I would assume Gannon would play plenty of three-safety lineups, so theoretically there is room for Wallace to get some snaps. Of course that would likely mean we didn’t draft a safety early.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Why does Johnston not count?  And you're incorrect on Ford.  A contract will first cancel out a lost player at the same or less salary.   Only if there is no contract left to cancel out will it cancel out a higher value contract.

A contract has to be enough to qualify first. I don’t know for sure if Fords is enough, if it is he will count towards the formula, if it’s not he won’t. Andrew Adams contract definitely won’t qualify so that’s why we can sign him and other vet min guys that don’t matter towards comp picks.

Johnston doesn’t count because he was a RFA and they chose not to tender him.

Yep, good point - forgot about Johnston being an RFA.

Ford's contract is well over the minimum so I'm fairly confident it will be a qualifying contract.

Also a decent chance that McLeod starts the year on PUP.  I still want to draft a safety in the first three rounds.

Its just 1 nice move. So far....

It would be a shame if Howie proved you all wrong and showed that he really can change gears and go back to making great short term, cap conscious signings that always got everyone in here excited all the time.

I really dont think the guy just forgot how to be a great GM.

Im still good with that. A 29 year old to pair with injury prone and aging McLeod is clearly not the long term solution. But the signing is good enough to buy time for another rookie to acclimate to the NFL before you move on from McLeod.

Lol. Would be nice if he signed players that might help us when we’re good in three years...

I know Jackson isn’t going to missed in Tennessee.  But he has to be better than what we put out there oppo Slay.  Not to mention his "to the house” ability if he gets a pic

yep. itd be a good signing.

His stats are good. And I know it doesnt mean much, but I remember watching a Titans game and the announcers really hyping the guy as a pro bowl talent. I suspect maybe attitude is a bigger issue than on field performance.

If you get him for a year or 2 while the team is kind of a mess anyway.... he either straightens out and matures, or you move on. In the meantime, he improves that #2 CB position immensely.

Ive been thinking of Slay, Jackson, and Baker... all that speed at CB would match up well with the NFCE WRs.

When the time comes he can do that.

Right now these are bridge years.

Hes not going to let this team suck its way to a top 10 pick again. Hes gonna make nice little moves like this Harris signing so we are somewhat respectable.

But, hes going to ensure he regains cap flexibility. And when the time is right, the big moves will come again.

Obviously right now, he cant sign a young player to a long term deal. Theres no money for it this offseason.

This is just a circular argument because Howie is why we don’t have the money...

Jeepers people it's not like Howie signed the guy for 5 years. We still need players this year. It's a good player signing,  quit yer beetching.

because it was a different phase for the team. And now he can go back to the phase where he makes these solid to great cap conscious moves to build the team back to contention.

Its only circular if you understand simple logic to understand the concept of a cycle. If not, then its a dead end argument where you are stuck looking foolish.

Seeing all these pics of Howie just now and it dawned on me who he resembles:

Mark 'Rat' Ratner

From the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982)

The actor is Brian Backer.

The booze is kicking in.

Wr should want the top ten pick next yr

So this is what? 5M? for Harris?

How far under the cap were we actually? I didnt think we had that much, especially after a Killins deal, the former president we signed to play safety... and the millions we will need to sign Rookies.

There could be void years on the Harris deal to make the cap hit more manageable.

Not too worried about it. If our coach is any good, we will be fine.

Maybe Ertz trade incoming? Not sure how they could sign him either.

Yeah, from the Colts. If you're suggesting it's good for a team to have 2 consecutive completely trash seasons, I adamantly disagree.

Friday night would be the perfect time to announce an undesirable return for Ertz.

5 mil for Harris is a reaaaaallly good pickup
