I'd argue Harris is better than McLeod, would still like to see Hooker.  He's young with potential.

He'll sign with Dallas however.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Anthony Harris is a legitimately good safety. This is a good contract.

wasnt he one of the top wants in this thread last year? I feel like he was pumped up as the best safety on the market?

By the way, I'm pretty sure this doesn't even cost us the Mills comp pick.  I think this will just cancel out Cam Johnston or Rudy Ford.

Harris is a fine player, just not sure it makes sense to sign him to this team on a 1 year deal when we are in a rebuild. Someone mentioned to get a comp pick when he signs somewhere else next year which is possible. But not sure what other value it brings to this team this year. Maybe he is here to help out Wallace.

Yep. Coming off that 6 INT season, he was a hot commodity.

I’d prefer young flyer types who have a chance to be re-signed next year as part of our next window at winning, but it’s hard to find fault in a team adding a good player at a cheaper than expected salary who has the bonus of knowing the defense. Not perfect, but pretty solid.

Gannon coached him for three years.

This sums up my thoughts.  Well said.

A safety who knows the D, and is a ballhawk to pair with McLeod.

Get the same type of solid CB signing opposite Slay, and we have a solid D.

Harris?  A little puzzling.

Good starter, nice tidy contract.  0 chance he’s still on the roster by the time the Eagles are competitive again.  Doesn’t bode well for what they think of Wallace.  You have to sign a proven, quality starting safety in a throwaway year instead of seeing what Wallace has got?

If he hauls in 6 int this year, the move is to let him walk for a free comp pick.

I just hope signing Anthony Harris doesn't stop us from drafting a safety early.

As of now its pretty clear he is the starter as soon as he returns. Thats the starting safety combo in my mind. Dont really care who the band-aid is.

I know he was who everyone wanted instead of Sendejo

If true, that makes me feel better.  Wallace showed nothing last year, but I’d rather he get a shot this year.

Johnston doesn’t count and Rudy likely isn’t enough to matter

1-2 year solid starter signings on reasonable contracts, to buy time to draft/develop other talent is what Howie used to do well.

Why does Johnston not count?  And you're incorrect on Ford.  A contract will first cancel out a lost player at the same or less salary.   Only if there is no contract left to cancel out will it cancel out a higher value contract.

Harris, Slay, Adoree Jackson? 3/4 pretty solid players in the secondary if that happens.

Totally different type players.  Wallace, unfortunately, is probably going to be a casualty of the scheme change unless he can excel as a sub-package player.

Going for round 2!!!

That’s my fear as well. He seems more suited for a box-safety role. If we’re going two-high, that’s a problem since the knock on him was that he struggled the further from the LOS he played.

Like the Harris pick. Still hoping they address the safety position early in the draft.

I really hope that because of the 2 S FA signings that they won't F up and not draft a S (I prefer 2) in this deep S class.  But, that's usually their MO is to F up drafting a good player in a position that's deep in the draft.

I'm interested to see them use him as a Nickel LB.
