Kafka cause they wanted him last year and i think they likely have been in contact with his agent. Could be someone else but I’d bet my money on one of those two guys. Jim Schwartz and Kafka will be his OC.
January 11, 20214 yr Don’t be surprised at all if this move today was a result of Lurie putting out some feelers to gauge interest in certain candidates open to coming to Philly

There aren't very many coaches that have ever taken two completely different franchises to a Super Bowl, so if Vermeil isn't high on your list, then your list is very exclusive. I figured there'd be flack on my Vermeil take, and that's a fair counter argument. I wasn't alive in the 70's, but from the history I've read what he did with the Eagles was absolutely remarkable. No argument there. The Rams thing....ehhhh...that offense would likely still be the best offense in the league in today's game, and I'm not sure how much credit should go to Vermeil. That offense was completely stacked (and damn did we almost topple them). But OK, I'll give you Vermeil as a guy who made the jump.
January 11, 20214 yr I wouldn't at some later point be surprised if Lurie reached out to Andy Reid this week to get a feeling of what is going on...Reid knows a lot of people...

Anyone can come along for the ride when things are good. 40 years of pain and disappointment made that Feb night so much more amazing. (it was longer than 40 years for others) A great friend of mine, that used to walk around the neighborhood with his dog was able to see that game... he passed not long after. I talked to his widow at the funeral about our conversations about the Birds, and all things sports. She told me that right after that game, he turned to her and said, "I'm ready for the 'big one' now. I can go in peace." (He had heart problems and died of heart failure about 6 months later.)

January 11, 20214 yr Lurie is going to be asked about Howie in his press conference and I guarantee you right now he will respond with utter shock and defiance with a "Fire Howie??? You must be joking, right? What are you crazy?” Its coming, brace yourselves

There’s been a lot of reports the eagles would be interested in him. I just remember listening to podcasts and reading last year he was a hot candidate in the next couple years to be a HC. I look at it this way. I think the eagles are likely not very good next year anyway. So you have time for him to grow into the job. I think the no. 1 thing he ha to do is salvage wentz or get Hurts playing like a bonafide starter next year. I don’t think the eagles will be good next year but if you could do either one of those things then I’d consider that a step in the right direction. i think it’s daboll cause of his work with Allen. I think Kafka cause of his work with mahomes. To me that speaks of a lurie type of move with hurts and wentz as the QBs or if we divert and draft someone at 6 (unlikely)

January 11, 20214 yr Caplan doubts it will be Kafka. It's only his 5th year coaching. Mosher also said after asking around that one of his negatives is his presence. Quiet and introverted, and might struggle handling a locker room of men. Oh F, it's really going to be Kafka.

That would be a D move while the guy has a game to prepare for. Lurie leaned on big red after the chip Kelly drama crap, we can’t run to Andy Reid everytime we get ourselves in a pickle. We will look even more stupid then we look now

January 11, 20214 yr We're going to get a better candidate than people think this time around. There are 7 openings and more than 7 good candidates.

He was really bad the first two years there (though those Dallas teams had no talent). He did OK in Miami with the Dolphins. It's just a different world, college to the pros. College is about recruiting mainly, and then scheme. You're dealing with young adults and teenagers. The pro's have you dealing with grown ass men, and it's just a different way. I relent on Carroll, the jury is certainly out on Rhule. Lincoln Riley is a life long college coach. The track record of those types of coaches is not very good in the NFL. The very fact that people are bringing up Vermeil/Walsh/Johnson, who were good almost 30 years ago is telling. No doubt that its a very different game, and very different method of roster building. But, good coaches can just flat out coach, which is why I am always interested in POSITION coaches from the college ranks.

You don't let Lurie come out of this without him knowing how bad Howie is.
January 11, 20214 yr I don’t think you’re going to see Eric Bienemy hired by the Eagles; Lurie wants a passing-oriented coaching candidate. He will likely get an interview, though. My choices: Brian Daboll, Arthur Smith, Pete Carmichael Jr., Joe Brady Also possibly a defensive coach with a young passing-oriented OC, such as Robert Saleh, Lovie Smith, Marvin Lewis, Darkhorses — Lincoln Riley, Ryan Day
