The Eagles have the least cap space in the NFL projected for those years...

Projected Cap space in 22 is 43M and 109M in 23. Per overthecap.com. That doesn’t include what the tv deal is going to make it increase.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I have to say...Howie's got some pretty good contacts in the media.

They drummed up the Wentz trade talk and inflated the offers that were out there.  Now, right on cue, the Ertz trade talk is heating up (online) with teams calling the Eagles...probably a last cast into the ocean for a bite before cutting bait and releasing Ertz.

This is unrelated to the Eagles' cap situation relative to the rest of the NFL, which is all that matters.

After the Dak deal were 31st in both years.

Cowboys: 2022 over 3M, 2023 under 36M

Also the rest of the NFL has a lot more contracts to give out over the next 2 years compared to us.

Saints are projected worse than us as well in both years. And so will a few of these teams that are about to pay their QBs.

You guys stress too much. Jets always have a ton of space. It’s working out really well for them.

EDIT: we are 25th in 2022 and 28th in 2023. Going into Free Agency next year I bet we are in the top 15.

A. Not according to Spotrac

B. I’ve always said teams should strive to be middle of the pack in terms of cap space. Being top 10 in cap space is not good.

C. I’m not stressed at all. But them being "fine” in 2022 is overstated. They will be in better shape compared to this year, but will still be in the bottom 5.

According to OTC we are 25th in 22 and 28th in 2023. And that will change drastically as teams start giving out contracts before free agency next year. The players and agents are holding off because the low cap this year.

It will also change when the Eagles restructure Johnson, Graham, Cox and everyone else they haven’t yet.

I get the cap. I’m not panicking over next year. I’m also not acting like it’s a one year fix.

Also include goedert, mailata and Sanders extensions into that so it’s likely less and they haven’t finished restructuring other contracts which will also bring it down.

As I've shown, it's unlikely we sign more than one major FA in 2022 and maybe two in 2023. Plenty of cap room for that and extensions.

In the end, it comes down to player development.

Greg Ward is the kind of player bad teams have in their starting lineup, and good teams cut from their roster.

the whole Greg ward conversation started 2.5 months early. Usually this is a June convo.

We are gonna have a ton of space in 22/23. With the new tv deal and coming out of the pandemic the salary cap will jump to at least 220M. This is a one year problem even with kicking the can. Not having Wentz and having Hurts on a rookie 2nd round contract is huge.

Agree to disagree.  The cap is an equalizer- what matters is being relative to other teams.  The additional cap room goes to the entire league.  I don't want to carry a dollar more into 22 than i have to.

Haven’t checked in for a bit. Who are the consensus wants if they stay at #6?

I think far and away my favorite outcome in the first is coming away with Sewell. It's unlikely he gets past the Bengals of course, but Sewell is the player I'd like most.

LOL

Hey to my credit I started some Jaylen Waddle discussion this week as an alternative.

Listened to Avant’s podcast, and I came away feeling really good about Reagor. It’s a must listen.

The biggest takeaways: He wants to be great, but he’s raw. He said once he knows what he’s doing out there (knowing coverages, leverage etc) he’s going to be really good. Avant- said he got pissed at him a couple of times because he quit on routes because he didn’t expect the ball to come his way, but that he ended up beating the coverage and the throw was made to open him up more.

Hope so

I mean having Jerry for a pop pop has to be disappointment enough, right?

Greg Ward reminds me of Reno Mahe

He has absolutely zero shake to him after the catch. He might be the worst receiver in the NFL after the catch.

And before as well

Greg Ward is much better and more impactful player than Mahe was.  That’s just silly.

If we put Mahe on the field for 100% of the snaps and gave him the most targets on the team, he’d have had a bigger impact too.
