If "loves ball” actually matters I doubt he’s that high on our board.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Farley/Phillips are no-gos for me in RD1.

Welp, it sounds like Rousseau is bombing the pro day.  Maybe we can get him at 37.

I admire how unflappable Afan is in regards to Howie. He simply cannot be flapped.

Nah he’s not unflappable he just doesn’t let you know he’s been flapped. He just keeps talking in circles until you give up

Are you kidding? It’s the only thing that matters

Anyone else notice how many 4.2 guys there are this draft year? Coincidence?

She needs more soul to be the Janis Joplin she's trying for

I sort of agree. I'd have to listen to more to decide if that's her intention. If that's her style - if she IS just a poor woman's Janis - that's ok. While I wouldn't refer to Janis as a unicorn she is definitely a treasure and anyone trying to "copy" her is on a fool's errand.

The Blog was not in consensus on Metcalf when he was drafted. At all. Nor with Jefferson. There was a few who really wanted Jefferson, but not even close to the majority. Kamara I don't recall, I know there was talk of people liking him. But can we please stop with the revisionist nonsense about Metcalf especially? He had a major injury concern which scared off all other teams, and he had horrible agility scores. He landed in a place that maximizes his skill set perfectly, with a QB who also meshes perfectly with him.

Why not **** about JuJu or Cooper Kupp? Coulda had either instead of Jones.

And tbh I really liked the Jones pick. He looked like the best CB in the draft before injury. I think that really affected him mentally, which is pretty bad because his position requires tons of confidence.

It absolutely matters.

See Smith, Marcus & Watkins, Danny.

Can't they have a "meh" response?  Sounds more like the Dolphins were hell bent on moving back up and he lucked in to that.  Show me what he does with the picks before any faith in Howie is discussed.

This doesn't happen often but I have come to the conclusion that you are useless.

This is feeling a little like 2017 to me.  I was against the Eagles drafting DL at #14 in that draft because I felt like there were a ton of resources already spent on the DL and more obvious holes in the roster and needs.  2017 was a bad Eagles draft, in part because they went DE with Barnett and it forced them to use their 2nd and 3rd round picks to replenish what was a terrible secondary.  I don't think Barnett has been a bad player, but the Eagles certainly could have done better with how the board played out.  Both Jones and Rasul Douglas were weak picks on Day 2, and the Day 3 picks got even worse.

I have much the same outlook towards the 2021 first round pick -- but I'll add there just isn't a DL player at all worth a #12 pick.  Paye and Rousseau wouldn't even be first round picks in most drafts.  Barmore is the only DL player worthy of a first round pick, and he's an "after 20" prospect.

I know you are talking about the feel relative to the draft... but from a season standpoint, this feels like 1997 to me.

How do you figure?  I want to see what he does with the picks before I make any judgement.  Nothing wrong with that at all.

I could not answer that question with the answers given.... what scale is being used?  What is 0 minus some additional value?

Also, it is very misleading to continue to attribute every move to the assistant.  We have learned the GM with final say, involved with every decision including every draft pick, is actually the owner.  The scale should be do you trust the owner and his yes-man lackey more, along with their "collaborative" approach.

Continuing to talk about "Howie" with every decision is like blaming a company spokesperson for decisions being made by the CEO.

May be an image of 1 person, child and text that says 'Jeffery Lurie Howie Roseman DUM: DUMBER A Draft Night Special FP FOREVER PHANS'

You can separate the 2 - This was a good deal - Howie did a good job. It always takes 2 to make a trade, you can't just give all the credit to other team. You're not selling your soul or turning in your "Fire Howie membership card" to give him credit for something. Just type in your next post - "Howie did good" - I promise your fingers won't burn off and you can even hedge with a "but" and then I will restore your status to useful.

In case something is lost in translation - don't take this too serious - I'm being honest but I'm also just having fun.

Neither, deal making has never been an issue with Howie, it's actually his biggest strength. Whether it's 6 or 12, the question mark is still his talent evaluation.

He didn’t luck into it; MIA only made the deal to move from 3 to 12 because they’d already brokered a deal with Howie to trade up to #6.

So, what I have learned from you this week is 6’2” is too short and 6’6” is too tall.  So only DEs that are between 6’3” and 6’5” are acceptable or are 6’3” and 6’5” tweeners too risky?

Only DE's that are the height of whatever DE's the Eagles are about to draft are just right.

I hear you but the question was did it restore your faith in Howie Roseman....not did Howie make a good trade.

We got a 1st round pick and a 4th rounder that we lost due to trading for Avery so yes the trade is good from that standpoint.

Faith will be restored if he makes good draft picks....or he doesn't trade away a 4th for another Genard Avery type of player.

Agree. It's going to be the execution or lack of it.   I don't have a problem with the deal, if he makes a solid pick at 12 and there should be talent there because the QBs will cause some of the other positions to drop a few spots. But, Howie has shown to want to be smarter than the room, so he might reach.  But, they have to start drafting some pro bowl caliber players or franchise cornerstones.

This is stuff is just hilarious. First people want to dump on Howie as the anti christ that has somehow corrupted the owner into allowing him full control of the team and then proceeded to run it into the ground. Then when it comes out that Lurie "may" have been more involved in the actual decisions - we get this. Because you know - we can't cut Howie a break - he's guilty of something.

Tell me - how often do you tell your boss to "F off I'll do things my way and if you don't like it you'll just have to fire me." ?

Or if you are the boss - how long would you tolerate a subordinate telling you the above?

you're useless too

How do we know Avery isn’t going to give some value?
