I dont want to go past 12

what i really want is to swap with the Lions and get #41 out of them, but I am not yet convinced they will be in the qb bidding war...

drop to 8 and get #39 out of Carolina? love it.

Doubt the Lions are in the market for a QB.  Makes too much sense for them to give Goff a shot.

I'm fine with dropping but I would prefer to stay ahead of the Giants and Cowboys if possible.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I really don't think the Eagles will be able to trade back from #6.

They absolutely can with all the teams needing a QB.  Question is how far back they would have to drop.  Unless they get some monster haul I don't want to trade too far back.

oh i disagree there. i think their will be multiple bidders looking at a qb

That's assuming a QB slides to 6. Add in the fact the teams that need a QB might figure Eagles or Falcons are going to go QB so they jump them with the Dolphins or Bengals. The wildcard is probably Lance and if teams are willing to trade up to get him. I don't think that's a sure thing.

Come on its obvious.  The QB factory failed so now we are known as the Left Tackle factory.

I rather be a LT factory than a QB factory

At least Stoutland knows what he's doing

Meh. It really seemed like it was just one by name. The gameplan was horrible this season so either he wasn't part of the bad game design or he sucks at it

My guess has been QBs go 1-4. Falcons could accommodate Trey Lance sitting for a year.

Some folks are on the Mac Jones top 10 hype train too. I'd personally be shocked, but Daniel Jones also had no business going top 10.

It depends how the board falls. I don't think it's going to fall in a way that favors them. IMO the first 5 that are going are the top 3 QBs, Sewell, Chase. That leaves them with hoping someone is buying the Pitts hype or someone that moves up for Lance. I don't think Lance is necessarily a prospect you trade up for. It's a weak top end draft which to me means the one position that has some top end talent, QB, will go first. There's no stud DE or CB to push a guy like Fields down the board.

Calvin Johnson ran a 4.35 40 with splits near identical to Pitts.

For comparison’s sake, Tyreek Hill ran a 1.50 10-yard split at his pro day and John Ross ran a 1.49 10-yard split

Kyle Pitts at #4. Fits exactly how they will want to play. Pitts/Julio/Ridley would be an incredible trio.

I'm all for it. Kick someone good down to the Eagles and prevents Howie from blowing the pick.

Did the pick at least take Howie to dinner first?

I don't want to say never, but this will likely never happen.

1.50 is stellar, almost unreal.

1.50 and 2.58 are bizarre numbers for someone who is 6'6".  Long frames start slower and are generally faster later on in the sprint once those big strides are turning over.

(Comparing Pitts to a WR with average size here)...1.50 is an elite first 10 yards...running 1.08 over the 2nd 10 is mediocre.  Just weird that someone with his stride could be so, so fast over the 1st ten and then actually lose it over the next 10 when his stride is opening up.

Not to be too critical of Pitts, but an absurd 1.50 over the first 10 with a more reasonable 20 yard split probably means they were generous in starting the clock late after his start.

Yeah that's possible.  The way I see it is there are at least 5 QBs that will go in the first and I think at least one of those 5 will still be there at 6.  If the Eagles aren't in love with that QB then they should have a chance to trade down.  We will see though, less than two months away at this point.

Tony Pauline, who is plugged in with the Eagles, has us linked to Jaylen Waddle over Chase/Smith 😲

Insanity (and I am a waddle fan)... Waddle has elite speed, but he is not even close to the level of Chase/Pitts/Smith overall

Someone will want to trade up to 6, as each year the draft will be produce shocks and someone will fall. Plus of course, the way the college game is forming, good quality WRs are available in each draft. You cant rely on it, but the context is certainly there.

This year feels like a meat and potato sort of draft where you build the foundation for the next iteration of the Eagles and take next year as the sizzle draft where you have picks and cap space.  It doesn't sate the appetite, but longer term, it's what I think they should do.

He had us linked to Hamler last year too. Maybe he knows something or he's going to link any speed guy to the team.

I could have easily seen us take Hamler with our 2nd rounder last year, given we also spent 2 other picks on WRs. Taking Hamler at #21 last year would have been rough.

Here we go with the blue chipper line again.  Who do you consider a "blue chipper" in the top 10 other than Sewell and Lawrence?

My original point was there is no fool proof way to build a roster. There's been arguments in here that all top 10 QB's usually suck to it absolutely it can't be a WR to no way they can draft a LT etc etc. All of that is overthinking it with how sad this roster is. If they think one of the QB's is a franchise guy, you take him. If they think Sewell is the next JP, take him. If Chase is left and you think he's a stud, take him. Everyone blames Howie for overthinking it and trying to be cute but then overthinks what every pick should or shouldn't be. I don't care who it is I just want them to be actually good and worth the pick.

to a thought?

I'm not too worried about the draft.

As far as OL, in Stoutland we trust, if he says someone is worth #6, trust the guru.

Sirianni knows WRs, I'm more comfortable with him advising Howie than Doug.

As far as QB, comes down to 4 QB coaches (Siri, his OC, his TE coach and Johnson have all coached QBs) and how they evaluate Hurts v the QBs in the draft.

Rocker on DL, Gannon on DB, the only position coach with limited experience is the LB coach, and Gannon will probably make that call.

The reason the coaches should be involved this year is this staff was chosen b/c of their ability to teach up players, so you want them looking at prospects from that perspective, especially when it comes to interviews. I want them targeting guys for trade downs that might be good value.

You and Howie in the same frame of mind when it comes to the draft.  No wonder he sucks at drafting.

And again.  Blue chippers or pro bowls aren't always the path to a rebuild.  I'd rather have numerous good young starters than one "blue chipper".

That's literally my point, there isn't just one path to a rebuild. If they can trade down and get a bunch of good young pieces, great. If they are forced to pick at #6, I hope it's someone that can actually be a stud whether it's OL, QB, DB, WR, DL (although not this draft). The only two positions I would completely write off in the top 10 are TE and RB.
