I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Now that we know Lurie is at the controls, it makes it a little more interesting to make generalizations about their blueprint and what they look for.  We can continue to look at prior Eagle tendencies/identities without giving way to random speculation about what Sirianni likes or what the Colts did.  This applies to Jamar Chase.

Lurie/Howie/Lowie have been extremely committed to having 1 (or more) power forward possession WRs in their offense for years now.  Alshon Jeffery, 12 personnel, and JJAW are all a part of this blueprint.  They really, really want that in their offense.  I think that's archaic, but let's stay on point.  The 2020 draft, much to my transient delight, was a major departure from that.  And the initial returns are bad, quite bad.

Ertz has 2 feet out the door and JJAW is getting ready to transition to the CFL.  They are not going to be left with a single TE as the only big, physical receiver in their offense.

Unless they just fell completely in love with Smith and want to compensate for their SEC draft neglect, that might knock him out of contention.  Ditto Waddle after a trade down.

Pitts is really the type of guy that they would lust after and have above Chase/Smith.  Chase plays the brand of football they want in their WRs, but he doesn't have the height...not sure if they would still fall in love with him for that role because he plays bigger than he is...but I have a hard time imaging a Lowie offense that rolls with 11 personnel and Chase/Reagor/Ward, all pretty short guys.  In that scenario, I wonder if they might try to add some size to the mix and salvage JJAW in the slot.

If sewell is off the board and they aren’t taking a QB (still not completely sold on that) i think pitts and chase are the two most likely players they’d select at 6 cause of that.

Would be a hell of a trio catching the ball with julio, pitts and Ridley

That’s a team I think Pitts could make sense for. For us though, I’d rather go true WR.

To me those players wanting to select chase or pitts at six doesnt mean much. I think slay having that opinion on Boldin is likely because he probably watched film on him or watched him play and that’s how he visualize him as a comp in the NFL. Whether or not they want him doesn’t make a difference to me. I just thought it was a high praise from a current player

Sirianni likes big X WRs, he's worked with Allen, and Reich made that a staple of his offense here and in Indy. So don't think it's a Lowie thing.

We'll see what happens with JJAW, my suspicion is all WRs on the roster (and TE and H-back candidates) start from ground zero with a new HC.

JJAW actually has very similar measurements to Trey Burton.

I have no idea if ATL wants him or not, but it wouldn't make sense to me if I were them.

They need a QB.  It's one thing to invest in a receiver/whatever Pitts is when you are starting from scratch and have no weapons.  Start somewhere.  But you don't need to completely round out your stable 1 thru 3 with first round picks when you are turning over your QB in the next 2 years (and when you SHOULD turn him over now).

Sirianni mentioned that he wants a physical guy who can block. Whether you’re 6-4 or 6-0, I’m not sure it matters.

They need a quarterback? Pat Kirwin on Sirius yesterday talk about it and what he’s heard. Ryan has been the least of Atlanta‘s problems. Ryan is 36 years old. In today’s NFL he could realistically play until he is 40. He hasn’t had a major injury. Add on the fact they just restructured his contract so next year (2022) his cap number is 48 million and if they release or trade him it’s 40 million in dead money. So he’s back next year anyway. So you’re gonna take a quarterback that sits for two years? Possible cause Aaron Rodgers did it but I’m guessing they’re gonna wanna lower his cap number so next year they’re going to restructure again meaning it’s highly likely he’s back in 2023. So really it’s likely 3 years with Ryan.

Having similar measurements to Julio Jones, Gronk, Ty Hill, or Metcalf is noteworthy because it's rare and those exceptional traits made those guys great.

Having similar measurements to Trey Burton, Boldin, Michael Thomas, Wes Welker, Deandre Hopkins, JJAW, Travis Fulgham, et al doesn't make you any one of those players.  It just means you are in the average pool of measurables for all NFL talent.

If the QB is 36 years old and is the least of your problems, that is a big problem.  What are the odds that the Falcons win a SB with Matt Ryan, given his age and their other, bigger problems?  0.00001%?

That means they need a quarterback.  Should have traded Ryan to WTF then, or someone similar.

It means JJAW has similar size and athleticism for a role that was filled in both Philly and Indy under Reich, so he may be considered for that role under Sirianni

We have such an exceptional history with emphasizing physicality and blocking from our WR personnel.

I don’t think anyone is taking a QB in the top 5 with the intention of them not starting by year 2. Rodgers slid into the 20’s and Packers were lucky, different situations IMO.

The fact that they restructured his contract so they can’t get out of it until after 2022 and they’re likely going to have to restructure it again next year tells you they’re not gonna take a quarterback. They are locked into Matt Ryan for the next three years simply because of that contract. To just get rid of Matt Ryan next year his dead money is $40.4 million. They’re not gonna do it.  if he doesn’t play well next year no one‘s going to trade them anything good for him. So you just gonna cut him and eat 40.4 million? And if he plays good/great you’re not gonna trade him because he played that way

you can say they’re not gonna win a Super Bowl however he is still playing at a very high-level. Should they have done that? I agree they should have. But you’re gonna have a quarterback you take out 4 sit for three years? I highly doubt that.

Exactly my point. Atlanta is locked into Matt Ryan at least through 2022 with the restructure they just did. In 2022 his cap number is $48 million. His dead money number is $40.4 million. They are going to have to restructure that agin going into the 2022 season. that means he’s likely around through 2023. So Atlanta is going to take a quarterback at four even though Matt Ryan is going to be there for three more years? I highly doubt that

What role is that? 3rd string TE?

How does one lawyer find 9 separate women alleging sexual assault by Deshaun Watson?  Why would they all be coming forward at the same time?

I was asking myself the same question earlier today when the reports were 3 women.  In the one report it said the one woman, who was allegedly coerced to perform oral, "blacked out from fear” ..... hmmm.   I know we’re in the age of ..... whatever, but would someone actually black out from fear under those circumstances?  I don’t even think any of Ted Bundy’s victims blacked out from fear.

Seems awfully dubious to me

I am so glad to get rid of Sunday ticket. ESPN+ will be a much better option.

Not even close, on paper maybe, but in the real world they're two completely different human beings physically.

Canes has better toast, the chicken is equivalent to middle of nowhere gas station chicken though.

I have to be honest , if I owned a team , I can’t say I would be 100 % hands off .

I would go to the games and I would make the decisions I needed to make. But I wouldn't butt in all the time because at the end of the day I'm just a rich Tater at that point.
