I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

I’m not so sure Doug doesn’t wanna leave anyways with the changes they likely are asking of him. I tend to believe if they take away playcalling from him and force a staff on him, he might rather go somewhere else.

The Eagles erected a statue of 2 guys and got rid of them both in less than 3 years

Howie will just undermine him and get him fired.

So it’s what I’ve been saying. That doug didn’t exactly want to be here anymore as he wanted to do what he wanted, hire his own staff and be a play caller. That’s why i said i don’t think it’s out of the question doug told the eagles he wanted to go elsewhere and felt he could get a HC job elsewhere where he’d have that power.

I think it verifies that Doug just wanted to recycle last year's coaching staff yet again and bring Undlin back.  That wasn't going to fly. But, also it could mean that Doug didn't like Howie's drafts. I just don't believe Pederson wanted Hurts and I think Doug never wanted to bench Wentz even near the end of the season.  The only question I have was it Howie ordering Doug to play Jeffery and Peters or was that Doug's call to play those aging players at the end of the year.

Bieniemy ticks a lot of boxes.  He's the OC for the best, most cutting edge offense in the NFL.  Hiring an African American coach in these times figures to be a priority for a very socially progressive owner like Lurie.  And he loves that AR tree.

Against it...Doug and AR are buddies.  Firing Doug unceremoniously as the loser to Howie...the same guy that got AR fired in a power struggle...do you really think AR is going to encourage Bieniemy, who will have a lot of options, to insert himself into this situation?

McLane said keep an eye on Kafka too.

That’s my odds on betting favorite tbh. Former QB. The eagles wanted to bring him in last offseason and the chiefs blocked him. He’s young and supposed well respected around the league. If i were a betting man I’d say Kafka or daboll.

Idk he coached with the panthers last year as their OC. It’s not a chip or Lincoln Riley situation

Yea but a former college coach hired him in the NFL. I’m cool with interviewing him but Brady is fairly green in the NFL. He seems sharp

NFLN just said (Andrew Siciliano) that a source close to Pederson said that Doug said "he was tired of people telling him what to do".

Ok.  Go get 'em, Doug.

Can we get rid of Howie now?  I'm sick of him pulling strings then acting like he had nothing to do with it.   (Sorry afan, your boy's head should be next on the chopping block.)

Maybe they need to put a new statue with Lurie and Howie right next to it with "You want Howie, Howie?" and "Yeah, let's do it".

He probably let Doug defend himself and propose his vision of the eagles rebuild. That's all it took

Eh. Lurie is a billionaire. He knew he was going to fire Doug for at least a few days

Shocker needs to be allowed back if we hire his boy Bienemy

IMO, this is when DP knew it was Howie's show and Howie's show only.  One of the best videos ever.  Going back and watching it again just to hear Howie go on and on about their FO is painful though.  DP needed to leave but that's only half the problem with Howie being a big part still.

Now we are hiring front office consultants with no power?  Of course. what a surprise.

If Howie was telling him not to promote Press Taylor, then good job Howie.

Count me as insane then.   Bringing back a 39 year old oft-injured LT to play RG wasn't a great idea.  I'd have pursued Kyle Long very hard, and said so at the time.   Giving in to Peters' extortion when Dillard got hurt was even dumber.

And please tell me more about the PFF rankings... I never get enough of that.

Mailata was an unknown and the team seemed unsure what he was going to do... at the start of training camp.  So, they decided to go a different direction.  Can't exactly fault them on that.  However, turning back to Peters was a HUGE mistake.  Even riding Pryor would have been a better move, imo.   Not because he was better, but because he was likely to be healthy and give you a shot at cohesion.  Peters being in the lineup was like using gum to plug up the hole in a dam.   Its not a solution... and its not even going to last very long as a temporary solution.

Peters wore down (shock of all shocks!). And he wore down in only about 2 or maybe at most 3 games.   Once he got hurt and Mailata proved he wasn't a complete embarrassment out there, Peters should have never been put back at LT.  Mailata showed enough to warrant riding him and letting him work through his struggles.  But, the MONEY (and reputation) dictated that Peters get whatever Peters wanted.   The inmates running the asylum.

Peters couldn't finish games in 2018 or 2019 and pulled himself out whenever he felt like it.  He struggled in 2016 to finish games, and even missed some then.  The idea that 'Peters was good when he was healthy' is all I need to hear to know that there's no answer.   Peters' health was in decline and players get LESS reliable as they age, not more reliable, due to injury.  They needed to work on a succession plan at LT far sooner than they did because while he was still serviceable when he was available... his availability started to wane and his 'dominance' was gone.  He was just an average LT starting around 2018.  He had moments where he'd look like the guy from years before... and then moments he'd look like an old man.  There's a reason he was sneaking out of his stance as quick as he possibly could... he wasn't fast enough out of his stance anymore to hold the edge reliably so he'd cheat to help himself.

Just stop.  The only reason Peters was brought back and on a very cheap deal is because 2 of our starting linemen were done for the season before the season even began.  And Mailata WAS STILL AN UNKOWN AT THAT POINT.  PERIOD.

This entire "they should have started Mailata" all year instead of bringing Peters back is nonsensical.

I cant help but feel sad

It was time for Doug, he can be a HC in the NFL if he wants to be.  He just needs more time and experience.

Hearing a lot of Kafka rumblings.  That would be horrible.

I am interested to get a much better idea of the actual talent we have on the roster. Hopefully the new coach won't just randomly take out productive players, and we get to see plays designed to maximize the strengths of the guys we have. How refreshing that will be!

Also, a new coach should mean there's no ties to the guys who won the Super Bowl. We can't keep living off 2017 accolades and accomplishments.

As happy as I am, I will say, bless you Doug. You won that Super Bowl, and you have that statue with Nick, and you'll forever be a Philly hero. I was in your corner until this season, when it seemed like you just checked out. I wish you great health and happiness in life, and in 10 years time you'll be fondly remembered I imagine. But not on this day. Today, we celebrate new beginnings!

Now get rid of Howie!

As time moves on, and some distance is put between this disaster and us... Doug will become a beloved figure in this town.  It's too soon right now.  But, he'll get huge ovations for the 2027 10 year reunion halftime celebration.   They'll bring him back, Nick Foles, Brandon Graham, and Fletcher Cox... and you know, I'm not sure which ovation would be the biggest.

I'm just glad that there is at least something to look forward to and be interested for next season. Had they have stuck with Pederson, we would have been getting the same, plodding, inefficient offense we've seen for the past three seasons and it would have been a disaster. If they end up getting a progressive thinking offensive coach like Daboll or Brady, that's an exciting move. The same way it was exciting for the Rams with McVay and the Packers with LaFleur.

100%

This.  Exactly like when he surprised the world by hiring an unheralded QB coach instead of the OC back in 1999.

I guess we've now entered the phase where we have hot takes about coaching candidates like any of us have a clue
