All the negatives said here could apply to December 2015 when Lurie fired Chip. We had no QB, no cap space, Howie as GM, etc.

It worked out well.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

What's Lurie supposed to say?

"Howie is staying because he's an extension of me."

The truth. Howie is Lurie's secret love child who was conceived in a bathroom of Studio 54 after too much blow.

So Jalen Hurts was hurt against the Redskins. That’s what they’re going with.  LOL

What's he supposed to say?

"We all wanted him benched and we wanted to play Sudfeld.  Then Doug benched him, lost the team as a result so I had to fire him today."

Did he? What if he didn’t want to go short term? What if the coach was pushing to keep certain veterans and draft certain rookies because the coach felt they could help more in the short term?

We have zero insight into any of this. Lurie does.

Doug answers to Lurie and in all likelihood Howie. Lurie apparently just sits back and let’s everything unfold and somehow Howie is always right even though he constantly defers to others? Are we supposed to believe that?

Jeffrey came off as a pompous buffoon ass

He's a billionaire.  He's just keeping it real.

You're calling Adams a box safety?

Yes because that’s exactly what he is

Jake Elliott- miss

Yep.  That contract is the poster child for terrible.   We are stuck with him, because of the cap implications.   What GM that has a clue locks himself into a KICKER after 2 years.

He missed on EVERY SINGLE ONE.

Alshon Jeffery (post Super Bowl) - miss,
Mike Wallace - miss,
Desean Jackson - miss,
Malik Jackson - miss,
Golden Tate - miss,
Gerard Avery - miss,

What move worked?  Was there one?   Other than Jordan Mailata and maybe Dallas Goedert, what moves were good?

The coaches wanted all those misses. Howie wanted the couple that worked.

It's not important, but IMO it's the worst contract on the roster.

He only brought up Duce because he was asked about minority coaches.  So do you see Duce as a black guy or a good coach first?

Yeah it only worked out well cause the giants were able to pull the rug out from under us and get mcadoo to be the HC as he was on the way to the linc to become our head coach. We are literally a phone call away by the giants from still not having a Lombardi trophy

Yep.  Worst kind of fan.

Coming from you and your buddy, I take that as a compliment.

I never in my life said, "My other team".  My team's always been the Eagles.  I pay attention to the Eagles 90%+ of the time up until they are eliminated from contention.  Then I'll follow some other games/teams (like normal football fans do) for entertainment.

You guys should get out a little more...beautiful world out there with some really awesome people.

I thought you left, bandwagon.

You really need new material.  I think I was 12 years old last time I used that phrase.

Please, no Bienemy or Kafka. Enough of the Reid tree BS.

Please, no Duce. I like Duce more than most and think he deserves a shot somewhere. We need an outsider though.

Please, bring in a young offensive mind like Brady or Riley, or at the very least a Brian Daboll who has helped develop an NFL QB and make him better.

yeah, those were pathetic answers.  How dare Dallas take CeeDee Lamb.  Now we don't have a shot at Justin Jefferson.

But that's his job. He just has to find better coaches to listen to.

No.  His job is to listen to his coaches and then make a decision about whether or not that is a good and prudent move.

And who's responsible for the amount of money he's thrown around and how he's written contract structures that lock the team into these contracts?  Did Doug tell Howie to put empty years on the back end of the contracts with guaranteed dead hits?   Did the coaches tell Howie to extend players already under contract to bigger deals, when they didn't have to make the moves?

The GM's job is to listen and evaluate.  If he evaluates that they can't afford something, then he needs to say, "No".  That's his job.

So what’s the end game here? If Howie is always right, why does he keep deferring? Is Lurie somehow the only guy in the building who knows this?

You guys will soon see...as evidenced today....Roseman is Lurie's voice.  They are attached at the hip.

The irony is that everyone who has been bashing Howie all year has also been (indirectly) bashing Lurie.

Yup. Lurie was asked about minority hiring and also hiring from within so Lurie first mentioned Duce

I don't want Duce as a HC or OC

I'd choose Chiefs OC over Duce

All that matters moving forward is a complete tear-down. Please punt on 2021 and do the complete rebuild.

Some of us on here have been bashing Lurie directly and for good reason.  He just showed the world why today.  I've never felt more hopeless as an Eagles fan.

It absolutely is... because out of a very small number of guys, most kickers are interchangeable parts.  As a matter of fact, they found Elliott out of an emergency situation where Sturgis was injured and they needed a new kicker ASAP.  Finding Elliott in the first place is only a half a win for Howie, because they were content to start the season with Sturgis, even after Elliott was cut by the Bengals before he was signed to the PS.

Complete rebuild would be with a new GM. This is half-assing it

The good thing is that we will not need to deliberately tank.

He'll be on the board and they will take Trey Lance.

I’ll say it right now — if Wentz ends up being traded and the Eagles end up with Hurts as QB, I’ll have both fingers crossed that Lance will be a draft option
