If Howie isn’t canned, I doubt Andy Reid will encourage Bienemy or Kafka to take the HC position.  And I doubt Opey Taylor there in Buffalo would advise Danilo to steer clear.

Full disclosure, I didn't think Doug would get canned today.  At least I didn't think that is what he was called down to Florida for.  

It’s ok i said i thought one of doug, howie or Carson wouldn’t be back at the end of 2021. I thought it would be doug and there was a chance that doug would just walk away cause of being told what to do with his staff and didn’t want to give up play calling. Sounds like that’s what happened. I also didn’t think he’d get canned a week after that presser especially since he was there with howie. However i don’t think he got fired. I think he told them he wants to seek other opportunities and can get another job where he has more power and say. And the eagles were ok with moving on as well. 

I'm hyped. We can probably evaluate our players now. There are some exciting names out there.

If they quickly and decisively hire someone who was not on the radar or on the interview circuit, then you know it's Howie looking for someone he can control.

 

For what it's worth, now that Pederson is gone, I'm on board with the "reset option".

Cut and/or trade everyone over the age of 30 and go from there...as a start.  (And Wentz can go too)  Let's see if "The process" can work for the Eagles.

I think that might have been his hill to die on, because last year he wanted to retain his coaches and they forced them to be fired.   That likely pissed him off.  So, this year, he was going to go down with the ship.   Their moves were no better, and likely worse because they had too many cooks in the kitchen.  While not a great plan, it would have been a simpler one... and sometimes simpler is better.

 

That said, I am glad he's gone, but wouldn't be shocked if he had some success elsewhere.  I don't think he's Rich Kotite.

I am disappointed it has come to this and that Howie was not held accountable first.  In my opinion, Doug shares a lot of blame for this season but the roster has lacked talent 4 out of the 5 years Doug has been coaching.  Doug is only partly responsible for the team's problems this season.  The teams problems going into next season fall solely on Howie's shoulder.  They should not be ignored.

Lol...the Blog is usually not a unified voice on many things.....but when Peters was re-signed, it was pretty widely panned as a terrible move. Turns out the Blog was right.

Honestly it makes sense from a lot of standpoints

1. they wanted Kafka last year to come in and the chiefs blocked him. So they clearly like him a lot  

2. former eagles QB should help with the QBs we have in their development. Add on he was a backup here for years similar to doug in that respect

3. based on everything I’ve read and heard a lot of people around the league think he’s going to be a really good head coach in the league one day. He’s young

4. i am guessing they like him more than beinemy only cause he has helped work and groom mahomes as the QB coach (since 2018 before he became the MVP he is) and is a former QB

No, we've been put in to purgatory.  The Eagles are NEVER going to get the best head coach for the job with Howie here.  They are going to find a coach who is OK with Howie constantly looking over his shoulder making sure the guys Howie wants to play are playing and so on.

This move is only good if it's move 1 of 2 but sadly it isn't.

Welcome to more 8-8 and 9-7 teams consistently picking around 20.

I'm sick of trying to chase Andy's shadow. The Eagles need to find their own direction. Bring in Daboll or someone with a different system.  Andy has Tyreek Hill and Mahomes, we have neither.

To me it is both. I think doug also doesn’t play to the strengths of his players and doesn’t adjust very well. I think howie has made bad move after bad move since the SB and poor player evaluations. 

Daboll, Brady, or Smith...but we will go with Kafka.  Has Kafka interviewed for any coaching jobs this offseason with 7 openings?

Guess who was the QB coach when mahomes was finally became the starter? Kafka. So he’s been working with mahomes before mahomes became mahomes. How much of that is Kafka i don’t know. But it’s a nice feather in his cap that he’s been that guy

I don't think anyone really panned bringing Peters back to play LG when Brooks was injured.  After Mailata's reportedly very poor training camp, I don't think people thought it was wrong to move Peters to LT.
