Eagles roster lacks elite talent

Eagles finally in position to add an elite player with pick 6

Eagles trade out of pick 6 a month before the draft is here

Eagles picking after rival teams Dallas and NYG allowing them to have first dibs at BPA.

I think they have given up on this season. It's basically seeing what Hurts can do. Ideally he balls big time on a bad team so we can help him with potentially 3 first rounders next year. If he does not play well then we will drwft a new qb.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

3 first rounders in 2022 , a 4th this year the team didn't have and with the 12th pick select jacee horn

Eagles tried to trade up for a QB and failed. They now have 2 1st rounders (likely 3) next year. Do the math.

Only holdup is cap space. They have the ammo now for Watson.

There is zero chance Lurie would approve a trade for Watson. This isn't Vick for nothing after he served his time.

As far as QBs, I'll take the rumors of trading up with a grain of salt, I'm sure Howie inquired, the same way his coaches went to pro days, but that's what GMs do, partially just to collect information, partially to be open if someone makes an offer you can't refuse. But it doesn't mean the call was serious, i.e., hard core negotiation. We've already seen this offseason that the media jumps on every phone call as if it's a done deal.

Optionality - you want as many lottery tickets as possible, and wait for the right time to cash them in.

There was no elite talent at 6.

If QB goes 1 2 3 or possibly 1 2 3 4

You're getting one of Chase, Sewell (even though I didn't want him), Pitts.  All 3 of those guys are ELITE.

Russell Wilson will be 33 next year.  Watson is facing 24  is it sexual assault claims.

Pass on both for me.

Wilson will be a legitimate starter in the league until he's 40. But yeah, I'm out on Watson.

Eagles naming Hurts the starter and voicing trust and excitement for him is merely to gain interest from other teams, namely the Texans. They will trade him and our 1st 3 picks next year for Watson if they can make room. We have our backup already in Flacco in case Watson faces suspension.

You could be sitting at six on draft day and Carolina wants a quarterback there and is willing to give you the same package at that time if not more and the dolphins trying to move up as well. Again you’re assuming the Dolphins were the only team that was gonna be in play for the six pick at any point in time. That was true today that doesn’t mean draft day there’s not multiple teams winding up trying to get up to six and that pick has more value. What if the Dolphins are on the clock, trade that pick to move back to 8, get a future first and a 3rd this year. Again my point was the value of that pick could be higher on draft day and you sold yourself short. That doesn’t mean I hate the move that’s just telling you the reality that that could be worth more on that particular day based on how the board falls.

Yeah, that's a lot of maybe's. Bird in hand ... I get what you're saying but it's a gamble and it's just as likely that all the players teams would trade for are gone in the first 5 and the player you end up taking at 6 probably would still be there at 12. See I can create maybe's too. This is a good deal for the Eagles  ... bird in hand.

Waddle is still an option at 12. Not interested, but he's an option.

Could be a QB there that a team badly wanted to trade up for in draft day. Got to remember Carolina, Denver, New England all want a QB. So on draft day that pick could have more value if a QB falls to 6 with teams getting into a bidding war to move up to nab him. If a QB is not there then it looks much better of a trade as the value is likely what they got. I don’t hate that trade I also don’t love it. Because I don’t know how the board is going to fall on draft day yet.

They gained 1 pick, and that’s next year.

This team is not making the playoffs this year, so a 1st next year is still very, very valuable.

Watson or Wilson are now viable options in 2022.

Yup, if I had to guess, I'd say Wilson, they always talk about missing on him in the draft

I think it’s clear. Eagles will draft Slater or the best CB/DE available. If I had to put money on it, I would bet DL prospect.

Howie! That’s why we used to love you!

This has always been Howie's strong point, rebuilding, wheeling and dealing for a little edge here and there, lots of interconnected moves, that add up.

Howie's a smart guy, got a little full of himself after the SB, tried too hard to keep the magic alive, but he'll learn from his mistakes.

If your gonna guarantee something please do it for something bad to happen to the Eagles.

First, hey.

Second, I'd be so mad if we wasted all that capital on Wilson when he's in his 30s and this team is a long ways away from competing.

Plus, given his age and contract, will probably be cheaper in draft capital.

I would put good money that the Eagles don’t pick at #12. They have the ability to trade up if someone falls and if not, I bet they trade back and get someone like Horn, Bateman, etc.

Just not Rousseau please.  I'd bet Horn or Barmore

There’s a possibility both ways. It’s why I won’t say it was a good deal until I see the board on draft day. I think they did OK in the moment. I never said I hated the trade. I just don’t love it blindly. That doesn’t change my argument. The ultimate argument I made was on draft day the value of that pick could be higher than what they sold it for. So they may have undersold it. Won’t know until draft day in how the board falls

Just wait until the Eagles draft Mac Jones at 12, this place will really explode then.

Right. I know people talk about his age, but if you're looking at this from the FO perspective, Russ could potentially give you 5 or 6 years of really good football and take this team back to the Super Bowl. So for them, the price would be right and from the fans perspective, if Russ took the team to the Super Bowl and won 1 or 2, there wouldn't be many complaints.

Howie: Makes a move that most of the fanbase is happy with

Even if you get Wilson or Watson, this team is YEARS away from competing.  They make the Eagles better but they also have huge salaries that will hamper the Eagles ability to sign free agents, thus putting all faith back on Howie to make good draft picks.

I don't know what to think about this team anymore.

I love having draft pick ammo because I like the idea of building a team through the draft.  It also can start a trickle down effect of using those 1sts to trade out and get a 1st the following year.

Ideally, we have 2 1st round picks to use on a 21 year old starter and core piece while the 3rd 1st is used in a trade back scenario for a 2023 1st or 2023 2nd.

Per Source: Bateman ran a 4.37 hand time and a 4.39 laser at the Exos combine.

Bateman at 12 please
