I suspect Gabriel is still mostly a down field threat right now. But yes, big fan of his in the draft. He is good, and he is going to be really tough for years. WR production is often hit/miss depending on scheme/QB play. Davis was getting benched for John Brown. We see it with the Eagles. Nelson Agholor leaves Philly and blows up. All our WRs struggle to produce.
January 9, 20214 yr I’ve seen Davis, Pittman twice, And Diggs of course all make catches in the 1st half of this game that no receiver on the Eagles would make if they were given 100 chances. But sure, let’s pass on Smith or Chase to draft defense. Real smart.

Moss and singletary have been serviceable but Blount, ajayi and even clement (in the playoffs was good) are a big upgrade. I agree. The 2017 Eagles were a better seem. Just see some similarities.
January 9, 20214 yr Does that touchdown count for the Bills? People in the blog have said that rushing TDs for QBs are bad and don't work in the playoffs.

I think the connection between him and Allen hasnt been consistent because Allen isnt accurate. At least not down field yet.

Schwartz ran a perfectly fine defense, with the major glaring weakness being a lack of turnovers. In this day and age in the NFL, defenses should really only be looked at how many turnovers they can generate

Well when your QB is 11-16 (69%) on the day it tends to prevent defenses from being able to zone in on just your running.

But, please stop trying to make this about something that NO ONE has said. No one said that it should have been blown up after the Super Bowl. But it absolutely needs to be blown up now, due to all the bad moves since the Super Bowl. WR - They decided to move on from Torrey Smith after the Super Bowl. Have they done anything to improve at that position since then? Mike Wallace... at least that was a mere one year deal that was a complete failure. (And please stop acting surprised when 30+ year old WRs get hurt and can't play... its not surprising, its pretty much shocking when they don't.) So, they move on from Mike Wallace, and then bring in Desean... ok. Trade a 6 for him. I wouldn't have done it, I'd have waited for him to be cut (which would have happened), but they traded. Fine. Then just use him on the contract he already has... because acquiring that contract means you can get out of it without any dead money on the cap. But, instead of seeing what Desean has, Howie essentially pad him like he was a free agent, with copious amounts of dead money. In place of Mike Wallace in 2018, maybe they could have looked to bring in Allen Robinson, who is just a far better player than Wallace... or roll the dice on Sammy Watkins, a 25 year old speed guy, not a 32 year old speed guy and resigning Jeffery. Maybe bring in John Brown (29) in place of the aging Desean Jackson. The Jets tendered Robby Anderson at the level of a 2nd round pick... might have been a better move to trade a 2nd round pick for him than a 3rd round pick for Golden Tate... just sayin'. Point is: They decided to 'blow up' the WR position opposite Alshon Jeffery, and have failed EVERY YEAR to find a suitable option. And the other side, he doubled down screwing up by restructuring Alshon and now they are stuck with a big cap hit... that will carry forward to 2022... when he could have been out of it this year, if he made the right move with Alshon after 2018. CB - That was an issue during the Super Bowl. They resigned ACL recouperating Ronald Darby to a $6.5M one year deal. at least it was a short commitment. Drafted Sydney Jones... drafted Rasul Douglas. Lots of whiffs, then put big money AND a 3rd round & 5th round pick into a CB who's expiration date is about to come due. Who could they have brought in? Trae Waynes, Kendell Fuller, Mackenzie Alexander... all for less money (combined) than Slay, and wouldn't have cost a pick. Yes, Slay is better than each of them. But, when you have one really good CB, and a vacancy opposite him, teams don't have to challenge the really good CB. And then sadly, when he was dinged, they kept him on the top WRs, and got roasted repeatedly to the detriment of the team. Might have been better to man him up on the lesser WRs, and let the defense double the studs instead. Malik Jackson was their answer to letting Chris Long go (he wanted to come back, they decided not to) and they paid a TON of money to Malik Jackson, unlike the money they put into Chris Long. And now they are on the hook for $12+M for Jackson next year... whether he's on the roster or not... fortunately (sarcasm) Howie was able to kick some of that to the future with his new fancy restructure. STUPID. The stupid wasn't in acquiring Jackson, the stupid was in how much money and how much commitment they made to him. It should have ben a 1 year prove it deal, or look elsewhere. Brandon Graham... hero of the Super Bowl. His contract was up after 2018. He thought he was gone... it was plain as day. And most fans thought so too... But then Howie decided to back the Brinks truck up. Resigning Graham was the right decision. The structure of the contract is the issue. It was too rich, and the structure is BRUTAL. He's due $17.9M against the cap this coming year, and if cut, he still counts $17.2M. Of course, Howie could get cute with him and push a ton of that to 2022... Yay! Hamstring the future because you didn't have the backbone to tell Brandon he needed to come back at a discount to stay. A "Chris Long" type contract for Brandon, with a bit of a bump because he's a much better run support player would have made more sense. The structure Howie came up with was basically a 2 year deal costing $26+M. That's nuts for a 31 year old DE. Now, he's a 33 year old DE and they are on the hook for $17M more. I could go on, but there's no point. The issue is bad drafting - its not about the lack of picks, its about the lack of good picks... and the free agency and trades Howie has made have put the team behind the 8 ball of the salary cap. Its just a gross set of moves... none of which made sense at the time to have any type of eye towards the future. He didn't have to 'blow it up' after the Super Bowl... he needed to be smarter about how he worked to maintain it. He didn't get the Super Bowl roster by signing players to big money deals... but by signing them to small, easy to get out of deals in case of failure. Then, after the Super Bowl, he made foolish moves that have dug the hole to where they are now. WR has been a disaster each year since the Super Bowl. Same with CB. And it wasn't about not blowing it up, it was about actually fixing it, and he's failed... even now 3 years later, its still a mess... a bigger mess... that he created.

They played 3 of the worst teams in the league and Dak Prescott had a bum shoulder when they played dallas in week 16. Otherwise you likely do not win the division even though it was awful in 2019. You could see that the team even without the injuries was not good enough to win you another Super Bowl and we were going in the wrong direction. Again i said this back in March and April. It wasnt that hard to see the team was aging and going on the wrong direction even if they stayed healthy. Only people who didn’t want to believe it were those still stuck on 2018 and 2017

When he came out that was one of the reasons scouts really liked him was because of the arm strength. His downfall in college was every time they played against better competition he really didn’t look good and they weren’t overwhelming big 5 conference power houses. And his accuracy was a big issue. The bills have been able to correct that this year. I’m curious to see if next year he’s able to sustain it at a 69 percent level because his first two years he was below 60.
January 9, 20214 yr Good job by the colts on that third down to get the stop. Bills (and cardinals) love to call that play on third and short. They read it perfectly.

We've seen guys with ok to good arms still throw well across their bodies like Allen does (Wilson, Murray, Watson, etc.). Knowing when/where to do that is also important. Carson used to be one of those guys 😪
