don't hold your breath.

Ok, so you like the Alabama guy who surely benefited from playing with a first-round QB, Heisman winning WR, top OL, possibly the top RB taken.

You see how ridiculous that is, right?

I don't like Chase.  6' possession WR with 1 year of any productivity (albeit exceptional) just sounds crazy for top 10, let alone top 5-6.

College football has become horribly asymmetric.  There are 5 schools that dominate recruiting.  Everyone else relies on finding the guys that fall through the cracks.  That makes it very hard to scout based on productivity.  Very hard to know if someone is a good player college player and mediocre pro-prospect, just surrounded by greatness...or if they are the next big thing.  That's the #1 negative against anyone from these schools.  But that's where all the talent is, so it needs to be parsed out.  In a way, workouts become more important to help do so.

That's the problem with scouting SEC powerhouses.

I'm assuming his mock draft looks like this

Saban doubled and tripled Pitts. To act like he’s a byproduct of his environment is asinine. Trask and Toney benefitted from him.

He doubled pitts up , and pitts still went over 100 , and drew 3 or 4 penalties on bama

i was watching some Mac Jones , and those 2 WOs just jump out , I think would take both over Chase

how would you feel about Slater as a guard? Brooks is injury riddled and it lets you slide Seumalo into center when Kelce hangs it up

Evidently not.  I'd guess he had a ceremonial title and little more responsibilities, but no real career path laid for him
