The chances of Barnett being released are the same as my chances at nailing Pam Anderson in her prime. Ain't gonna happen, sir.

Yes but what are your chances at nailing her now? Lol

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

20 minutes into the legal tampering period, and we haven’t agreed to terms with a bunch of players despite still being over the cap!!

FIRE HOWIE!!!!

Think they will try and extend him to lower cap and get that under $10 million/year no?

They already tried and its sounding like talks went nowhere.

$10M cap hit as currently stands if he is on the roster, no cap hit at all if he is released.

It's a very really chance if they can't for whatever reason find a trade partner or they don't work out a new deal.

as long as they got under the cap they dont need to rush more deals. plenty of time. Ertz can move once Smith is off the market, I imagine. bad year to be an FA

My opinion is that we know what we have in Barnett which is a very average player.  I don't think he's worth $10 million or even $7-8 million.  I had a long post last week about Barnett's production/value compared to veteran players they've brought in at $2 million/year (Long/Curry).

If Barnett showed some sort of dynamic play that showed me he hasn't hit his ceiling yet then I'd be a lot more interested in locking him up.  I just think he is what he is.  Average DE in the league.  I'd much rather bring in rental veterans on 1-year deals until they find a few young DE worth locking up long term.

There's no reason to release Barnett. We're under the cap without extending him. It's either trade him or let him walk in 2022 for a comp pick.

Are we under the cap? Last I checked we are still around $17M over.

Until he drops a pass, fans boo him, he gets into his head and becomes a disaster again.

Agholor is a better receiver than Greg Ward.  I would take that chance that he could go downhill.  Again, I think there are other teams that will pay him more money and he has no real connection with the current staff that would justify him returning.

First FA prediction.  Kenny Golloday to the Colts.

The incentive for Barnett likely isn’t there. Was listening to Andrew Brandt talk on Wip from last week. He made a good point a lot of players going to take one year contracts because of the cap knowing next year it likely dramatically goes back up and they can cash out more then. So Barnett taking a risk playing but he makes $10 mil this year and next year likely could get more money as he is still young and the cap increases the way it does.

Agholor is the anti-Greg Ward.  Throw it to Nelson in a big moment at the end of the game and he will drop it.

Less than 1%. Better shot than Barnett being released.

Should we start an Eagles FA thread ???  Oh that's right, the weasel destroyed the Eagles cap situation and we will not be involved in any FA's worth having a thread about.

i think we will add a DE in the draft rather than a cheap vet. BG, Sweat, Barnett, Draft pick.

Yup, especially if they want to pay him lower than a $10M average. He really holds all the leverage here. They probably shouldn't have exercised his 5th year, but can't really blame them for this one.

I'd rather add a vet and a draft pick and not tie up what looks to be $40 million in Barnett.

Comp pick isn't a guarantee especially if we want to sign some players which I certainly hope we will be otherwise we will continue to be NFC bottom dwellers for years

Even with the Graham extension?

I like Barnett but he really isn’t worth $10 per. He is solid but also been injured nearly every season in his four years. I think they let him play it out like agholor and unless he blows up this year let him walk. I tend to think they rather a long term deal with sweat even with his knee condition
