I have to be honest , if I owned a team , I can’t say I would be 100 % hands off .

nor would anyone else here

It might be everyone’s worse nightmare if any of us owned the team.   Some in here would think they are Jerry. I doubt anyone of us could resist meddling a bit.  Personally, I would love to have all that film of prospects available to me.  I have to believe after owning an NFL franchise as long as he has that Lurie probably feels he has more knowledge than any poster on a message board.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Yeah, no.

Howie was at his best because of luck on a few late FA and other GMs and agents hadn't caught on to his bull. They aren't buying now and he hasn't adapted. Only reason he still has a job is because Uncle Jeff needs a yes man.

Golden opportunity to rebuild? Locked into BS contracts and pretty much needing one of almost everything on the roster because the idiot in charge blew almost all the picks the last few years isn't a golden opportunity.

When it works it's luck, when it doesn't he sucks.

I'm sure you'd be fun to work for, when it works it's because I'm brilliant, when it doesn't, because you're dumb.

I credit Howie with getting lucky and I'm sticking to that. Long/Blount/Robinson made that team what it was and they were all very late additions that far exceeded expectations.

Definitely some luck. Also some bad luck. Every team and organization has both. To me the other 9 years of the decade were more of a reflection of the franchise then 2017. Legit we have controversies and dysfunction with howie vs. chip, howie vs. banner, howie/lurie vs. Doug and even reid had issues. Had gang members or Riley the racist. Or trading for Bradford.or couldn’t sign maclin cause of the golf course or turmoil inside the locker room

andrew bradt said it best if you take away your best season of a decade and worst season of a decade you probably getting an accurate depiction of what you truly were  last decade. If you do that with the eagles they are 64-64-1. Thats average. That’s about what they were outside of 2017 and 2020

You think he's been watching film, and talking to scouts and coaches for 25 years?

Nah, he's been in his box drinking Mimosas and hanging out with celebrities.

Uh.  Sure they did.  I would hardly consider him "loved”.  He was widely criticized the last decade or so.

Add on Bobby Clarke was as well for his moves as a Gm and he beloved by Flyers fans as a player.

I wasn’t inspired by the story of the wing T. Hope I’m wrong and he’s the next Lombardi.

One of the teams in my high school’s division, back in the dark ages, ran a wing T.  It is a great formation that has outlived the veer and wishbone all the other teams were running.  The pro set back then was the Power I.  Some teams occasionally run a Power I play too.

Sirianni pulled a Michael Jordan and said "F them kids.”

Actually, he was apologizing before the words fully past his lips.

Ryan Pace is totally pulling a Costanza by cutting Fuller and signing Dalton while on the hot seat.

Love lane. He’s awesome.

I have a co-worker who’s a bears fan. He’s like thank god we got dalton as our franchise savior (sarcastically). He was like just fire them now and move on.

It’s so disgusting. Like some of the people on Twitter that did it. They deserve to have the crap beat out of them. I’m glad one stepped up and his mom. I wish his mom @ them

Our new safety has a very presidential name.

How many games did Trubisky start last season before Foles had to go in?  I guess that can be the O/U for Dalton

Aside from the game he shredded Jacquet and the Eagles secondary, he really wasn’t even very good with DAL offense last season

He does have Howie in the box whispering to him occasionally.  When they drafted Wentz, Lurie attended all the QB workouts.  Now if he suggested drafting JJAW, one would think he would learn from that mistake.

Twitter is a cesspool. It's not a Philly thing, it's a social media thing. People can say whatever they want with zero repercussions. It's not real life. No one would ever say anything like that to someone's face.

Off-topic.  What sort of nerdy (not typical) hobbies do some of you guys have?  I've gone down the YouTube rabbit hole of matchbox car restoration and customization.  It looks like a lot of fun and challenging to do.  Considering headed to some of our local antique stores to see if there are any buckets of old cars to mess around with.

I have gone card board crazy collecting basketball and football cards like when I was 12. The industry has exploded and I love it!

So now the defense of Lurie is.  He knows more about film study and players than posters on a message board.   JFC.  That’s how you set the bar right there.   That’s like saying, Paulie Shore is a better actor than me.   Yeah.  No ish.  That doesn’t mean he’s good at it.

Yep.  I love that kid.  Great spirit.

Nice analogy.  But, are you certain Paulie Shore is better than you?  If you never tried then you might actually be better.

That’s cool.   I haven’t really picked up a hobby.  I should.   I just golf, do yardwork and burn things in my fire pit.  I sti have my dads old stamp collection.  No idea what to do with it.  I’ve called some dealers in The few years since he passed and there doesn’t seem to be a market for it.  Not something I’m into.

i hear stamps are worth more if they were actually mailed. not sure if thats true or not

We all would be involved.  The issue is, basing on EMB consensus, the Eagles would have Alvin Kamara, DK Metcalf and Justin Jefferson.

With Lowie, we got Sidney Jones, JJAWful and Reagor.

Most EMB'ers know more about football than Lowie.  They also don't listen to the scouts who know more about football than they do.

I don't think I've seen that one before, but I like it.  Well played.

And the difference being that we here on the EMB don't outsmart ourselves by trying to be the smartest guy in the room.  In earnest, most of us are really trying to make suggestions that we think are good ones based on what little knowledge of scouting reports and such we come across on the interwebz.  We know we're not experts and with that comes a bit of humility, which is something Lowie can use.

If I owned the team, I’d do EXACTLY what Lurie is doing.  I’d be extremely self righteous, would deflect that I do not make football decisions in bad times, would find a "GM” well versed in contracts/agents/inner workings who was willing to advise me, let me pull all the strings while taking the heat...and would hold onto him no matter what, and I would run my NFL fantasy football team.

Id probably cut the self important bull crap and the monologues a bit...but his puppet control of the team (note team, not franchise...he owns it)...that’s exactly what I’d do.  I was one of the first to call him out for it before this offseason got underway.

Reading comprehension just isn’t your strong suit, in my opinion.  Beast posted about the likelihood that if any of us was an owner, we would likely not be hands off.  I agreed and said I (that being me, not Lurie) would love to have the film of prospects available . I also commented that given the time period that Lurie has owned the team, he probably feels he knows more than EMB posters.  AFan responded You (I would guess that would mean me) think he has been watching film and talking to coaches for 25 years.   (I do, so AFan was spot on as to how he interpreted what I think.). You translated that into a defense (your word) of Lurie.  That’s not a defense.  It pretty much is just a statement of the obvious conclusions. Clearly, that background makes Lurie far more lacking in football knowledge than you.  We are humbled by your presence.

I went to the university of Delaware. Tubby Raymond ran it every year 😄
