Yes, you are missing something.

They are getting Dak back.  They have a ton of firepower on offense.  If the Cowboy defense steps up and is just an average defense, they win 10 games easily.

Should have been 0-4 before Dak got hurt last season.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I'm leaning to a further trade back for the first pick. If the Eagles came away with Rashod Bateman and Creed Humphrey, then that would be a good start to assembling foundational pieces.

I know we hate them and hate him, but some how Dak is a back end top 10 QB and is most def worth 3.5 wins.

Fair points.  Looked to me like the Cowboys lost a few players, and had several last year including on the vaunted offensive line that seem to be breaking down.  Maybe everybody comes back healthy and they are outscoring teams, but they will have to because the defense isn't very good and to me only looks worse.

Redskins and Giants should have much better defenses and should both be better offensively than last year.  Cowboys have the best QB for sure, but with the other issues and risks they have I don't see how the three teams wouldn't be very close.

Thoughts?

They were 2-3 with him.  They didn't add anything in FA.  They have holes on offense and bigger holes on defense.  I don't think winning more games is a given.

I think you’re waiting too long on WR and leaving Hurts with very few weapons.  Can’t imagine Creed Humphrey would still be on the board at #70 — I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he goes before the Eagles #37 pick.  I also hope the Eagles grab a S much earlier as well.

I wonder what the philosophy will be at WR. Going with a smaller group like Jackson/Maclin 10 years ago? Seeking a traditional, bigger X? Or are they as flexible as Sirianni keeps preaching?

Because there's a heck of a difference between having your big WR be Kadarius Toney vs. Terrace Marshall.

I read a lot about how he made a lot of big plays but gave up a ton too.

That's what I read about him as well.  He's a gambler and tries to make the big play on the ball, but gets caught out of position at times.  Maybe with the right DB and DC he can be taught to pick his chances better?

I'd be surprised if he goes before Round 3.

Yeah, I like the first two picks, I would love it more if you went for a skill position with the third pick.

Thoughts on the possibility that Howie and Co are looking at the four WRs brought in last year (Reagor, Fulgham, Watkins, and Hightower) and deciding to let them be evaluated by the new coaches in the new scheme and defer on making a significant investment at the position until next year.

Here's a list of everyone who has had an official pre-draft visit with the Eagles:

  • Brandon Kennedy, Center, Tennessee
  • Asante Samuel Jr., Cornerback, Florida State
  • Darius Stills, Defensive Tackle, West Virginia
  • Kadarius Toney, Wide Receiver, Florida
  • Trill Williams, Cornerback, Syracuse

Of note here are Assante Samuel Jr. and Kadarius Toney.  Both will probably be picked in rounds 2-4.   The rest of these guys are probably late round picks.

Don't sleep on Trill Williams. He's also in the late day 2/early Day 3 range.

For me, he is the Syracuse DB you'd want, not Andre Cisco.

Williams played both CB and Safety, and he's a violent playmaker. And only 21 years old.

I'd like the Eagles to draft him to replace/upgrade Jalen Mills

Another reason to ignore mock drafts from the national press.

Rashawn Slater OL

DeVonta Smith makes sense here, but with the WR class being deeper than the O-line group, the Eagles go with Slater, who can step into a starting role -- either at tackle or inside -- on Day 1.

That would be... disappointing. Mailata looks to have a future thus far, we still have Lane at RT and then guys like Dillard and Driscoll on the roster as well. Unless the plan is to have him play inside at guard over Seumalo, but that would be high for 12.

I'm still trying to figure out this whole CB situation.  We are going to be zone heavy no?  Should we then be looking at Farley and Newsome over Surtain and Horn then?

Yep, there's more than enough to work with at OT to draft another one who will just sit on the bench.  I would hate an OT in rd1.

The only one I'm okay with is Sewell if he were to fall. By all accounts that kid is going to be a stud and he's still very young. Wouldn't be my first choice, but I'd be fine with it.

Love Slater as a player. If we traded down and he somehow slid to late first, sure. Otherwise, not at 12.

I think it'll be driven by BPA. But WR won't be a priority like CB.

I think Sirianni will want another big WR or two, but he probably knows our WRs from draft preparation last year.

Indy had 1 st and 9 2nd rd picks the three years Sirianni was there:  Nelson G #8, Smith G #37, Pittman WR #34, Campbell #59, Taylor RB #41, on defense 3 LBs and a CB, and traded a 1st for Buckner DT.

Given the Eagles have far more talent on the OL than when Reich arrived in Indy, doubt it'll be seen as an urgent need.

RB and WR are the obvious targets on offense, with Goedert Sirianni might go with late rd picks and UDFAs and the H-back candidates on the roster.

Of course you're rebuilding, how much longer will Kelce play?

So Mialata - Slater - Semualo - Brooks  - Lane could be your 2022 line.

Eagles aren't drafting for this season, so they can take a longer view.

Love that answer.

Another late round sleeper. RB Jaret Patterson. 5’8 200lbs.

Kinda reminds me of Darren Sproles with his speed power balance and just the way he looks while running lol. Wish he caught more out of the backfield but can do it. He’s explosive patient and despite being a small guy he powers though contact.

Issue is obviously his size and more of a change of pace guy (like Sproles) not a everydown back. He played in the MAC and dominated but can he translate to the NFL?

He’s a day 3 guy who might surprise.

My friends that hunt ferals in Texas use 30.06.  My father in law’s best friend traps them. Smokes the hams and barbecues them. The hogs taste like crap because of the hormone release when you shoot them but the sows are good.  Like the smaller (sucklings) for a whole pig BBQ.  He crisps up the skin with a great rub. Yum.  Feral doesn’t taste like store bought pork. But the only good feral is a dead feral. They are so destructive to crops and natives.

I understand that point of view, but I don't want them to go in that direction. What I mean is, I would rather draft a center to be the successor of Kelce and leave Seumalo where he is. It's not so much that I think he can't do it, but he's been at guard for a while now and does okay there. I don't want to assume he can play center well and then draft a tackle at 12 and force him inside to guard.

If Seumalo blows at center we have a huge hole and are either stuck with him there or have to sit one of he or Slater to plug someone else in.

We need some extra beef on the line, I'm not disputing that. I'd just rather not do it at 12.
