I mean I'm sure they may have taken it to the next level but I agree, even if you're being sarcastic.  Yes, there are extreme cases of hazing but there is also a comradery and bonding that comes with it.  I remember my sophomore year, 1997 first we went away to summer camp.  The whole team.  Every night there were initiations, nothing bad but things that once it happened to you, you weren't allowed to discuss it with the other sophomores.  It created a suspense and semi-fear but we also knew our buddies who got it were just fine.  Then the last night after the last guy got it we celebrated as a team and we were welcomed, no longer the sophomores but part of the team.

Then all through 2adays, which at that time were still 3adays.  Every sophomore was assigned to a senior.  We were called their senior slave...stupid high school stuff but whatever.  All it really meant was we carried their pads the long hike up from the bottom field to the locker room, went out over lunch to get their meals.  Again, stupid stuff.  The last day of camp we were required to all give our senior a piggy back ride which really was almost a 5-minute walk.

That was our hazing.  It helped us become a team.  The senior player we were assigned in most cases became like big brothers.  They took us to parties, introduced us to the older cheerleaders and such.

There were always jokes about ookie cookies and things like that but it never happened.  IMO, just old fashioned hazing to become part of a team.

There are somethings in the news that you hear about that are absolutely too far and not acceptable but I would say that has been used as a blanket statement to overall say that any sort of hazing is unacceptable.  I was in a fraternity in college.  Hazing happened.  There was only one night that was any sort of test of true physical endurance that really separated the herd from a do you really want this or not standpoint.  But besides that most of the hazing is just mental mind tricks.  I Fing loved it looking back at it.  We used to say that it is the best fun that you would never want to have again but F that I would go through that again starting tomorrow if I had the chance all these years later.  That builds a true bond.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Telling another guy on his team he was going to make him his B is "simulated assault"??  Where do people come up with this *****?

The question is did he just tell him that or did they actually do something in the form of actual physical assault?  If it got to the level of there was actual physical assault that fit with the context of what he said then that absolutely 100% crosses the line.  Sticking something up anyone's ass is crossing the line any day of the week. That just flat out isn't acceptable and deserves to be called out and further.

But if they have a years passed down tradition of what is ultimately just passed down grand elaborate theatrics that work to trick someone into thinking some bad crap is about to happen or they have to really do some next level crazy crap after doing mostly just moderately crazy crap that they have been doing for the past several weeks but instead if they get through the mental fear of their present circumstances in those moments and they will ultimately realize soon after when the gig of the night is up that there was no actual danger of their fears whatsoever and they were just getting Fed with.  So if that is the case with Parsons, then there isn't anything wrong with that.  That's just some good old fashioned hazing for people who signed up for it.

I always found frats, pledging, and hazing ridiculous.  Never understood the motivation to do it.  But no one forces you to do it.  Lots of people do crazy, self-destructive crap on their own time.  File it into that category.

When it's your place of employment, it's a different story.

I didn't read it at first I was just going off what you were replying to where it sounded like he just said something. I'm not arguing about lines at all. My issue was with the BS name of virtual sexual assault. Way I was taught assault in school was an attempt with intent to cause injury.

And yeah. Most of us have been in locker rooms where hazing and all kinds of nasty stuff went on at times. Doesn't make it right. Just happens. But yeah that sounds like it crossed lines.

I actually respected Dez Bryant as a rookie when he said he’s here to play football and not carry anyone’s pads when Roy Williams tried to make him do it as a rite-of-passage or some tradition. The problem is that probably doesn’t sit well with guys in the locker room since it’s essentially a frat.

I’ve always found some of the stuff they make rookies do stupid. The haircuts and making them pay for five-figure dinner tabs. I don’t think that stuff happens much anymore though.

How cheap could we get Malik Hooker in here on a prove it type deal? Or is that out of the question with the Harris signing?

You are looking for a cheap hooker?   Good luck, bro.

As if it’s tough to find one of those

Try again.  Ron Solt was a steroid inflated OG, who became a below average OG once steroids were banned... right after the Eagles made that trade.

Didn't know that, having said that he wasn't the worst of that eagles O line, which is sad☹️

The hardest thing to do in the nfl is build a strong and consistent O & D line.

everyone talks about it but how many teams actually achieve it?

Yup, eagles have been pretty fortunate, ever since Reid the eagles O lines have been good to great.

Johnathan Martin didn't have the mentality that it takes to play offensive line in the NFL.  Proof by how quickly he was out while Richie Incognito, despite being completely batshit insane, is still in it.

That is why I have no faith in Andre Dillard.  Reports suggest that he has a Jonathan Martin mentality for an offensive lineman.

I don't think putting up with abusive co workers in the work place is in the job description.

But yeah I tend to agree someone who plays O line or D line and allows them self to be bullied by a teammate is probably in the wrong profession.

As for Dillard I don't think it's the same, reports are that he doesn't really have a passion for football, who knows maybe he'll be a firefighter in a couple years😉

He doesn’t love ball, he’ll be traded any minute now if it’s up to Sirianni

I wonder since Flacco is gunning for the starting job if he will fly the young WRs in the team to work out with him.  I wonder if they would or if they are loyal to Hurts.

Loyal?  He’s played 4 games and didn’t even play well.  If he was traded tomorrow they’d fight over who gets his locker

People who see Flacco as any kind of competition for Hurts must have a bizarrely low view on Hurts. Flacco hasn’t been good QB competition in almost 10 years.

Everyone in the locker room understands this.

I didn’t realize that was a thing.

Yep, Flacco is not competition.  He can say whatever he wants, but he's not competition.

From what I understand about what Siri wants to do, he wants to have a run-first offense.  Jalen's mobility is going to be huge, I can see lots of RPOs, bootlegs, etc.

Eagles fans and writers this offseason have completely jumped the shark. 90% of the Flacco talk (including the post I'm quoting here) is bat s*** nuts.

Well at least they didn't trade for a DL and move him to OL😄

Ron Solt wasn't bad but yeah he wasn't enough  to fix the rest of that O line.

So disappointing as the skins had the Hogs and Dallas had one of the best O lines in recent memory and the giants had some mashers and the eagles are trotting out trash at O line, not sure how a team can be so good at finding DL and totally blow at building an OL.

I mean missing on Kevin Allen was terrible but one in a series of picks.  In 83 they drafted Haddix who never developed into even a decent player.

Whoa.

His deal is actually 2.75 base not 4.5.

Is this sarcasm? I just don't see how you could get that out of anything Flacco has said.  He was signed as a back up.  Everyone on the team including Flacco knows he's a back up.
