So in their worst case scenario draft, The Athletic panned the idea of drafting a punter in the seventh round on value.  I disagree.  A consistent great punter can change field position and is like a member of the defense.  Now, they picked Duffy.  My choice would be James Smith. His consistency on punts downed inside the twenty is phenomenal.

Given the quality of the third day this year, a top punter is certainly worth a 6th rd pick, now an average punter can be picked up off the street, so don't waste a pick.

If one feels strongly about a P or K, I'd say the 6th round of any draft is reasonable territory.

The key is not to get an average one; then it's a wasted pick.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Now, our Eagles somehow thought it was a good idea to draft a kicker with a weak leg round 4 in 2011.  Same year they drafted a 56 year old fireman OG in round 1.  Same year they drafted a small school safety who ran a 4.62 in round 2.  Same year we thought Casey Matthews was to Clay Matthews what TJ Watt is to JJ Watt.

Of course, that was also the Kelce year.

I agree, I don't want Etienne at 37 but wouldn't be shocked because RB2 is a huge need.  There are good backs throughout the draft.

Rhamondre Stevenson, Trey Sermon and Michael Carter are all guys I would also keep my eyes on.  They all played at the Senior Bowl and the Eagles always seem to put a lot of value in that game.  Probably more this year than in years past with no combine.

I’m curious to see where RB and LB fit into the Eagles plans in the draft; I’d be quite happy if we somehow landed either Stevenson or Sermon.  Not as big on Michael Carter, which likely means the Eagles will grab him.

Also curious on the physical profile of the DB prospects the Eagles will go after.  Weidl alluded briefly to the idea of selecting two DBs in this draft.  I’d like to see a CB and S with wingspan — I’m still liking Hamsah Nasirildeen, even though he projects as a chess piece for a defense more than an elite SS or FS.

Look out for Donald De La Haye.  He's the former UCF kicker turned YouTube star who either had to quit playing football or cancel his YouTube channel.  He was at the pro day event that Brandon Marshall put together.  He's a ridiculous athlete who also happens to be a darn good kicker.  He can kick and punt.  Imagine being able to save a roster spot by having 1 kicking specialist instead of 2.

There are certain positions that can be filled rapidly, and inexpensively, once the team is ready to contend.

It takes years upon years to cultivate a high end pass attack.

It generally takes an OT at least 1 year in the league to be truly reliable.  This OL has question marks at 4 of the 5 positions moving forward.  It takes time and investment to sort that out.

CBs also take a bit of time to learn how to cover in the NFL...no CB is locking starting WRs down as a rookie.

WRs can have instant impact when you drop them into the right offense with the right QB, but we have neither.  So they are a longer term investment too.

RB2?  4-3 LB?  If you sneeze hard enough, a serviceable vet at those positions will come out of your nose.  Or you can find one in the mid rounds of the draft 3 years from now to step in when the team is ready to compete.

There's just no point in calling those positions a need right now.  Those positions are wallpaper.  Build the foundation first.

We usually burn a roster spot on >2 players who start the season off unhealthy with no chances of returning for 6-8 weeks and could have been placed on PUP anyway.  So if we need to create more roster room, we can start there first.  😅

Ugh, I HOPE that changes with a new staff.  It's one of the most frustrating things over the past few years.  Heck, we've played games with 52 on the roster, not feeling the need to fill a spot.  I don't understand how they look at a roster and think using up spots on injured guys or not filling a hole due to injury is a great use of resources and putting the best team on the field.

I missed the memo.  Do roster sizes change this year with the 17 game schedule?

that seems like nonsense given how him teammates fell about him

I put it in quotation marks for a reason.  Not going down that path but everything now is.  Apparently that's him in the costume some 10 years ago?

makes so little sense to take an RB before day 3.

too many other priority positions to fill. have Sanders under contract for two more years

I think you could justify RB with our 2nd 3rd round pick, but he'd have to be such an obvious BPA for it to make sense (Gainwell).

I'm not sure why this is a thing. I want to know who we get as soon as possible.

You can p.m. me if you want. I want to know.

If I see it early I might say I like it,  or something like that.

I have no idea how anyone would know who exactly we are picking.

There are others who do the same thing.

I would say I don't tip any picks. There are people who actuality post the pick early.  But I don't recall that happening for probably about 2 years in this thread.

They’ve had a ton of cap space and draft picks and really haven’t shown much for it at this point. Flores is a really good coach though.

I wonder if the Dolphins sense Pitts at 4 and Chase at 5, leaving them without their two targeted playmakers.

If Mac Jones actually goes at 3, I think Atlanta already has a trade in place.

It's a thing because a lot of people don't want to know ahead of time.  It's totally fine if you do.  The problem is when people make that decision for others by posting it ahead of time.  If people want to know ahead of time, that's great, go for it.  Just keep it to yourself.
