I absolutely hate the idea of waking up Friday April 30th with 3 starters at Left Tackle.

Well, last year, we woke up to a 2nd round QB while we skipped all kinds of real needs....thus nothing should surprise any of us.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

We’ve started on the tight end factory too. It’s more of a small side business at the moment

I wish we'd try a little bit harder to be a LB factory.

How about at guard? That's where I think we would play him, particularly if Kelce retires. Isaac goes to center, Brooks and Sewell would be an awesome tandem. I've see Sewell compared to Ogden or Pace but that's absurd. He's nothing like them. He's - what? - six  inches shorter than Ogden, five shorter than Pace, IIRC. The comparison - physically - to Ogden is Mailata. Sewell compares, IMHO, much more closely to Quentin Nelson or Zack  Martin. I also think he is position flexible.

Spending pick 6 on a guard yuck....I know the Colts took Nelson at 6 but still.  With everything we are lacking pick 6 on a guard..yuck

Wait. Hadn't you heard?  We can draft heavy offense in this years draft and become the Chiefs.

How did their bandaid secondary do in the Super Bowl?

Without looking it up, I'm pretty sure Schwartz defenses were good as per DVOA rankings. I'll ask @ManuManu for help here, I seem to remember him posting the stats. There's not really such a thing as shut down defense anymore, you can easily win with average.

The Eagles were top five in DVOA in 2016 and 2017. They were average to below average the past three seasons. I don’t have time to look up the exact numbers.

I just don't know what makes him a sure thing.  He played 7 games as a freshman, got hurt and then obviously played and dominated his sophomore year.  I'd be hesitant to call any player that sat out last year a sure thing.  We have no idea how the year off impacted their growth.  I feel the same way about Chase, we have no idea.

He graded out high in pass protection but so did Andre Dillard, and he did it 3 consecutive years.

That’s just how down this draft is. After the big QB goes it’s all a big time crap shoot. Most drafts are but this year there just isn’t much talent.

Eagles were strong up the middle. Cox-Logan&Jernigan/Bradham-Hicks/McLeod-Jenkins.

are we under the assumption they’re just going to move seumalo to center if kelce retires? I am not so sure that’s a given. When they worked out Jack Driscoll they worked him out at center. I’m not sold on the fact the Eagles just move Isaac seumalo to center when Kelce retires. They might go another avenue where they try to find another center. Do not get me wrong there’s a chance they move Isaac seumalo to center but I don’t think that’s a given like people are making it out to be

with Sewell I believe he was a really good guard in high school so he could play that position and probably do it at a relatively high level. I’d take Sewell at 6 and be thrilled. It might be a bad comp but I think the type of career he has is at left tackle and I would say a career similar to Ronnie Stanley

Quentin Nelson was drafted sixth overall. If he's not the best OL in the league, he's top 2 or 3 and the Colts' OL, if not the best in the league, is certainly top 5. That OL came together when they got him.

Oh, i get it for sure.

Mailata and Dillard (pre RT experiment/injury) have shown me A LOT more potential than Reagor, Hightower, Watkins, JJAW, Fulgham and Ward combined at WR.

If the draft is such a crap shoot I'd much rather take that shot to improve a position that has shown little potential than the position that has shown promise and depth.  Keep in mind they still have Lane for another year at least so you're risking having 2 1st round picks on the bench (I'm not sitting Mailata).  Then you have Driscoll and Toth as well.  Tackle IMO has too many pieces.  Bringing in 1 more, despite his potential isn't smart.  He looks good, I like his film.  Mailata has been dominant against NFL players at times.  Yes he has more to go but I'm putting my money on that guy instead of a guy who hasn't played in a year and dominated the PAC-12...Dillard did too.

Tra Thomas, Todd Herremans, Jamaal Jackson, Shawn Andrews, Jon Runyan. All college OTs.

Most NFL OL played tackle in college, because they were the best athletes.  Jason Peters didn't, though. He played TE.

I edited my post before you responded.  I love Nelson and when I compare him to Sewell it isn't even close.  I don't want to take a tackle at 6 just to change his position.  No thank you.

Shots fired.

I'm on board to trade down as much as we can in the first and get a guy like Kwity Paye late. I know a lot of you are set that we need a top 10 pick, but this team is far from being good. Get as much young, cheap talent in here as possible.

IF Sewell is at 6, I would be good with taking him. Kid is a bonafide stud at a major position.

I dont want to go past 12

what i really want is to swap with the Lions and get #41 out of them, but I am not yet convinced they will be in the qb bidding war...

drop to 8 and get #39 out of Carolina? love it.

I love it too, but I'd try to drop again and pick up more picks in the second/third round. I don't want to pick super late, but you better believe if I can still snag someone like Paye at 18 and get extra 2s and 3s I'm doing it.

If they drop to 8, I think the question becomes whether they can drop to 12 because SF wants to take a QB.  It would be great to end up with 39 and 43.  I think I would think differently of Howie for at least one day until he messes up all 3 second round picks.

I really don't think the Eagles will be able to trade back from #6.
