QB Factory

The first evaluator says it's tough to grade wilson because he doesn't play with rhythm  needed to run a traditional west coast offense.

First how many college qbs run a west coast offense and secondly how many nfl teams run a traditional west coast offense any more?

Seriously every team runs shotgun spread maybe some west coast concepts sprinkled in but the majority of stuff or teams are running these days are the same offenses colleges and high schools are running which makes the transition for qbs and receivers a bit smoother.

Having said that Wilson has a lot of Arm talent, he's been compared with Aaron rodgers mahomes and stafford as far as arm talent goes and should make him a hot commodity, unless the eagles trade up he'll be long gone before 6.

Not that I think they should trade up.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I don't think anyone thought Byars was a reach at the time.  I mean the big difference between him and Haddix is 1) who else was drafted in 83, 2) Haddix never beat the Giants.  Byars is one of those players too that may have been much better if he was in a better offense.  I think if he had been in a West Coast system where he was receiving target.  He didn't work out to be a good RB but part of that was also the o-line he played behind.  Of course, he always ran so upright and seemed to have very tight hips.

Keith Byars broke a bone in his foot in preseason practice his senior year. He reinjured it twice trying to come back that season and was never the same dominant player he was pre injury.

Nope.  He did not leave as a free agent, he was released.  You do not get a comp pick for a player you release.

This is basic understanding of comp pics. I'm astounded that this needs to be explained.

Every off season.  That is why I get kind of p!ssy with folks in here, they make statements without basic understanding of the cap, comp pick formula etc, etc, etc.

They really will be drafting bpa

They have to go BPA.   While I want secondary help because of the lack of players there, whatever the BPA is should be the pick.  If the Eagles make a pick at 6 and it is a QB because that is the BPA, that is what they should grab.  If it is Chase, that is who they should grab.  Now part of the BPA formula is going to be team need.  But Howie does not have the luxury of a Davion Taylor pick in the first two days this year and he cannot continue the Jones, JJAW legacy of the second pick. There are a number of Day 2 options I like at IOL.

Truly pure BPA is rare, IMHO.  The need factor is always there and would be incorporated in the decision.  The current DB group is pretty bare in talent and it makes a lot of sense to go for one in the 1st round if not at #6.  Closely behind is the WR.  OL is another, but they have good choices in later rounds.

Oops you’re right.

I see Barmore and Onwuzurike mocked to them quite a bit.

Depends on how you define need.  Let’s take last year, for example.  Gerry was scheduled to be an UFA as was Riley.  Howie drafted Taylor and Bradley.  Bradley may never be more than a depth/ST linebacker but that was also part of Riley’s and Gerry’s roles. Taylor was a project, just like Gerry was coming out of Nebraska.  Intent with Taylor was probably to address a need this year, if he could be coached up because there was going to be a hole at LB.  Just like drafting Dillard in the first the year before to learn and replace JP.  I think the intent with JJAW was to have Jeffery’s replacement ready.  The intent for Reagor was to likely replace DJax.  Problem was that Jeffery got hurt and JJAW didn’t develop and DJax got hurt.  Nelson was inconsistent and got dropped with no replacement except Ward.  Jones and Douglas failed to develop as they were the plan at CB. Carson failed at franchise QB.  So the plan is to address upcoming needs before they are holes to the extent possible, so yes, need is a factor of what makes a prospect the BPA.

Now, at some point Lurie has to seriously look at things and say, the plan is good but Howie is failing to exercise it.   The blame went to Pederson for failing to properly develop prospects but that excuse for Howie is thin.   For most of us, the ice has already broken.  Lurie has more patience with Howie than we do. His 2020 class had better produce or 2021 should be the length of Lurie’s rope.

Zach Wilson at 6'2 should lock him into pick #2 with the Jets.

IF the Eagles traded back, this would be a 'Right In Howie's Wheelhouse' pick. Brandon Graham 2.0?

Only front 7 player I would take top 10 area

Brady Christensen looking good from the sounds of it , that BYU OL one of the tops in the country

His "washed upedness" will help our young qb

Will it though?   Has he ever spoken about being willing to mentor a young QB?  Or has he actually said just the opposite in the past?

Personally, I don't like this signing even a little bit, money not considered.  The extra cost just makes it even worse.

If anyone sees Cameron McGrone’s workout numbers, please post.

This team literally needs everything.  There isn't a position on the team where you can definitively say, "Yeah, we are strong here moving forward."  Not even ONE.

So, they literally can go straight BPA, because no position that they could draft wouldn't be greatly benefited by having a stud added to the mix.  So, picking at #6, you want to land a stud.  And if you can land a stud at a premium position, that needs to be the goal when selecting in the top 10.
