After Hue was fired he said Wentz memorized the whole playbook instantly and wanted to draft him at 2. He could be blowing smoke but who knows. The guy has gotten a lot out of average QBs

I’d have loved to get him to replace doug sadly he left for Carolina last year. i think in the league right now it’s likely just Pete Carroll. Who didn’t have the success til his third tenure as a HC in the nfl (Jets and Patriots) That success, ironically, only came after a long stint at college though.

Yup the same guy who questioned people being wentz fans over eagles fans. Now the same could be said of him being a doug fan over a eagles fan. Not shocking.

There a better chance we get a Better HC candidate now, then we would have gotten a OC or DC with Doug being a lame duck coach.

Pure speculation on my part, i think things took a turn with doug when he told them the staff he wanted and it was a power move by him to either mutually part ways or get that power but also i think lurie had an inkling of knowing he could get the guy he wants to come here so he was willing to just let Doug go. Might not be who we all want though. If its Daboll, Howie and Daboll sharing an agent would connect dots behind the scenes.

He’s another early-thirties coach with minimal credentials outside of KC, and only three years as a QB coach — no experience at all as a coordinator Eagles fans would and should be livid if he were chosen as head coach

Yeah i think he learned from his experience from the Patriots and one season with the Jets in 1994. But he really learned a lot from his USC experience as a HC. Frankly the Seahawks have had success recently cause Of Wilson more than Pete Carroll’s coaching. I felt like the second half of the season Carroll reverted his offense back to ground and pound to try to help his crap defense and they got the defense to be average but the offense lost its mojo and Wilson never looked the same.

I said prior he's the only one really that at least was in college for an extended time and then came back to have success in the NFL. Coughlin learned in the NFL as an assistant under Parcells. Jimmy Johnson was an outlier, and didn't last long. Harbaugh is a joke. Vermeil wasn't that great of a coach. He was the right guy to turn around Philly in the 70s, and a great spot for the Rams in late 90s. But he's a .500 career coach. Bill Walsh learned his craft in the NFL, as an assistant coach with the Bengals for almost a decade. He was a college coach for 1 year. There aren't many coaches who can take 2 loser legacy franchises to the Super Bowl and win one. There aren't very many coaches that have ever taken two completely different franchises to a Super Bowl, so if Vermeil isn't high on your list, then your list is very exclusive.
January 11, 20214 yr 4 minutes ago, Iggles_Phan said: While I agree, its a dangerous move... Dick Vermeil, Jimmy Johnson. Depends how you define 'sustained' success, I suppose. There's a few outliers. Jimmy Johnson really had that ridiculous draft haul and absolutely made the most of it. He was really bad the first two years there (though those Dallas teams had no talent). He did OK in Miami with the Dolphins. It's just a different world, college to the pros. College is about recruiting mainly, and then scheme. You're dealing with young adults and teenagers. The pro's have you dealing with grown ass men, and it's just a different way. I relent on Carroll, the jury is certainly out on Rhule. Lincoln Riley is a life long college coach. The track record of those types of coaches is not very good in the NFL. The very fact that people are bringing up Vermeil/Walsh/Johnson, who were good almost 30 years ago is telling.

January 11, 20214 yr Rarely post in here but need to get this off my chest. This is yet another bad move by this organization. $34 million is a lot to eat, but the deal was a bad one to begin with. You’ve chosen Wentz and Roseman over Pederson, and while Pederson was part of the problem IMO he has the most salvage value. I hope I’m wrong but I think this signals at least another 3-4 years of mediocrity before Lurie figures out it’s Roseman who is the problem at which point we dedicate to a real build. It’s a shame because I think Hurts has some upside but by the time they commit to him, he’ll likely be nearing the end of his rookie deal and eyeing more favorable situations. Lurie is such a schmuck

Could be someone else but I’d bet my money on one of those two guys.

Push him upstairs... demotion by promotion. Just get him away from contracts and draft picks. He can be in charge of in-game entertainment at the stadium... maybe in negotiating better deals with concessions...
January 11, 20214 yr It's our time to suck for the next 5-6 years, it is what it is. At least we now have a Lombardi to fall back on.
