We'll see. That's why they play the games.

Right now, this feels more like 1998 if they fired Rhodes a year early and brought in AR. Except I don't know if Sirianni is as hard nosed, but I think the Eagles will do a better job drafting than 1998-2000, where they nailed the easy picks but whiffed later in the draft. But AR did find lots of hidden gems those early years:

1999:  Weaver TE #208-99, H Thomas DT UDFA, Martin FB #172, C Lewis TE (waived then brought back), Whiting DE #112-98, Moore S #128-99, Harris CB waivers, Miller C UDFA, Reese LB #142-98. (of course he also inherited a solid core of players in Tra, Douglas, Trotter, Taylor, Vincent & Dawkins)

Lewis was pro bowl 2000, Martin started at FB, Miller at C, Thomas at DT, Moore at S, Harris NCB.

So you want the return of Modrak?  Sorry, he passed away.   Howie does seem to trust his scouts more later in the draft and with UDFAs.  But, his gambles on Day 2 have worn thin.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I hope the Eagles have staff at the UNC pro day.  Sam Howell is throwing.  Sneak peak at possible QB in round 1 next year.  I love his game.

Also, finally put it together in my head.   Dyami Brown reminds me a lot of Jeremy Maclin.

Howell IMO will go #1 overall next year.

I can't see this team being as bad as they were last year.  Injury regression to the norm is enough to add a couple wins.

They'll have a solid Oline, a good RB and TE, and most likely add something to the WR corps.  Hurts' optionality and scrambling ability will be a plus.  And the newness of Sirianni's scheme will be a minor benefit.

They had a top-five DL last season and the starters are returning.  The back seven is still an issue, though.

All said, this shouldn't be another dumpster fire.

I really like Ole Miss's Matt Corral too.

So we'll be in position to draft him.

It would seem they are not interested in Pitts or an OT if that is the case although certainly Pitts could fall to 12.

Denver signed Fuller and Darby.   I don't think they are going to go for CB. I could see them as a trade partner if Mac Jones is still on the board.  I do think Dallas is going to go for CB or OL.  The Giants are likely to go with a WR.

Is Sirianni fired too?

Giants just signed Galloway and let Engram walk. They need a TE bad, don't they?

What are the odds Howie trades down from 37?

Depends.  A lot depends on the draft board they are assembly, the value offered, the communication between Weidl’s staff and the new coaches etc.  You know that right now Weidl is preparing film for the coaches based on those discussions.  The scouts are probably discussing prospects with the position scouts.  They are attending pro days, arranging interviews and will be going over medical info as it arrives. Nothing is written in stone.  If the player(s) that have been targeted are picked, they look to acquire draft capital, not just this year but in 2022 and later.    There may be trades up too.  Since Chip, nothing has been so foggy as to what will occur.

Just some trade back math...

Texans gave up #25 and the following years first round to get to #12(deshuan watson. So maybe someone loves Mack Jones)

Saints traded up to #14 to get Marcus Davenport. They gave up #27, #147 and a following years first)

Steelers traded up for Devin Bush(great move btw) gave up #20, #52 a following years first) to get to number 10.

Realistically. If Howie can get a 2022 first rounder + a 3rd this year or next, I think thats the right play.

4 first rounders... (especially when ours will be top 8  is something special .

Eagles give #12 to the Steelers or Bears(they get Mack Jones) we go back to 20/24 ish and grab Rousseau + a 1st next year.

I'd be OK if we traded back again and acquired more draft capital for 2022 and/or (preferably and) another 2nd/3rd rounder this year.  To me that's where the best value is in this draft is the 2nd and 3rd rounds.  Though in this scenario I wouldn't go for Rousseau.  I'd go for Moehrig and then double dip at S later with one of Grant, Cisco, Nasirildeen, Sterns or Ford.

Again, this year's draft has much more uncertainty around it that a normal one.  There is no urgency this season.  Future draft capital is the way to go.

Further, aside from WR, their needs don't require really high picks.  LBs, cover-2 DBs, interior OL, backup RB & TE can all be found on day 2 or 3.

I’d predict the Eagles go 7-10:

— strength of schedule is important.  NFC South and AFC West will be easier than NFC West and AFC North was last season

— Eagles will return to comparative health in 2021 — by that I mean a league-average amount of injuries rather than being ravaged as they were from 2016-2020.  I firmly believe the injuries were resulting from the coaches and offseason program not having these players physically ready to go Week 1

– we will begin to see some drafted players making an impact this season — that might be Reagor, Mailata, Dillard, Wallace, 2021 picks ..... maybe even Hurts will make a leap

— Sirianni will have some growing pains but will be better creating a game plan, and fewer goofy analytics in the in-game decisions.  Can we punt a team deep instead of gambling and giving the ball away at midfield please?

I think most of this is spot-on (especially your 2nd and 3rd points). Player development and injuries under Doug were an absolute joke.

Yes, his scheme left a lot to be desired, but, do you really think another coach is going to make JJAWful more than he is ??

Carson didn't like throwing contested balls to outside WRs, so the Eagles drafted a contested catch WR in the 2nd round. That's a good example of a Howie/Lurie mistake and a truly trash pick. Can JJAW turn into a #3 WR some day? With the right QB/coaching staff fit, maybe.

Not getting a true read on Barnett, Goedert, Reagor, Sanders, or even Dillard? That's on Doug and the coaching staff. All 5 of those players have struggled with injures after previously not having injury problems. Add to the injuries the way most of those guys have been misused, and yeah, that's on Doug and the other coaches.

Engram is entering the last year of his contract. 2021 is his fifth year option they exercised

Haven't heard much noise on the boards about Kwity Paye- Edge from michigan.

Could be there at 12 Howie and the eagles love their edge rushers and with barnett's future uncertain graham Being a year older and sweat in my opinion no more than a rotation guy could a guy like Paye be an eagles target?

Thoughts?

I thought he would be our pick the second we traded down.

tough schedule outside the division, I would say. we lack so much talent i think the same record is a reasonable expectation.

I think I know EXACTLY what we have in Reagor, Sanders and Geodert.

DG - Right System. Hunter Henry. Down field threat. Doug Tried to make DG Brent Celek which I didnt get

Reagor.  Cordalle Patterson. Not AMAZING at Anything. Gotta get specific ways in specific areas to get him in specific scenarios. Translation. FLOP

Sanders - Really good RB that has been under used and then resigned for way too much money when you should never resign an NFL runningback.

That's a tough pill to swallow if Reagor follows a career trajectory similar to Patterson.

Especially as Jefferson goes on to be a perennial All-Pro.

I hope you're wrong lol

If they stay at #12, there should be a top-tenish guy still there.  Whereas Paye is a low teens guys as it is.

Further, the gap between Paye and Barnett/Sweat is much smaller than the one between the CB they draft and the non-existent CB2 on their roster.

would be a bad pick, so potentially, yes.

there are better edge rusher values in the mid rounds. Paye is good, but not what i would call dynamic
