4th quarter TD catch in the first Giants game to bring the Eagles within one score. 

4th and very long TD catch against the Packers this past season to bring us back into that game. 

4th down TD catch against the Cardinals to bring the game within one score. 

3rd down TD catch against the Cardinals to being them back within one score again. 

 

And a large number of late game 1st down catches late in games over the last two seasons.

Sorry, we were not winning that game, and the Packers played prevent.  Catching a TD to make a game 23-10 for a 3-8-1 team is not clutch.

I believe you were the one that posted the articles about Pederson adjusting the routes to help Wentz.  I was pointing out that Ward was running the RB routes a lot last year.  Ward doesn’t decide on a 5 yard in, that is the play called.  It seemed to be the only distance Wentz could hit with some consistency last year.  Part of that was the OL and part was regression of the QB.  I know you and I disagree on Ward and I don’t want to even attempt to change your mind.

If only Howie can quit trying to outsmart the board.  BPA measures the quality of the player and the needs of the teams.   Way I look at it is we have invested in five players who should be able to play the slot, maybe six with Watkins.   We have three who could possibly play the X, three that can possibly play the Z.  The new coaching staff develops WRs and supposedly focuses on what the player does best.   That could mean a active four to five WR rotation.   I wouldn’t grab a WR unless they are clearly the BPA at this point.   
I fully expect Ward, Reagor, Hightower, Watkins to be better this year, just from maturing at their positions.   I no longer think JJAW will make it.  Fulgham is an enigma and I don’t know what to expect from him.

They were right back in that Packers game.  Soon after Reagor returned a punt return and it was an all out game again.  Anytime a player can pick up a first and even more so a TD on 4th down that is clutch. 

 

 

 

And you're wrong, a catch on 4th down regardless of the half is clutch, especially when your team desperately needs to points due to trying to come back in a shootout.

Only thing I remember about Avant was he had pretty good hands and he threw a nice block on DeSean's miracle punt return vs the NYG.  At least I think it was him.

I may be Ward’s biggest fan and I like the hands comparison to Avant but Avant was a great route runner and had really good body control.  He was also a few inches taller than Ward.   I suspect Ward will continue to improve on route running and body control but he isn’t Jason yet and may never be. If only Jason had speed.

Am I trying to say Greg Ward was better than TO or something? Was Avant some all pro star and I somehow missed it? 

No I'm comparing two players of similar talent levels who play/played the same role of a slot possession WR on the team. It isn't trolling to hold the opinion that Greg Ward is better.  He's certainly better than Avant was through his first two seasons. 

 

I said the Eagles would be wise to sign Ward to a super cheap deal for several years and everyone loses their mind as if he's this completely incapable WR that has been screwing us with constant dropped passes and follies.
