Yep, I will as well, to an extent.  I won't be following their games and rooting for them to win, etc but I typically like seeing Eagles players do well (or at least not struggle) after they leave and Wentz is no different.  If he can get his career turned around it would be a remarkable story, imo.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Makes sense.

I wonder why some people assumed they would release him?   Other than this past season, Ertz was a top 3 NFL TE for the better part of the last 5+ years.  He's still under contract so the logical move would be a trade, imo.   And I'm sure the Eagles and Ertz will work something out in regards to possible trade destinations, etc.

Based on the flood of Free agent tight ends and our cap situation the release seemed inevitable.

How to you expect ( at least some) players to react if your "franchise QB" reportedly wants "out" of the team?

JFC, please let's not do the sources argument about Wentz for the 10 millionth time. Put the tin foil hats and pitchforks away, please.

Despite his down year, Ertz is still regarded as a "top tier" TE in the NFL.  He might not be top 3 anymore but he's still (likely) better than any free agent TE's on the market, even at the age of 30.  Because of his playing style, Ertz could easily play an additional 3-4+ years at a high level and I'm sure most teams realize that.  WIll the Eagles get a 2nd round pick for him?  Probably not.  But even a mid or later round pick is better than nothing, especially during a "rebuild".

Nah, Philly fans are easily pissed off. A couple of players may have had some kind of issues but Wentz didn’t quit he got benched.

I would tell Ertz to chill out for the next 3 days.  Pretty obvious that he is part of the puzzle to get under the cap so if he isn't traded before you can bet he will be released.

So no source. Got it

I’m curious to see if Howie will be able to get a 2022 1st round pick in exchange for #6.  Having three 1st round picks in the 2022 draft, where there will be a return to the full vesting and evaluation process for the draft class, would be really big toward a quicker turnaround.

A 2022 1st round pick instead of a 2021 2nd round pick (if they trade down out of 6) wouldn't be the worst idea but I would still prefer they landed a 2021 2nd round pick instead.

For starters, this year's draft is loaded with talent between picks 20-70.  You could pick a player at 30 or the same player at 50 and no one would blink an eye. Even the scouting sites are all over the place in terms of player evaluations/projections this year.  So in theory, having more picks in a year like this (where there's a larger margin of error) would be better than having more picks next year, when (like you said) things get back to "normal" and the draft isn't as "diluted".

Secondly, the rebuild is starting this year so the idea is to build a strong foundation. An extra year for rookie players with a new coaching staff is preferrable, imo.

Meanwhile we'll probably be at the bottom again

I could careless about Carson. I want him to fetch the Eagles the best pick possible.

I can see rooting for former Eagles that actually meant something to this franchise. I cheered for B-Dawk just as hard when he was a Bronco. Carson isn’t close to being that beloved to me.

At this point the comp pic (I know I know comp pickZzZ) but that might be the best solution for the Eagles. Doesn’t seem to be a strong market for him.

They aren’t going to get a comp pick since they would have to cut him

Howie is doing the right thing. (Yes, there's a comment about clocks coming).

Depends. If he’s holding out for a 3rd he’s not going to get that right before free agency with a strong TE market, especially with the knowledge Ertz wants to get released if they can’t get a deal done. He could easily overplay his hand here and end up with nothing.

If Howie gets offered anything better than a 5th round pick for Ertz he should not only take the deal, but send a thank-you card to the team giving him the pick

I tend to agree with this as well, to an extent.  There's a difference between actually "rooting for a player to win" (Like Dawkins, etc) and not wanting a player to fail or struggle.  I'm leaning more towards preferring to see Wentz not fail vs actually "rooting for him to win".  And if Wentz does turn his career around it would likely mean that he dug in, focused his talent and humbled himself to the point of listening to his coaches, etc, etc.  He seems to be in the right place to do it with Reich, so the rest is up to him, imo.

Good for Aaron Jones.

What

Gross. I’m guessing Sanders would get something comparable. No thanks.
