If other teams expected Harris to turn it around, he would not have taken a 1 year 5m deal with one of the worst teams in the nfl.  They might be wrong, but it’s telling.

But then again, why not gamble on him? It's not like we're a super bowl contender

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

hopefully more naked. There is nothing worse than a show with tons of season 1 nudity and then 0 in season 2 (and 3) like Elite.

By the way, I watched 365 days with Mrs HE the other day. I learned that the Polish are messy ice cream eaters.

you ready, partner? discovered by 𝑬𝒎𝒎𝒂 𝑮 𝑺𝒕𝒐𝒏𝒆

and very very hot. And naked a lot.

Is that a man?

Can’t say I blame you. I love the Birds, but this current state of the team has left me very apathetic in many regards.

I guess the argument is it should’ve happened sooner ... 2019 ??? I think Lowie should’ve done their homework that there would never be a 2017 Wentz anytime in the next 50 years and that’s what they thought they drafted. Good try, bad luck but they should’ve been ready to cut bait especially when Schwartz was telling them CW was slackin’ ... not really trying to get back to 2017 form. Just think no DJAX, Malik, Alshon, Slay, Hargreaves if they had reset when they should’ve. A weird, career changing injury is what I blame this on and Lowie in denial

I think he’s a good addition...not thrilled for what it says about Wallace, but we are used to writing off draft picks, so whatever.

Been saying this all offseason.  We need to grab at least one IOL too and given we have three DEs, probably need to look for a DE.  We also desperately need at least one more QB.  The obsession by some with WRs will never end though.  I would argue a #2 RB is more important. Same WR fanatics for the most part, were touting the whole low floor/high ceiling concept last year but have now concluded the that the three draft choices from last year are low floor with no chance of a high ceiling.

We have the worst WRs in the nfl.

Yep. It’s weird that there’s pushback at all on WR talk. We don’t have a single (proven) starting quality receiver on the roster.

It’s one thing to be patient with a first-round pick like Reagor, but the cupboard is bare otherwise, and we likely can’t afford to sign a real one in FA.

If we’re going to be a zone-heavy cover two team, why spend a high first on a CB?

21 hours ago, Alphagrand said:

You’re being very kind at 3 of the "skill positions” — WR, RB, CB

WR is a bottom 5 unit.  Reagor would need to make a big leap, and a draft pick WR1 would need to have a 1,000-yard season to make this a competitive group

RB doesn’t have a #2 — Scott is a #3 RB on most teams.  Need a pile-mover who can get tough yardage and capable of 20+ carries when Sanders inevitably taps out for games

CB — Slay is the only reason this isn’t the worst group in the NFL.  A complete overhaul is required.

Cheerup, just need 50+ more yards per game on offense and 30 less on defense and a PLUS T/O differential and we will be competitive. Last season OFFENSE  335,  DEFENSE 364, T/O diff -10

The really bad and sad part is, this front office have been trying to fix the position for years and failed miserably, with a capital M. Now it's to the point that we have the worst receiving core in the entire league with the same damn front office expected to fix it. Along with all the other positions they failed at.

I do find it interesting that Gannon coached both Hooker and Harris and went with the guy who played for Zimmer. He has plenty of high-level single-high experience, but the Vikings went more to a cover 2 defense last year. He supposedly struggled with the move.

I still don’t quite have a grasp on what a Zimmer defense is.

Don’t worry, Howie will magically make good moves and listen to the right people now that we’re rebuilding. He only failed because he was trying to win.

Vikes have been slowly changing how they go about it on D , last year they were bad , they have been in the process of a lot of player changes , they may have two of the best young corners in glandney and dantzler both rooks last year .

more cover 3 and 43 under as opposed to over . Zimmer  brought in Capers for a reason , help change things up

I'm not 100% sure about Adoree Jackson. He does have the speed we will need to defend the good receivers now in our division, but he's a little on the short side and not very physical, two components I thought Gannon would have wanted. I guess for a 1 year deal similar to The Harris deal would be fine while addressing CB very high in the draft regardless.

Very high in the draft!  Yes!

Which do you prefer of Surtain, Farley, Horn?

If Sewell is there at 6 I hope we run to the podium to take him.  If not I would like a trade back, no further than the Broncos at 9 and my choice would be Farley at 9.  If they get one of Sewell, Farley, Surtain I'll be happy..  Chase or Pitts not as happy but not apoplectic.   QB will make me cry.  DE in top 12 (San Fran trade) will make me do unspeakable things.

I'm not a fan of taking a position like corner in the 1st that the league via rules has set that position up to constantly fail.

It's a passing league and the rules grossly favor QB and WRs and even OL.

The days of shut down corners are long gone and spending big money orcs first round pick on a position that gets lit up week to week no matter who or what team seems like a poor use of resources.

2017 the eagles had the least amount of money allocated to Corner, yet one of the highest amounts allocated to safety

.teams have shown over and over again that one doesn't need elite or even top corners to win, just capable.

This has been Afan's argument and it has never made sense to me, particularly with respect to the draft..

Yep. If the Eagles had been middle of the pack drafting the last 3 years, the roster would not be as barren as it is in regards to young talent.

Its all about free agency. You cant really grade Howie on the draft because most of the time someone else has been running the entire process. Now, you can question whether Howie purposely seeks out that fall guy to put above him all the time. Thats frustrating. In the end, the fact remains, hes not really running that process.

As far as free agency goes, we saw him for years making short term no risk, high upside cap conscious signings, and make great value on trades. Until after the super bowl, when he got reckless trying to keep the team together and overpaying aging guys. Its very simple for him to stop doing those kind of contracts and start churning the roster gain.

if you don’t have quality CBs , you better have a top pass rush .

It's funny you said since a lot of Eagles fans make Joe Douglas out to be some draft guru and when he was running the show our drafts were horrendous. Howie deserves blame no doubt about it, but not putting a fair amount of the blame on Douglas too is stupid.

His free agency has been terrible too. He keeps adding expensive DTs and nickel corners while the rest of the roster suffers. His last successful FA signing was probably alshon.  Almost nothing he has done since 2017 has been good.

Trades have also been horrible since 2017. Last successful trade was probably ajayi. Slay is good but he had to get a new contract, which made it a bad move for the team since we aren't winning ish while he's good

yeah Douglas was horrible. I said that from the beginning. Theres a reason the Ravens let him go, and theres a reason hes already gone from here. Hes horrible. His drafts were Horrible and Howie haters dont blame Douglas for that because they say Howie had the final say on the picks. But he worked off Joe's ridiculous board. So they werent really Howie's picks. People refuse to accept that simple idea.

You can criticize the fact that Howie seems to want to keep a guy like Douglas around though so that Howie never really has to take the blame for drafts. I have wanted him, for years, to finally have unquestioned control over the entire draft process so that one day we can finally know how he does with it.

sine 2017. Exactly what I said. That was a different phase of roster management. This year, we have changed phases and youll see his contracts and the type of players he brings in looking much different.

Yup, bucs didn't have great corners either but their pass rush was really good

The chiefs the year before their corners were pretty sub oar but their pass rush was pretty good.

Of course the giants in 2008? Are the blue print, their pass rush was devastating which made their  subpart corners look better.

The eagles pads rush in 2017 was good, even in the superbowl the big play wasn't an int from a DB it was a strip sack from a DL.

Sadly this draft is devoid of top d line talent though I'm sure some will emerge it's just a matter of finding them.

I didn’t say great , I said quality, and they have a top 15 one in Davis  and Dean grades out well too

Are you going to give Howie a pass on free agency this year since we have no money during this first year of the phase switch? The types of players he brings in will be low tier special teams guys because we can't afford anyone else
