Mark Zumoff did the Purdue North Texas game?  I thought I recognized his voice.

I thought that was Tom McCarthy doing the TV game?

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

It seems like Adoree Jackson can be a buy low short term prove it candidate.

I see why people are saying hes not good. He missed 13 games after a pre-season knee injury. Played 3 games last year, and stats were not as good as the previous year.

You can compare 2019 and 2020 numbers here. Big difference.

because it was a different phase for the team. And now he can go back to the phase where he makes these solid to great cap conscious moves to build the team back to contention.

Its only circular if you understand simple logic to understand the concept of a cycle. If not, then its a dead end argument where you are stuck looking foolish.

If you're targeting 2023-25, then signing a guy who'll be 27 in 2021 means he'll be 30 in 2024, in the out years of the deal, and probably not worth the cap hit when it matters.

If you patch the next two years, then start signing guys in 2023 and 2024 as the rookie classes of 2020-22 are starting and getting their 2nd contracts, they'll all be approaching or in their peak years during the same stretch, then around 2026-27 you assess the team and cap, and decide if you're a player away or do you step back for a year and reload for the rest of the decade. You can do that when the heart of your team is 26-30 in 2026-27. So you get a 3-4 year run, and still have a solid team that can be quickly reloaded. The guys you resign in 2023-25 will be in the "value years" of their second contract.

One advantage of one year turn around deals for guys near 30 is someone will give them a good contract if they perform and you'll get a solid comp pick. If not, well, no loss.

From yesterday. I wonder if his old agent gave him some bad advice.

Two Ss on one year deals suggests they draft a S and give him a year to prepare.

You could tell when the surf was good when I was in high school because the surfers would be missing.  The kid that had been our QB in Jr. High probably would have started in high school.  He was pretty damn good.   But between 9th and 10th he found surfing and quit football. He taught me how to surf.  Now big waves in the Gulf are three-four footers so the challenge wasn’t that great.

Classic early 80s film.

And Phoebe Cates pool scene. Wowsers!

*I'm old.

You must remember Private School (from 1983), with not only Phoebe Cates but a 19 year-old Betsy Russell.  She was out of her clothes more often than in them IIRC.  That’s the teen movie I remember most.

Let’s hope that’s the case.

Most of our draft picks are going to be 150+ (7). Throw in a half dozen priority UDFAs and another half dozen SFAs and waiver wire pickups at the end of August, adding the rookies and SFAs from last season, and a good part of our roster or the PS are going to need 1-2 years of development before they'll be credible starters/top backups. So we need a few veterans to hold the fort this year.

We definitely need another safety and a couple corners.  But most posters are obsessing over WR or Pitts.

Been saying this all offseason.  We need to grab at least one IOL too and given we have three DEs, probably need to look for a DE.  We also desperately need at least one more QB.  The obsession by some with WRs will never end though.  I would argue a #2 RB is more important. Same WR fanatics for the most part, were touting the whole low floor/high ceiling concept last year but have now concluded the that the three draft choices from last year are low floor with no chance of a high ceiling.

Yup.. the writer director was from my university, UCSB so there are a lot of UC Santa Barbara references throughout the movie... Perry’s Pizza .. the kid in the opening mall scene... UCSB with it own surf and beach was a crazy place in the 80s ... lots of Spicollis running around

I bet a lot of people are obsessed about WR because we've had absolutely horiffic WR play for years now

Nah. They are just obsessed with WRs.

Point is there's no rush to add these guys this offseason, similar guys will be available two years from now.

This you?

For context, there’s no need to sign a 27 year old LB like Anthony Walker to a 1 year deal because Howie didn’t sign him and guys like him will be available 2 years from now, but it makes all the sense in the world to sign an older, more expensive S to a 1 year deal because vets are needed to hold the fort and Howie did sign him.

Too much for this old brain to process. A Twilight Zone episode I did not see.

More like:

Howie: We are thinking of taking a QB in the 1st so we have Hurts on the trade block if you are interested when you trade Watson.

Texans: We will keep that in mind

Media: Eagles are in the mix for Watson

Yeah at this juncture I would rather trade up for Wilson then trade for Watson but I’m ok riding with Hurts and expect vast improvement

By the way, I'm pretty sure this doesn't even cost us the Mills comp pick.  I think this will just cancel out Cam Johnston or Rudy Ford.

Who?

Can’t say I blame you. I love the Birds, but this current state of the team has left me very apathetic in many regards.

I’m expecting Hurts to be way more comfortable rolling to his left
