According to a report Thursday from the Inquirer's Jeff McLane, "the Eagles recently inquired about trading for Watson."

It's easy to disregard one report about a team being interested in a top player, but when multiple reports start surfacing, it becomes much more difficult to turn the blind eye.

Also, McLane's language is extremely specific. He isn't reporting that the Eagles would like to make that trade, or that they are "monitoring" the situation. He's reporting that the Eagles inquired with the Texans about a Deshaun Watson trade, which is a direct first step towards a potential deal.

But other reporters are reporting that the Texans are basically responding to,any inquiries that they aren’t interested in trading Watson.  So, who is lying?

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I don’t disagree with that. However i wouldn’t be shocked if the eagles would make that deal if they could.

They aren't going to have a choice. They will eventually realize this.

Yep.  You can't preach the rebuild and prioritize large amounts of draft picks just to trade them for one player.  I'm guessing we are going to be top 5 in next year's draft as well so using any future first round picks is just foolish.

As good as Watson is, we have nothing on offense around him.  We have nothing on defense to stop the fast improving NFCE.  We need these draft picks, we need the upcoming cap space.  We need to build from the ground up, not a piece here and a piece there while Watson ages and has no supporting cast.

Everyone.

I think Texans have to listen just because they may have to do a trade later on. They want to keep Watson but he's been extremely adamant about not wanting to stay

Lol I would be so pissed if he mortgaged the teams future on Watson. Who is he going to throw to and who is going to protect him years from now? What defense will he have to help him out?

Watson doesn't want go go from one clown show to another.  He isn't going to lift his no trade clause to come to Philadelphia.

I agree except this quote was in there

McLane also cited a source familiar with the Eagles' thinking who said that "Howie will give up everything he has for Watson", which makes sense considering the Texans' asking price for a Top 7 quarterback entering his prime with multiple years left on his deal will be high.

There is one key point that makes this not matter. Watson has a no trade clause. Why would he want to come here? If he didnt like the FO with Texans, hes not going to like Howie. Plus we are just as bad as the Texans talent wise. Watson would not agree to come here.

I think that’s the saving grace for the eagles is he would enact his no trade and block it. Cause if he didn’t have that i totally see the eagles buying into and doing that type of move.

Wanna preface this by saying I don't think it'll happen, and I don't really think it should happen...

The one remaining big name free agent I could see Howie arranging cap space for is Juju Smith-Schuster given his extreme youth by normal free agent standards.

It would set this franchise back so many years.

We actually have everything lined up perfect for a rebuild.  We currently have 18 picks in the next 2 years with the potential to get to at least 20 Ertz trade and the famous comp picks next year.  We MOST LIKELY have 2 1st rounders next year with ours looking to be high unless this team pulls a miracle out of their butt.  We have cap space opening up to bring in FA again.

Everything lines up for the Eagles to rebuild across the board.  Only problem is we have Harry and Lloyd running the team.

I can see Howie thinking a blockbuster for Watson will get his street cred back.  Ugh, I have zero faith in this team to do anything right.

He wouldn’t be salivating over playing with our WR corps?

Howie to Texans : Hi uhm, would you trade Watson for our first rounder this year and next year?

Texans to Howie : No

Media : Eagles in the mix for Wastsons!!!=^&<

I wouldn't be surprised if Howie doesn't think we have that many holes and instead views this roster stacked with talent that he has put together but it has all been the fault of the coaching staff not getting the most out of it.   Both he and Lurie seem completely delusional enough to believe that.

I hate agreeing with you, but that thought has crossed my mind....

Fuller did OK.

More like:

Howie: We are thinking of taking a QB in the 1st so we have Hurts on the trade block if you are interested when you trade Watson.

Texans: We will keep that in mind

Media: Eagles are in the mix for Watson

It’s honestly crossed my mind too. I do not put it past howie and lurie thinking that this team is good enough to win this division because it’s a bad division and they get a bunch of guys back from injury on the oline.

I believe most of what is surfacing is coming from agent-speak, so I take the information with a grain of salt. I seriously doubt that Sirianni has bought into such a scheme. It is his reputation at stake as well..I believe the Eagles have a plan and we are seeing the first few signs. Getting under the cap without a complete fire sale, bringing in some depth so they can free up positions for the draft...next up coaching tup the young players

Thinking the Pats should go all in on Watson.  Kraft could use a massage parlor wingman.

But they should be having a complete fire sale.  This is the time to tear it all down and start anew yet they seem to be trying to run it back away and keep aging expensive veterans around while making sure their impact on the cap is felt for years long after they are gone.

That idea is not a 'reach.'

I don't agree at all. They have enough holes to fill, they can't afford to keep adding more holes. It took time to create the cap hell...it will just take time to get back out of it.

Could be worse the Flyers after getting killed 9-0 yesterday just blew a 3 goal lead in the third.
