I chose 2011 to 2020 cause it’s 10 years of football. That’s a recent decade of work. Banner left in 2012 after the 2011 season. That doesn’t help howie though. Cause it was 8-8 off the board from 2011.

I know why you did it.  But, you are debating with afan.  Concede the 'arbitrary' nature of the 2011 timeline... choose a slightly different year, less arbitrary by an objective measurement, and build a stronger case.   You aren't wrong, and your conclusion remains, and is likely even stronger.  2017 is the outlier... the major outlier.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

The best case for real change is for everyone to get the vaccine and covid is stamped out or controlled.  That way, when there is a half empty stadium because the fans are indifferent, Lurie will see that it isn't because of a pandemic.  It's because they lost the fan base/city.  Same can be said about merch sales.  Hit him where it hurts.

Never said it uh chief?  Seems like you're saying it right there in response to a post about having Lurie sell.

Try and work on those memory skills before tomorrow's big interview.

The sky is falling, the sky is falling, the Eagles are doomed. Happy now?

Howie is at his best wheeling and dealing, accumulating assets during a rebuild, manipulating loopholes, finding talent in obscure places. He's a nerd.

Yes, the SB got Lowie a bit giddy, but they also had horrid injury luck. 2018, Wallace goes down, never injured, Jerrigan goes down. Hicks after 12 games, Darby after 9, McLeod after 3. The defense goes from top ten to below average. The next season they bring in Malik but figure they can't have this kind of luck again. Howard only plays 10 games, Agholor 11, Jeffrey 10, DeSean 3 (weren't expecting 16, but 10-12), Malik, Ridgeway, they limp into the playoffs, not as bad as 2018 but worse than average. 2020 was a mistake, but "all's well that ends well," they have a high pick in 2021, hopefully a 1st and 3rd for Wentz. Not the end of the world.

Now reality has set in. The SB is behind them, no more crossing your fingers hoping for one more run. They have 11 picks plus one for Ertz when he's traded. An extra 1st next year. A premier landing place for top UDFAs b/c there are jobs available. A golden opportunity to rebuild in two years, and prepare to sign FAs and make a run for the playoffs in 2023. They don't have to worry about being competitive, they can focus on players with upside and the intangibles to take to hard coaching.

Now if we get to 2023, and don't have a stable of young starters and young depth, then freak out.

I have to be honest , if I owned a team , I can’t say I would be 100 % hands off .

nor would anyone else here

Ray was not perfect, but Lurie has his foibles as well.  He wears thin.

What do you mean?  If I were Jim Schwartz and had been the defensive coordinator for the SB LII champs, I would love it if my boss's boss asked me why my defense sucked that day.

Not sure if we're allowed to say anything positive about it, but here it goes.

I actually liked the message that he was attempting to get across.  Even though he decided to give his brother all of the credit for implementing these systems, that's the coaching style that a successful NFL team needs.  We need someone (or their brother) who is able to coach to each player's strengths that isn't tied to 1 specific system or too dumb to implement another (Doug).  The coaching display last season was sickening to me, and the personnel decisions were equally as bad.  I want to list all the examples, but it's been done too many times in here.

I wasn’t inspired by the story of the wing T. Hope I’m wrong and he’s the next Lombardi.

No way brother. That's real money ... I'm 100% with you.

We all would be involved.  The issue is, basing on EMB consensus, the Eagles would have Alvin Kamara, DK Metcalf and Justin Jefferson.

With Lowie, we got Sidney Jones, JJAWful and Reagor.

Most EMB'ers know more about football than Lowie.  They also don't listen to the scouts who know more about football than they do.

That's a good point. I was doing work while listening and was confused why he started shouting at me about the Wing T. It was pretty funny he just buried those kids too.

That was hilarious.  He emphasized in italics how there were NO athletes on that specific team.  I'm sure those kids/adults now appreciated it.

Exactly. The last three years was very indicative of the rest of the decade outside of 2017. I love 2017 and they were a great team that year. However 2018 for the majority of the year they werent. And 2019 they weren’t until December they played 4 teams in the top 5 of the draft and Dak with a bum shoulder which they hung on to win. It was fools gold then like i said.  And turned out to be more so looking back on it. Add on there was 4 power struggles that decade with howie and they paid two QBs $100 million to be the franchise and both were gone within 3 years of signing it. If they took 2017 away that decade looks a lot worse. Thank god for 2017.

Yeah, no.

Howie was at his best because of luck on a few late FA and other GMs and agents hadn't caught on to his bull. They aren't buying now and he hasn't adapted. Only reason he still has a job is because Uncle Jeff needs a yes man.

Golden opportunity to rebuild? Locked into BS contracts and pretty much needing one of almost everything on the roster because the idiot in charge blew almost all the picks the last few years isn't a golden opportunity.

Yuck.  I agree with you.  Despite my disdain for Jerry Jones and what our owner seemingly does with meddling, I would probably be the exact same way.  However, I wouldn't be doing it in the late 2nd round.  That's disturbing.  I also wouldn't be pissed off if my team ran the ball down the Packers throat for a 34-27 win and "didn't throw enough."

I agree, but then own it. Saying one thing while doing the opposite is weak.

Nope. Also, the same guy who put them in this situation by blowing picks is still making the picks.

We could be a little hands on.  But in any business a good leader knows that you surround yourself with good people and allow them to do their job.  Manage the management.   There’s no defending Lurie.

Totally agree. Do people think Kraft just sits back and watches? He's involved, but he lets the professionals he chose do their jobs. Like you said that's good leadership.

Off-topic.  What sort of nerdy (not typical) hobbies do some of you guys have?  I've gone down the YouTube rabbit hole of matchbox car restoration and customization.  It looks like a lot of fun and challenging to do.  Considering headed to some of our local antique stores to see if there are any buckets of old cars to mess around with.

You can’t take 2017 away from them. They get the credit for it. That was a great job on there end to hit on every single player in free agency and Carson Wentz to have a season of his life and Nick Foles to play the postseason of his life. It may have just been lightning in a bottle for the eagles

2017 doesn’t dismiss how the rest of the decade went. Outside of 2017 when you look at it, it’s not that impressive. So if I look at the last decade I can say that was the ultimate outlier. Because most of the decade has been what it was the last three years and the six seasons before 2017. Up until 2017 the biggest things that Eagles had accomplished in that decade was having  foles 27-2 season and controversies with Riley Cooper being a racist,  gang relations with DeSean Jackson, trading mccoy, signing Bradford, howie roseman squabbles with Joe Banner, Andy Reid and chip and building the "dream team” and fools gold quote by lurie. I haven’t even mentioned that they paid two quarterbacks over $100 million and neither one of them turned out to be the franchise quarterback they wanted.

I love 2017. Greatest eagle season of my life however that doesn’t dismiss the other nine years that decade were there was constant dysfunction and constant leaks out of the organization and mediocre football based off the fact the record outside of 2017 that decade was below .500

Have watched many a YouTube video on the subject. Looks like fun. Yard/garage sales are also a good place to scout for them.

My nerdy hobby is stargazing. Finally splurged and got a decent telescope a few years back. By far one of the best investments I've made. Learning how and then being able to identify and capture galaxies is extraordinarily humbling and inspiring.

Not signing anyone and not making short-sighted moves has been much appreciated.

I credit Howie with getting lucky and I'm sticking to that. Long/Blount/Robinson made that team what it was and they were all very late additions that far exceeded expectations. He also screwed the draft royally that year.

There it is: #Bears are releasing former All-Pro CB Kyle Fuller, per

. Another big name going to the open market, and Chicago now has a huge hole in the secondary

This is crazy if you're the Bears.

It is funny to me how much love there is for the Flyers’ Ed Snyder who was nothing but an active (and interfering) owner.

but nobody questioned his motives- even when misguided, he meddled to win.
