I hate this take and talking point so much. They were a catch away from a first down outside the redzone. They needed to score a TD and struggled all game outside of the opening burst. And they could have scored and given Brees enough time to get into FG range to win. They were nowhere near the NFCCG. They lost the game and that's the only takeaway.

No beat reporter, no poster has been in the Eagle draft room.

Lurie has, for every draft, and I'm sure he knows what the scouts recommended, and what the coaches lobbied for.

If he thought Howie was the problem, and he didn't want to fire him, he'd kick him upstairs and bring in a "real GM." It's been done before.

Why would Howie defer to his coaches? Because you build a roster for your coaches, if you think they're wrong, get new coaches. We did.

I wish I had seen this before now... At least know that it brought a smile to one person's face. Actually teaching Taylor and Maclaurin in my BC Calc class at this time of year.

Lurie is now officially the biggest problem if it wasn't apparent. He's gone soft, has lost his way.

Bad situation. Lucky we got a SB, another isn't coming any time soon.

I don't read too much into this as the idea that Wentz wants to be traded if he's not the starter is a real possibility.  I also thinks it doesn't leave a new coach locked into to either Wentz or Hurts.  He wasn't really critical of Wentz at all.  

My overall takeaway is that they are going to a full on re-build next year.  He is not moving on from Howie but I don't think he really said that Howie's position will necessarily be the same.

Did he? What if he didn’t want to go short term? What if the coach was pushing to keep certain veterans and draft certain rookies because the coach felt they could help more in the short term?

We have zero insight into any of this. Lurie does.

Howie has admitted as much. He was ready to rebuild, then COVID came along, and they gambled in a weak division they could win out with a set coaching staff and roster.

After the draft, Brooks goes down, then Dillard goes down, and the season goes down with them.

Nor did it make a big difference, the contracts were already on the books, it was going to take two years to clear them out, but it's not an accident that Howie made sure he accumulated comp picks and ended up with 10 draft picks in 2020.
