The money hasn’t leaked from the Fuller deal... I wonder if he got a really low number.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I still think they add one of the receiving options at 3 too whether Pitts or Chase

Bad day for Marks to be out.  Him and Ike together today would have been gold.  Not the same with Ellis.

Is Marks any good on WIP or with Ike?  I HAAATED him on the 97.5 morning show.  My favorite part about him on that show was the weekly caller that left Christmas song messages themed around murdering Marks and dumping his body.

Ray was Lurie's first hire, but he had his foibles, he was able to motivate a veteran squad for a couple years, but his shtick it wore thin, probably in the FO as well.

Like Doug, he was probably better suited to be a coordinator than a HC.

The SB was a fluke but the next three years the norm?

Ray was not perfect, but Lurie has his foibles as well.  He wears thin.

Heard Pat Kirwan on NFL Radio speculate that the salary cap could go up to $350M in the near future in light of the $10B influx of revenue coming in — said that’s "a conservative number”

Ertz can play out his final year and the Eagles can pocket the comp pick after he’s gone; I don’t believe in giving into lowball offers

Mariota turned down the Raiders request to drop his salary from $11M to $3M — if I were Howie I’d offer him a one-year incentive based contract.  He’s better than Hurts (not saying much)

If you had a billion dollar investment, would you simply let others run it and play golf?

Or would you want to be in the loop, ask questions and make sure people have good explanations for that they're doing?

It's a big jump from "I heard such and such . . . what do you think" to "I heard such and such . . make it happen."

For example, did Lurie decide Hurts is the QB, or did Lurie simply state what had been decided internally to shut down discussion now that it's a done deal.

In an organization, you want everyone's opinion before a decision is made, but you don't want people second guessing afterwards and backstabbing. Once a decision is made, get on board or get off the train.A lot of sports organizations lack coherent management and often send out conflicting messages as employees attempt to lobby through the media.

Unfortunately, Philly reporters are generally dreck so we get little real insight, but a lot of click bait.

Probably low with a lot of incentives. He also has to miss Week 1

Well let’s look from 2011-2020 the decade. not the 20 years like you are some cowboys fan that wants to talk about things from 2 decades ago. Let’s talk about the recent decade. They were 81-78-1. The super bowl year which is the biggest outlier as the rest of the decade they won 1 playoff game and were 68-75-1. So what yeah 2017 might be the biggest lightning in a bottle for the eagles that decade cause without it they are 7 games below 500 and had one playoff win against Mitchell trubisky on a double doink. They also finished at .500 or worse in 5 of the 10 years. So I’d say the last 3 years of 22-25-1 is more similar to the other years of the past decade then 2017 was to the rest of the decade

But keep making your excuses up like the niners when it was brought up you denied it even though they lost their QB in 2 of Lynch’s years and didn’t have one until at the trade deadline in his first year.

That's unlikely, since a significant percentage goes to medical, pensions, etc. so it's diverted before it gets to the cap. I remember that kind of speculation with the last deal before the numbers became more conservative as details came out over time.

Well... Alshon catches that pass... and they are still trailing in that game.  No guarantee of winning that game even with Alshon not dropping that.  The offense put up a big 13 spot against the Bears the week before... and they got through that game on account of 2 lucky bounces off the upright and then the cross bar.  Just a fraction of an inch different and it bounces over the cross bar, and they lose that first game.

The offense was shut down completely in the Saints game after the INT Foles threw.  He went into a funk, along with the rest of the offense, and could only manage that last desperation drive... with zero margin for error... but they had the error.

agree -- also, we lost our best lineman on each side of the ball during that game as well (Brooks/achilles, Cox/foot) -- so we would have been playing the Rams majorly short-handed (we were already rolling into that game with D-squad DBs and a handful of other key injuries)

Still green.

Andrew Berry making some nice signings 😔

This press conference today was brutal. I wanna give this coach a chance and all but yeeeesh.

Not sure if we're allowed to say anything positive about it, but here it goes.

I actually liked the message that he was attempting to get across.  Even though he decided to give his brother all of the credit for implementing these systems, that's the coaching style that a successful NFL team needs.  We need someone (or their brother) who is able to coach to each player's strengths that isn't tied to 1 specific system or too dumb to implement another (Doug).  The coaching display last season was sickening to me, and the personnel decisions were equally as bad.  I want to list all the examples, but it's been done too many times in here.

So you want to cherry pick that decade. How many teams made the playoffs 5 times the previous decade?

NE (9), GB (8), SEA (8), KC (7), Balt (6), PItt (6), NO (6), Indy (5) so tied with Indy at #8 in PO appearances the last decade.

That's a good point. I was doing work while listening and was confused why he started shouting at me about the Wing T. It was pretty funny he just buried those kids too.

The window is always about the playoffs, first make the playoffs, then get a better seed, then win baby.

What killed 2018 and 2019 (and 2020) were an unusual rate of injury, if it happens one year, fluke, three years, something's wrong in the state of Denmark. And most of the injured players had histories of being durable, Jerrigan, Malik, Wallace, Darby, Brooks, etc. Only DeSean and later Jeffrey were injury prone. And age is not correlated to injury (probably b/c injury prone players get selected out of the population as they age).

They never were close after 2017.  NEVER.  To claim otherwise is to rewrite history.

Well you cherry pick dates all the time with your 20 years crap. I use the current decade of football. Great win percentage the last decade eagles were outside the top 10 of the nfl. I believe they are 12 or 13. Awesome playoff appearances where outside of 2017 they were 1-3 so again 2017 proven to being the outlier. And the one win came on a fluke double doink against the all impressive Mitchell freaking Trubisky. also from 2011-2020 made the playoffs 4 times in 10 years (2013,2017,2018, 2019). Congrats got there 4 times cause the division was god awful in 2019 and managed to finish dead last in an even somehow worse division in 2020

also please explain to me how yesterday you told me the Texans had a decent offensive line that was close to special even though PFF and most any other site that grades offensive line had them 23rd, 20th, 23rd in three consecutive years but yet you somehow think that’s decent to special when they were bottom 10 for two of those years and bottom third for one of those years.

also so you know cause I went back and looked, I called Patrick Mahomes an elite franchise quarterback. Nothing about him being in the Pro football Hall of Fame. You told me when I said he was an elite franchise quarterback he was unproven. Using your own QBR he finish second, second and first for three consecutive years is and yet you said he was unproven. So making up narratives in how that discussion started

But hey keep coming with the excuse train for the eagles but poo poo it for lynch who didn’t have a franchise QB until week 9 of his first year, lost Jimmy g in game 3 his second year and basically didn’t have him all year this past year. It’s pure amazing that your use the excuse of injuries for the Eagles but when somebody points up for the Niners you will allow it. It speaks volumes.

Oh wait.  Haven’t you heard?  It doesn’t matter how bad it gets.  Because some Newb tried to argue that since there is a waiting list for season ticket sales, Lurie will be fine with any results.

Nice try produce boy.  But your argument was that if they are not good this year, the stadium will be half empty and Lurie will decide to sell.  Keep moving those goalposts like you move a crate of zucchini.

1 hour ago, 4for4EaglesNest said:

You don't have to worry about me and a job interview.  Nice effort.    Half empty stadiums and declining merch sales has nothing to do with season tickets.  Lurie will certainly take notice if the fan attendance is declining.  Not the season tickets.  That would take more than 2 year to show decline.  In the interim, a portion of those tickets will be sold on stub hub to opposing fans.   But let's just say that doesn't happen and there is less fans coming through the gate, even though those tickets are sold.  I would hope anyone would know there is more to an NFL teams revenue than ticket sales.  That's less merch sales, less concession sales and again it looks bad for a proud franchise like the Eagles.  And we all know Lurie cares about aesthetics.  So again., you brought up season ticket sales, not me.  I was not talking about that.  I was talking about, when stadiums are allowed to be a full capacity, the fans have a way to show their displeasure.  That is half empty stadiums or worse the Linc is half full of Redskins, Giants or Cowboy fans because of resale of those season tickets online.  Yes, Lurie gets his season ticket $.  But he doesn't like how that looks and will take notice.   More importantly....don't try so hard.

The stadiums will not be half full.

Howie supposedly took over as GM in 2010... so start there.  It's not arbitrary, and your point stands.

I chose 2011 to 2020 cause it’s 10 years of football. That’s a recent decade of work. Banner left in 2012 after the 2011 season. That doesn’t help howie though. Cause it was 8-8 off the board from 2011.
