This is unfortunately true I think

Aside from the Howie thing is just the fact that the new coach walks into a QB controversy, and oh yeah, even if you win a SB here it doesnt get you much authority or even jib security

I think unless Howies role changes significantly and they bestow a lot more power on the new HC, we can prepare for a Kafka-like hire--a new HC getting his first gig or trying to break into the profession

Doesnt mean it wont work, just that we probably wont walk away with a flashy name

After Chip, I can live without flashy names.

AR wasn't very flashy when we hired him.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Lurie feels Howie can get out of the cap mess that Howie put us in

Lurie blatantly said they deliberately made those short term decisions in an attempt to win another title. They knew the implications. And it was not so subtlety hinted that this was DP’s wish.

I'm not a Duce fan, at all. But he should leave if he doesn't get the job here. How many times can you be passed over and keep coming back for more?

Thing is, if you had asked him this question last year, he would have empathically said that Wentz is their franchise QB and that's that. He did not do that here, he very much left the door open for trading Wentz.

Maybe he did. Maybe he didn't. I think this Doug firing is so they can keep Carson. Pandering to him again.

Well Wentz might be moved. He said whether we chose to move on with one or the other. I hope they just blow it all up.

Yeah, you don't talk about a guy you think of as a franchise QB with a response like that. Imagine the Cards saying that about Kyler, or the Bills about Allen.

Couple of years of Top 10 picks will right the ship.......

Unless the Captain is Howie.

It's still Howie's mess

They can all go except Stout.

Then why not say Wentz is our guy, what's to gain from letting the speculation continue if they are so adamant about moving forward with Wentz?

It's everybody's fault but Howie!

Never heard that one before

Everyone in the blog wants us to rebuild in 2021.

Lurie is saying we need to rebuild.

Howie aside, we should be happy about this.

Aside from the iceberg, the Titanic had a happy maiden voyage.

I thought the funniest part of the PC was him throwing Alshon under the bus in the Saints playoff game saying they were a catch away from getting to the NFCCG.

If this is truly the way it's going to be, I'm not watching a single game next year. F this.

And he missed on those short term evals. Somehow he gets a pass?

TL/DR Luries PC

Good God. The more I think about what I just watched, the more frustrated I get.

Seriously, F this team

So he leaves the Eagles on his own.  What has he done to be a free agent assistant coach that any team would be looking to hire?

He also said we need to accumulate picks, mean we are trading down from #6, so no Chase.

No rush?  If we don't hire anyone until late February it's OK.

What is with him?  You don't want to have a staff together for pre-draft stuff (combine or not)?  He's delusional.

He doesn't want to be rushed.

 Exactly.

Aside from acknowledging we need to blow it up and rebuild, that was a train wreck of a press conference.

Howie makes bad picks but Lurie gives him a pass for being only a few picks away from great players and having a great process that got us to a full rebuild?

Barf.

Agreed. Otherwise the timing is complete lunacy.

I would hope so.  But like you said...I think Kafka might be it.  Either that or they really do go with Duce.

Things are about to get ugly.

Not shocking. The writing was on the wall at the end of last year and why some of us said to just tear it down and rebuild it all. It’s why Bpac, 4for4 and I all said it was going to be a 2-3 year rebuild until they were true SB contenders again and that’s if they got it right.

Well to be fair... Doesn't Howie deserve credit for identifying those really good players who end up being drafted before us?

Lurie seems to think so. Take it up with the guy who owns the team and is actually involved in the decision making process.
