I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I was reading Tommy’s write up fantasizing about picking Parsons and he brought up his blitzing at PSU.  Do you know who was a solid blitzer from the MiKE position at Memphis?  Genard Avery.  It is how he was projected to DE in the draft.  May just be why they moved him to LB this year.  Now, puhlease, I am not comparing Avery to Parsons.  Far from it.  It was just the Zimmer LB blitz approach that got me thinking.  Eagles have four LBs with MIKE experience/size on the roster and three of them have enough speed to play SAM as well. But only one of them has that blitz experience, Avery.  Schwartz seemed to like S/WIL sized LBs. My guess is Gannon wants LB sized linebackers. Avery has the bulk but is a tad short.

He looks too much like what we already have.  Rousseau looks like he could explode as a force on the line.  But I'm so often wrong about these things you could call me Howie.

That's kind of what I was posting about over the weekend.  Paye is the steady DE.  He probably comes in here and gives you another Derek Barnett kind of guy.  Once BG retires we then have 2 DE who will give you 6 sacks per year but no one that the other offense has to game plan against.

If Rousseau can play up to his potential, he has a chance to be better than Chase Young.  I want to have a DE who is a force.  We haven't had that since what Trent Cole?  Maybe Hugh Douglas?  I'm not trying to downplay what BG has meant to this team but I want next level.

Let's say the following position players are gone at 12: Sewell, Slater, Chase, Pitts, Waddle, Horn, Parsons are gone-who would you take or try to trade back again?

It’s not who I would take — Howie would draft Devonta Smith and tell the media he was the plan all along at #6

Lets play it out bud...

2021 schedule looks hard, this team is depleted. I say 4-13 this year. MAYBE 5-12

2022. Probably draft a rookie QB at this point. Off the top of my head there's few instant success rookie QB;'s, Still in Salary cap hell. Ya, I can see 6-11.

Then 2023. This is the crap shoot. You could have a new coach. You could still have Howie? You could have a 2nd year QB. And Dallas/Redskins/Giants are only going up... yea, I can 7-10

The problem is, this has been a 10 lose team for awhile now(even with Carson and Doug) but because they played in the worst division in football we didnt realize it. Lipstick on a pig.

Classic negadelphian rant. 4-13?! You think they are going to be worse than the demoralized, injury-ravaged group led by the worst starting QB in the NFL we saw last season? Unless you're one of those weirdos who hates Jalen Hurts for no reason other than he replaced your rural Christian hero...or you think Sirianni is going to be trash because of poor press conferences.

There's so much unknown going into next year. It's crazy for anyone to have a definitive stance on the 2021 team other than that they're not Super Bowl contenders.

By the way, it's so weird seeing these 17-game records... Gonna take some getting used to.

We'll see. That's why they play the games.

Eagles are going to have a lot of draft picks the next two years, a development oriented staff that's more likely to find diamonds in the rough than Doug/Schwartz.

Right now, this feels more like 1998 if they fired Rhodes a year early and brought in AR. Except I don't know if Sirianni is as hard nosed, but I think the Eagles will do a better job drafting than 1998-2000, where they nailed the easy picks but whiffed later in the draft. But AR did find lots of hidden gems those early years:

1999:  Weaver TE #208-99, H Thomas DT UDFA, Martin FB #172, C Lewis TE (waived then brought back), Whiting DE #112-98, Moore S #128-99, Harris CB waivers, Miller C UDFA, Reese LB #142-98. (of course he also inherited a solid core of players in Tra, Douglas, Trotter, Taylor, Vincent & Dawkins)

Lewis was pro bowl 2000, Martin started at FB, Miller at C, Thomas at DT, Moore at S, Harris NCB.

You just don't know, Tyree Jackson could be a bust, or our Alie-Cox (Indy UDFA that Michaels helped coach into a starting TE). But I'm a lot more optimistic with this coaching staff running a rebuild than the last one. Come 2023, we'll find out if Sirianni is a game day coach.

Two things that make me say "oh jeez":

Calling anybody "bud".

The phrase "lipstick on a pig" as if lipstick alone would make a pig more attractive.

That's the point of the phrase....you put lipstick on it and it's still a pig.

Dress the team up any way you want, they're terrible right now. Maybe a good draft fixes some of it

I’d predict the Eagles go 7-10:

— strength of schedule is important.  NFC South and AFC West will be easier than NFC West and AFC North was last season

— Eagles will return to comparative health in 2021 — by that I mean a league-average amount of injuries rather than being ravaged as they were from 2016-2020.  I firmly believe the injuries were resulting from the coaches and offseason program not having these players physically ready to go Week 1

– we will begin to see some drafted players making an impact this season — that might be Reagor, Mailata, Dillard, Wallace, 2021 picks ..... maybe even Hurts will make a leap

— Sirianni will have some growing pains but will be better creating a game plan, and fewer goofy analytics in the in-game decisions.  Can we punt a team deep instead of gambling and giving the ball away at midfield please?

What are the odds Howie trades down from 37?

Eagles go 0-16-1 and Roseman is canned.

Make it so.

Trade back

Just now, Bacarty2 said:

I think trading back out of 12 is more realistic.

Going from 12 to 22 wouldnt shock me one bit

37 to 27 would be like HOLY SH!T

I mean to be honest at this point I don't think I'd be against them trading further back. They have a nice haul next year and they could potentially further add to that this year or next. I think they could still move back another couple of spots and take a player in that category that they could get at #12. Sure they wouldn't quite have the same selection but still.

Other way....I mean I can see Howie go from 37-50 and then tell us the level of player wasn't that big of a difference only to see good players who could help the team fly off the board.

Ironic that your avatar is a DE of equal or lesser status. I’m not hating on you man I just think if you asked 32 teams if they’d take BGs career in the first round, 32 teams take him.

Yeah, like I said... BG is a really good player. I feel like at the end of the day, he is worth a first round pick (although it depends on where in the 1st round). I just dont see the value in taking a DE in the first this year unless he is elite (better than BG). We have bigger needs right now, and the edge rushers this year are lacking in top end talent.

As for the remark about Trent Cole, I think he and BG are near the same in level of talent. Cole has more sacks, but we all know that BGs value often doesn't show up in the stat sheets. I would gladly take either one, but I will personally always prefer Cole.

One reason is their markedly different value. We had to wait several years for BG to be anything more than mediocre, Cole produced immediately. We used first round draft capital on BG when several other equal or better options were on the board. Cole was a 5th round steal, with round 1 production. Finally, its just my personal taste. Both are family men, they seem approachable, and their humble blue collar personality plays well among the fanbase. But I grew up in the south, I better understand guys like Cole... the small town, outdoor loving, callused hands type of individual really resonates with me. I find BG relatable in other ways, but I will always prefer Trent because he reminds me of where I am from.  At the end of the day, we should all be grateful that two such amazing players/men have suited up in midnight green. 😊

It would seem they are not interested in Pitts or an OT if that is the case although certainly Pitts could fall to 12.

I think Denver and Dallas take Horn and Surtain.  With the Farley surgery and sitting out the season he falls- I don't want him.  Horn has become the #1 CB.  No doubt he is gone before we pick.  Dallas could surprise and take a DE or OL as they need both.  If that happens Surtain could fall to us.  I hope we can pick either of Surtain or Horn.  If Slater is there at 12 he would be tough to pass up.  But our CB group needs so much help.

Denver signed Fuller and Darby.   I don't think they are going to go for CB. I could see them as a trade partner if Mac Jones is still on the board.  I do think Dallas is going to go for CB or OL.  The Giants are likely to go with a WR.

Is Sirianni fired too?

AFAN: "Until GM's have a crystal ball...."

Howie had Chinn on board as best player available for them on their board at a significant position if need and went with a #2 QB in the 2nd to create a "QB Factory" which then alienated the QB they supposedly went all in with making him want the hell out and completely screwing up THE ONE thing Howie is supposed to be good at.....the cap, which he had already screwed up prior.

This is an avalanche of overthinking stupidity that should have easily lead to the canning of Howie.

You can't explain this kind of bull headed stupidity away, no matter how you try.

Unrelated: Those knocking what Miami is doing realize the still have 5 1st RD picks in the next 3 years, right?

It'll be funny if Chase falls to #6 now with this now being the story out there as to why the Eagles traded back and did so this early prior to the draft.

Saints signed Kpassignon.

On this board I'm asking fellow fans.  Howie will do what Howie does.

per Andrew Groover

Unofficial 40 times for UNC’s pro day from our crew there Williams 4.58 Carter 4.55 Surratt 4.6 Brown 4.4

Surratt , I never liked

,Williams didn’t help himself nor did carter slow times for all 3, in a time when everyone is fast

Is Surratt crying again?
