I wonder if not restructuring Lane Johnson’s contract puts Slater in play with the first pick?

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

.  If we can bash Hamler, we can’t say anything nice about Reagor.

Hamler is not an Eagle - we can absolutely bash him while saying nice things about Reagor.

Not at 6. And they already restructured Lane so many times he’s here at minimum for the next two years.

I tend to agree with this as well, to an extent.  There's a difference between actually "rooting for a player to win" (Like Dawkins, etc) and not wanting a player to fail or struggle.  I'm leaning more towards preferring to see Wentz not fail vs actually "rooting for him to win".  And if Wentz does turn his career around it would likely mean that he dug in, focused his talent and humbled himself to the point of listening to his coaches, etc, etc.  He seems to be in the right place to do it with Reich, so the rest is up to him, imo.

Or just got away from a toxic environment and landed somewhere that focuses on football

Well I had to do a who  I know  deal to get my first Pfizer shot today , I  would have been waiting a long time otherwise , still wrapping up phase 1 here in Maryland where I am located .

Gross. I’m guessing Sanders would get something comparable. No thanks.

If he's putting up 1500+ yards from scrimmage when the time comes to resign him, they're going to need to figure out a way to get it done.   Although the RB position has been diluted over the past 10+ years, there's still only a small % of Tier 1 RB's in the NFL.  There's a ton of Tier 1A and Tier 2 backs but not a ton of "star" RB's.  If they think Sanders is a tier 1 RB when it's time to resign him, they will need to figure out a way to get it done.  It took 5 years to find a replacement for McCoy after he was traded.  We got lucky in 2017 with Blount and Ajayi and they were both gone soon after.   If Sanders is who we think he is, he should get a 2nd contract, imo.

That said, his 2nd contract may not necessarily be "as big".  If he's not putting up 1500+ yards from scrimmage, then he'll likely demand (somewhat) less.

He’s on pace for near identical stats to Aaron Jones. Miles edges him slightly in receiving yards, Jones has the advantage of rushing TD’s. I’m not paying him an average of $14M per year. And it will be 1-2 years from now so it could be more just due to inflation. Paying RB’s big money never works.

Ok, that’s fine.  So you wish not to analyze or look at things objectively.

Watching some Mills  play , and Fehogo shows up , might be a nice late rd WO . and Mills has a quick release and makes smart decisions , really like him .

I'm sure most in the Wentz camp would think that's the reason and it's easy to make Howie the scapegoat.

The reality is that Wentz just wasn't "there" during the 2020 season and it resulted in his worst career year and him getting benched.  He then (supposedly) tells the team he wants "out"

I mean look you may be right. I'm no Wentz fan boy so I'm not going to defend him here. But a lot of the problems happened after the team drafted Hurts. Now if that was the case then that's partly on Wentz too.

Good for Aaron Jones.

The Packers are a below average franchise without Rodgers.

Malik Hooker in my opinion the most likely free agent signing for us.

And maybe some of that too.

How did it become "toxic" in Philly though?  Does Doug Pederson strike you as the type of guy that creates "toxic environments"?   How about the rest of the team?  Did they make it toxic?  The FO?  Jeffery Lurie?  Did Wentz help the situation or make it worse?

There's an old saying when you train for management/leadership positions...  It basically says, "You can start strong/strict and ease up later on but you can't start easy and then go strong/strict."  The Eagles basically handed Wentz the keys to the team.  When things got tough, they started/tried to take the keys back...and that's when things started to become "toxic", imo.

That’s definitely a jersey worth buying

Not smart to give rbs second contracts

just keep drafting them

Sheesh.  I'm not sure what this means for Miles Sanders next contract.  He's a nice back but that seems high for him.

To be honest... We should just put a heavy load on him the next 2 years and then move on. I'm not sure he's worth a huge contract but I'm pretty sure (depending on the next 2 years) he's going to get a pretty big contract.

#Saints QB Drew Brees has officially announced his retirement from the NFL.

I doubt Miles gets another contract here. RBs are expendable and on league average they last around 4 years or so. Miles is very good, but durability seems to be an issue already.  He's not even getting 25 to 30 touches and he gets nicked up.

You were looking at ‘19 and ‘20 base salaries.

Just officially announced , it was time , Saints have big problems moving forward

Running back is just so interesting anymore.  You almost can't get attached to one because you know the minute you do, he'll be gone.  You have to consider so much.  Running style, workload, age, previous injuries and such

I love Najee Harris but one thing I didn't realize is he just turned 23 last week.  That's old for a rookie running back, especially one that runs the way he does.  I love him as a prospect but that age is a huge turnoff.  To put that in perspective, Miles Sanders turns 24 in May and has already been in the league for 2 years.

I don't know with Sanders.  We still haven't seen his full potential.  With DP and HOF HC candidate Duce Staley calling the plays and rotation his stats and wear and tear have really been limited.  I'd love to see an offense lean on him and see what he can do as a true bell cow.  Can he hold up physically?

I actually didn't realize Sanders was so young.  He might be worth a 2nd contract before he does become the focus of a ground game.
