I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Listening to the ITB podcast and Caplan said he talked to a guy who coached with Gannon who said the defense will be a lot of cover 2 and cover 3 with disguised coverages and blitzes.

That makes a top half of round 1 corner an iffy proposition in my opinion.

Thank you. 🙏

To run a lot of different coverages makes Surtain more attractive than Horn IMO.

The majority of teams are multiple across their D , front and backend

I've had some surprises watching the QB's in this draft class.  I had my pre-conceived notions based on scouting reports, chatter, and the highlights I had seen.

Trevor Lawrence is the clear #1 overall, but I really don't see him as a "generational prospect."  100% of the generational QB's were not even viewed as such when they were prospects.  He could certainly be headed to the HOF, but the gap between him as a prospect and top 5 pick QB's in prior years isn't really in line with what others might lead you to believe.

Really wasn't thrilled with Wilson.  His name jumped into the top QB conversation overnight.  That's a red flag.  His play style is identical to Patrick Mahomes.  Mentioning Wilson and Mahomes in the same sentence is what will get him drafted #2 overall.  Per usual, I don't think this is going to go well for the Jets at all.  The Mahomes blueprint isn't something that is easy to recreate.  It may have worked a bit for Wilson at BYU, but I don't see that continuing in the pros.  There isn't a whole lot of pocket presence, methodical passing, or repeatable precision to his game.

Trey Lance is Carson Wentz 2.0...or Josh Allen, or Jordan Love.  Big arm, can make all the throws, great athlete.  But you've got to teach him everything else and it's anyone's guess how that will go.

I was surprised by Trask.  Every single scouting report basically describes him as a big, lumbering, low talent QB who was just along for the ride.  Everyone seems to question his arm strength.  I really wasn't seeing any functional deficit in arm strength compared to the QB's ranked at the top whose arm-talent has everyone salivating.  If not for his age, still not a deal breaker, I'd be very interested.  The biggest issue I saw with him, which no one really seems to mention, is an intermittent failure to set his feet in clean pockets.  Maybe that creates the impression of a weak arm, but both his flick-ability and overall zip seemed just fine to me...and likely better than fine.  We have his coach...so the Eagles should have a very accurate evaluation of this guy.

Mac Jones...well, he basically just had the best statistical passing season in NCAA history.  He was also potentially surrounded by the best supporting cast in NCAA history.  So what?  I'm more interested in someone who proves he can do everything with more than the guy who admirably does something with less.  He's accurate, has a feel for the game, and has proven that he can channel an otherworldly passing offense on his shoulders through his pocket passing.  What more do you want from a college QB prospect?  He belongs in the top 5 picks.

Davis Mills...sort of a 2012 Nick Foles type pick.  He looks like he has a nice feel for the pocket.  Arm strength looks nice.  Throws some good balls downfield.  Pure stats a bit behind the other guys, but he can command the pocket and make all the throws for sure.  Maybe that turns into something special, maybe he's a backup.  I'm not sure his chances of success are THAT much worse than any of the guys at the tippy top of this draft.

I like Trask a lot. I think he could definitely be the sleeper QB in this draft. I don't see a ton that separates the top guys from him. I'd love to come out of the draft with him. I'm still watching some other guys like Mills, but from what I've seen on him I agree with you. I like the developmental QBs in this draft.

Don't yuck my yum.

Yeah, that’s the impression I get — huge talent but super raw. He’s only 20 years old though, so even if he’s not a starter for his first two years, he’ll still be good to go by 22. At #12 I’d take that chance without hesitation assuming his background, work ethic, interviews, etc are acceptable.

I dont see Lance as raw compared to the other prospects. Played lesser competition than some

i worry about him running to contact instead of avoiding it. kinda like Hurts does

Hurts could be a very good rb i think, but is he wants to be a qb thats up to him. I just dont think he has alot of potential there

Ugh want to part of Trask

Mills has me interested day 3

i am higher on Fields than most, it seems.

The idea that Trey Lance has "no chance" to go top 10 is absurd. Pure fantasy

Even better. Like I said, I haven’t seen him play, but from what I’m reading he’s franchise QB material.

Hurts I just don’t see as a franchise level QB. Seems like a good guy, the kind of player you want to see succeed, but just watching g him play I don’t get the impression that he’s going to be a 10 year starter and win you a ring.

Say he drops to 8 or so... is he worth trading back up to get?

There was an article today that I read suggesting that the Eagles bring back Rasul Douglas based on the system that Gannon will run.  Douglas played well in Carolina's Cover 2 scheme last year and was miscast in Schwartz's scheme.

Here's a list of everyone who has had an official pre-draft visit with the Eagles:

  • Brandon Kennedy, Center, Tennessee
  • Asante Samuel Jr., Cornerback, Florida State
  • Darius Stills, Defensive Tackle, West Virginia
  • Kadarius Toney, Wide Receiver, Florida
  • Trill Williams, Cornerback, Syracuse

Of note here are Assante Samuel Jr. and Kadarius Toney.  Both will probably be picked in rounds 2-4.   The rest of these guys are probably late round picks.

Caplan in his podcast this week said he is hearing that there is no chance that Trey Lance goes in the top 10. DAL and NYG are definitely not drafting him, if he is there at #12, you gotta wonder about Howie pulling the trigger.

I can't see him lasting past Carolina but maybe I'm wrong.

We can agree to disagree. And I vehemently disagree. Minds just don't get changed with this discussion, and it's too repetitive for me to get up for, with all due respect.

If somehow Lance or Fields makes it to 10, the Cowboys will be thanking their lucky stars as teams like the Pats, Skins and Bears will almost certainly be trading up for the last of them.

The truth is that this is all silly season talk. I’m convinced that at least four and probably 5 QBs will go before the Cowboys pick. These are all talented QBs who are deserving of a top 10 spot and there are plenty of teams that need QBs.

By 12, all five QBs will be gone.

Toney in a Welker/Edelman role would be a stats god.

Which is good news for the Eagles if we are targeting non QBs.

Taking a look at 2021 projected win totals, most make sense to me, but am I missing something with the Cowboys at 9.5 and by far and away the division favorite?  I don't see that.  I think the three non-Eagles teams will be competitive for the division with similar records, but I would think the other two had a slightly higher chance to win the division.

Gannon seems to prefer longer CBs, Seattle style. Sherman, who ran a 4.6 but was a multiple All pro in that scheme.

So Douglas isn't a total reach, though not sure he is very good at press coverage, but Schwartz seemed allergic to CBs who pressed, so maybe he was never taught.

There is plenty of mocks that have Toney going late 1st round.

Yeah I was looking at a few and saw McShay has him at 20 to the Bears.  You think Howie is thinking about moving back again and getting Toney?

Yes, you are missing something.

They are getting Dak back.  They have a ton of firepower on offense.  If the Cowboy defense steps up and is just an average defense, they win 10 games easily.

Aren't Cowboys fans pushing the win total line and they're not the smartest group.

Haven't heard to much about Josh Palmer in here.  Thoughts?

No

its not time for that yet

God i hope not

Toney is talented but on my "do not want” list. He is another project. I want an actual WR
