I agree with that, but I think we are about to see a Kliff Kingsbury type get some interviews. What about Graham Harrell? They seemed to like him for OC last year. I don't like the no HC experience thing, but he's a name that we will hear.

If we get Daboll, Smith or Brady, I’m happy. Anyone else and I’m probably not. And whoever the next hire is, please keep Stout. Putting two and two together, with how hard Doug goes to bat for his coaches, this move likely pisses some of them off. It will be interesting to see who will be willing to remain after giving Doug the boot. I know Stoutland isn't a "Doug guy" but I wouldn't be surprised if he has some loyalty to him after the last 5 years. I hope he stays.
January 11, 20214 yr I thank Doug for bringing us a SB win. Howie did not help Doug keep his job. His draft failures and Free agency failures are evidence to that. Doug also did not help himself. His game plans, play calling, loyalties and reluctance to play younger players to help them develop, were part of the issue. How do you have a Oline which is a turnstile of backups, a WR corps made up of Ward, Fulgham and Hightower, and a struggling QB and you call 55 passes to 9 runs? That inability to do whats right for all involved is ultimately why I believe he needed to go. If you remember in 2017 after the loss to the Cheifs, the Eagles players had to force a meeting with Doug to remind him to RUN THE BALL, it was from that point on, when he did the right thing, listened to the players that they went on a winning streak. Winning the SB with a backup, was fantastic, and Doug did help with his aggressiveness. But one of the most overlooked aspects, was that going into the Championship game, they changed the Offense completely, and caught the Vikings flatfooted. The next game, they added enough new wrinkles off what they had done in the Champ game to again catch the Pats off guard. God knows it was not our defense that won that game. It was Doug being aggressive, listening to his players, A Nick Foles playing well above his avg, and most likely Frank Reich and Defilippo keeping the offensive game plan changing. You give Doug the credit where he deserves it for all that. But circumstances def helped us. So again- Thank you Doug for what you helped accomplish here. Now what in gods name is Howie still doing here? He was just as involved as Doug in building the SB winning team as he is in the demise and current status of the team,
January 11, 20214 yr This organization has been dysfunctional for a decade. The 2017 season was a miracle outlier where everything went right. But since Howie was GM they've had 2 seasons where they won playoff games. 2. Their last 2 coaching searches were incompetent as hell. Went all in on Chip, didn't get him, were prepared to offer the job to Bradley, backed out at the last second because Chip called them back. Both ended up sucking anyway. Looked aimless with their 2016 search. Wanted Gase and McAdoo, then stumbled into Doug. This organization hasn't done much right at all outside 2017. We are not a good organization right now. The common denominator? Howie.

I don't know, but there are only so many elite level positions available, so I am sure someone will. We also need to see how Howie slides through this. I find it hard to believe that he will come through unscathed.

And he was dangerously close to hiring mcadoo if the giants didn’t last minute pull the rug out from under us. Wound up working in our favor Didn't he also almost hire Adam Gase? Pederson was like 5th in line but everyone higher on their list turned them down.

Stoutland is about the only guy I feel is a 100% blue chip must keep guy we have. There are probably more, but he is the hands down must keep #1 guy. What he did with duct tape and bailing twine this year was just astounding.

I'm just not sure that it translates to beating an NFL defense. That team looks great beating up on much less talented defenses (or no defense based on how you look at Big12 football).

They brought him back at RG. That was a mistake. They compounded the mistake by paying more money (for an old and busted player, shocking!) to move to LT. Clearly, you understood that but couldn't read it... because Brooks = 1. Brooks plus Dillard = 2. Peters was signed before Dillard got hurt. So, Peters was brought back before they lost 2 starting OL - as at the time he came back they'd only lost 1. Dillard was not yet hurt. 10 minutes ago, Ace Nova said: Wrong. Peters was brought back AFTER Brandon Brooks was injured to play guard and he wasn't asked to play tackle until AFTER Dillard was out for the season. Here's the interesting thing... you just refuted your OWN incorrect statement, but attributed the error to me, while I was correcting your timeline. Here, you confirm, that Peters was brought in AFTER Brooks was hurt, but BEFORE Dillard... so, you agree with me while saying you disagree... 😕 34 minutes ago, Ace Nova said: Just stop. And Mailata WAS STILL AN UNKOWN AT THAT POINT. PERIOD. This entire "they should have started Mailata" all year instead of bringing Peters back is nonsensical. And cycling back to the bolded... I never asserted that Mailata should have started the whole year, merely that once he played and showed what he could do, even while having a few struggles, he should have never been benched again, and been allowed to gain more experience, let the OL as a whole gel more. But, they yo-yo'd Peters, which was why I was against him being brought back in the first place. Everyone knew he wasn't going to be able to handle the load on his body, so he wasn't a 'solution', he was a band-aid.. a tiny little one.
