I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I definitely like Rousseau's Length if he can put on some weight to that frame without sacrificing quickness he could be alot to handle for OTs.

I'd be fine with Rousseau at 12, be nice if the eagles had length at DE for once In stead of a bunch of midgets

I'm anxious to see the Miami pro day results today.  He was listed at 6-7 265.  He dominated when he kicked inside playing over guard and center.  I'm not concerned about his weight as much as him learning technique.

I'm sure Lane could outrun all of our WRs in the new jazzy power chair our trainers just outfitted for him.

Daniel Jeremiah also thinks its Mac Jones at #3

.. I know many disagree with me, including scouts and just other fans I speak with.... but I like him as a prospect.  Others will point out he just played on a great team with many amazing players.  So did Joe Burrow.

Prior to the owner/GM issuing the "Hurts starter decree" for this season, I was 100% convinced they would go QB and I thought this guy might have been in play at #6.

He has the poise, decision making and consistent accuracy that you want to see from an NFL QB.  You don't see this with any level of consistency from most prospects.  I don't care that he isn't Lamar Jackson.  The guy looks the part to me.

Reagor is not Patterson, Patterson was dumb, great athlete but you had to put him in situations where he didn't have to think. Reagor is raw, but no one considers him uncoachable.

If Hurts is merely an average QB, QBR > 55, that's a steal at #53. Because half the QBs drafted in the top ten don't meet that standard.

Last 5 years, Eagles only had 4 picks in the top 40, the sweet spot of the draft (talent falls off around #40), Wentz, Barnett, Dillard, Reagor.

7 more players from 41-100, where you find starters but less likely elite players. Seumalo, Jones, Douglas, Goedert , Sanders, JJAW, Hurts, 4 will start this season.

After 100, you have about a 10-15% of landing a starter. 25 picks, Vaitai, Mills, Mailata, (Sweat), (Driscoll, Wallace) - beating the odds

The real problem the last five years was lack of picks in the top 100, that won't be an issue the next couple years.

I'd feel so much better about him if he played on a team where he was under more pressure and his WRs weren't so talented that they were always open.

That kept you from seeing what he could do in a typical NFL situation, with pressure in his face and small windows to throw into.

There is a distinct possibility that the facade of the relationship with Carson was already showing cracks after the 2019 season so not only was Hurts insurance against Carson’s tendency to not finish out the season but also against the relationship souring further.

I thought Driscoll was Brooks/Seumalo/Kelce insurance last year whereas Tega was a hope his knee gets better and he becomes another swing T.  (BTW, I do believe that they will draft a developmental swing T and a C/G this year, if one falls as a BPA, which is likely with 11 picks.) They drafted Dillard the year before to take JP’s spot.

I thought that Taylor was drafted to replace Gerry this season. Not a hard ask but really hoping for an improvement.  Interesting that they went from uber intelligence in answering questions in the QB room to uber athletic ability.  Why can’t we just get a player with Edwards football IQ and Taylor’s athletic ability all rolled into one player.

I thought they skipped Chinn because of the depth of SSs and that Wallace fell to them. Frankly, Wallace looked more polished at that point than Chinn, whose level of competition left some questions.

Sad thing is all of the above sounds like "settle for” players instead of elite.  Not every player needs to be an all pro but Howie does seriously need to find some all pros.

Like it, or not, that has been the draft philosophy for this team.  Draft for the future, fill holes in free agency.  Now, this year Howie says draft picks will need to play right away.  That’s because his settle for and hope Doug’s staff will develop players didn’t work and that’s as much on him as Doug’s staff.   Which brings me to another point.  I have been guilty in thinking Doug’s limited NFL experience limited the coaches he could find.  Wondering if Howie’s apparent tinkering with his staff was blaming Doug for not developing players to deflect blame on his inability to find elite players?

Well, our best players were drafted by Chip, honestly.

And only holdovers from his staff have actually been "developing" players.

So, if you're worse at this than Chip Kelly, how on earth do you keep your job?

The Hurts pick, although it may be because of "cracks", is what turned the cracks into fault lines.  If there were cracks, why resign him to begin with?

Interesting to see mock that were done before the year started...  Some interesting names

Sewell 1
Chase 2
Lawrence 3

Yeah, well that's a minor point, like how would he move if he weighed 30 more lbs?

Guy that tall will struggle with leverage, and adding mass can slow a player down, turning a college pass rusher into a NFL two down guy.

Guys who went after 40 last year that had major impact.  Jonathan Taylor, Antoine Windfield jr, Chase Claypool, Trevon Diggs, Jeremy Chinn

The continued mental gymnastics you go through to defend Howie is hilarious.  You created  a specific window of picks to hide Howie blowing it in the second round multiple drafts in a row.

Howie is just not good, no matter the round.  And if you have to supplement your sub par drafting with 7th rounders and UDFA's making the roster, that is a negative, not a positive.

Players left on the roster from the 2016 - 2019 drafts.  10 of 26.  That is not good.

Doubt Chip had much input into the 2013 draft, given when he was hired, other than PAC-10 players. And they probably didn't need him to tell them Ertz was good. So you can blame Barkley and Kroger on him and credit him with Poyer.

2014:  M Smith #26, Matthews #42, Huff #86, Watkins #101, Hart #141, Reynolds #162, Allen #224 (Huff, Hart, Reynolds PAC-10)

2015:  Agholor #20, Rowe #47, Hicks #84, Shepherd #191, Evans #196, Mihalik #237 (Agholor, Rowe PAC-10)

So did Kelce. So you cherry picked a few names. The data shows a big drop off after 40, and another after 100. Varies draft to draft, but those are the general parameters.

I don't want him to weigh 30 more pounds.  He's going to test like JPP.  Campbell was a lumbering 6-7.  He ran a 5.1 40.  Rousseau is more of a quick twitch guy.

I was just trying to showcase his length.

Here is the JPP chart for comparison sakes.

Measurable Measurement %tile
Height 6' 5" 78
Weight 270 lbs 58
Arm Length 34¾" 87

Anyone who "believes it" should be fired. Not enough data.

A better question is how they felt about the QBS likely to be available at #6 and the cost of a tradeup to #3.

if the remaining QBs are considered high risk, then going with Hurts makes sense while you build up the roster.

Yeah me too.

He's so raw he needs to show he's coachable,

Not sure teams can get  the same sense of that with the truncated year and yeah I'm Interested to see his pro day results as well.

Moral of the story. BUST

Moral of the story, if you went with EMB consensus, you have Kamara, Metcalf and Jefferson.  Instead, you have Sidney Jones ( gone ) JJAWful ( bust ) and Reagor ( not Jefferson )

Need a football guy making football decisions.  Instead you have an accountant.  The list of WRs who were drafted after JJAWful, some in less than ideal conditions, having a major impact is hilarious at best.

Is that hand size with or without a couple fingers😉

Looking at those numbers I'd be worried about his bench and vertical neither of which are good but length and quickness at his size were impressive.

I think the questions people had about him not being strong or explosive enough due to poor testing numbers in that area he disproved.

The numbers can only tell one so much. Some guys play better than they test some play worse.🤷‍♂️

The predraft-industrial complex has wrongly convinced otherwise reasonable people that Greg Rousseau won't be a stud NFL player. If Rousseau checks out in the interview/medical/background check, he's a no brainer anywhere in the teens.
