For the Devonta Smith fans, how do you envision him fitting in an offense with Reagor?

Do you see Reagor in the slot with Smith at Z?  Can Smith conceivably deal with press coverage at his size as the X?

When Reagor was first drafted, I liked the pick based on his tape in college and his alleged post-combine workout improvements.  With his strong frame and good strength, I figured he might have his best upside as a do it all high volume X receiver.  His routes as a rookie, to be honest, were horrible.  He's no X.  And he's way too raw to move around the field at multiple spots.  Not sure he's fast enough to be an ideal Z, or has enough of a feel for routes and zone coverage to be a slot.  Of course, all of that could change if he, hopefully, emerges as a completely different player in year 2.

Just wondering how everyone sees him fitting into the picture with the various receiving prospects.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

#21, #22, #14, not #6, #10 and #20.

Houston went 4-12 with Watson, think we'd do better the next couple seasons with no cap room indefinitely (after the $40+M extension) and no draft picks?

The defense gave up 32 PPG in the 12 losses.  Gave up 35 or more points in 5 of those games.  Not sure how that is a Desean Watson problem.  If you score 38, 36, 31 points, it is not on you for losing.

And we'll see how he holds up. How many mobile QBs are still top ten at age 30? Few can adjust and become pocket QBs, Wilson still hasn't, the fact he hasn't gotten seriously injured makes him an outlier. Guys like Young and Rodgers were marinated on the bench and learned how to play as pocket QBs who could run.

Look at the current active leaders in career yardage - where are the mobile QBs?

Alex Smith (#9) is an exception, repeatedly injured early in his career, five years from 29-33 before he broke down

Wilson (#11) will turn 33 in Nov.

Newton (#13) peaked at 26, pretty much cooked by 29

Tannehill (#15) bounced back at 32-33 after injury prone career in his 20s

Prescott (#22) got injured at 27, we'll see how he ages. We saw what happened to Wentz (#23)

RGIII started with a bang before he physically broke down

I agree with this.  But you also realize this is a problem with Jalen Hurts, right?

How many mobile QB's are top 10 at 30?  Few can adjust and become pocket QB's.  Look at the mobile QB's in active yardage leaders.

You just articulated a better argument against Hurts than I ever did.

I actually like McLeod. Feel like he’s one if not the most underrated players over the past 5 years. He’s not great but he makes tackles and doesn’t get toasted too often

I'd suspect Gannon wants to keep him around while breaking in numerous young DBs.

Hurts will be 23, we'll worry about his age 30 season when we come to it. 😄

But until there's a much bigger track record on mobile QBs, I'd be wary of giving big money contracts into their 30+ seasons.

Looking at the NFL free agent tracker, Eagles are the only team who has not acquired a player via sign or trade.

Given what's being paid for crap, we're just as well off with the restructures that keep proven veterans around for a couple more years than paying 2nd tier veterans stupid money.

AJ Green and Fitz???  Maybe they can lure Chad Johnson and TO out of retirement too.

And I'd be wary of handing the keys to the offense of a mobile QB.

Prescott is going to be interesting, dislocating anything but a finger is not the easiest injury to get over, he dislocated plus had a compound fracture and had a 2nd surgery in December (probably similar to Lane’s offseason ankle surgery) ligament tightening because of previous sprains.  Not that he was just a running QB in the past who couldn’t throw,  dude can throw, but his running days as a QB are going to be limited, at least cut in half if not more.

Yeah, I don't think it's a career ender, but what we saw with McNabb and Wentz is that when you lose some of that mobility, it takes away the big improvisational plays, which means you have to be much more efficient out of the pocket to compensate. And when the threat to run is diminished, teams don't have to waste a "spy" on you.

Too much.

So you'd think he'd do better behind our defense with worse skill players?

If he can't high point, however, he's going to have a lot of balls bounce off his chest and other parts of his anatomy.

I’m curious if his GPS speed looks any better.

I'm all for DB's with a knack for coverage, good film, and bad 40's....later in the draft.  Mills was a great success in that regard.  Bad workouts (which WERE predictive of his complete inability to defend deep routes) but a damn good football player with excellent short range coverage in college...which did translate to the pro's.

If you are going DB in round 1 or 2, they really should be the complete package with speed to match.

Yeah, cause the John Johnson 3 year 33 million deal was so unreasonable for a guy who was a great scheme fit.

Mike Hilton 4 year 24 million.

Brissett 1 year 5 million ( half of the apparent going rate for a back up QB )

Carlos Hyde 2 year 6 million

John Brown 1 year 3.75 million

Jamal Williams 2 year 7.5 million

Ahekllo Witherspoon 1 year 4 million

These are all very reasonable deals for players at positions we have a need.

But when our hero destroys our cap situation, you get left with table scraps.

The Bengals have at least one receiver better than Green?  So hopefully they should be sticking with Sewell in the draft right?

AJ Green is just 1 year behind Desean Jackson.
