Possibly no combine....good job Eagles. Damn it! We picked the wrong year to quit drinking! We picked the wrong year to quit sniffing glue! We picked the wrong year to tank!

Goedert COULD be looking at $60 million after next year. I would much rather get something back instead of watching him walk. A top 5 salary tight end is not the difference in this team being good or not. With Ertz most likely on his way out they need someone to fill the void. Goedert is an excellent player you can't let go. He's a young complete TE. Hard to say what he'll get because he isn't in the Kittle/ Kelce conversation. I think he'll get something around the 40 to 45 mil range. Cap situation will work itself out when they start cutting the fat of old washed up players.

I never insisted he'd bust and I missed the boat on him for sure...but NCAA yardage is just white noise. Megatron didn't top 1,000 yards until his 3rd year as a starter. Metcalf never did anything. Devonta Smith, Jamar Chase, and Jordan Matthews put up those numbers from the training room between plays. If you're in the right system, get the right targets, and play enough games, you'll have better numbers than the actual right prospect. And I'm not saying that Chase and Smith won't be immensely successful, but I do think they'll be overdrafted due to being gears in the machine with NFL talent playing overwhelmed defenses. This draft, as in previous years, will probably feature a lucky team(s) that plucks a more athletic WR from round 2 who is just as good, if not better than the guys at the very top. Tylan Wallace and Tamarrion Terry get no respect from the TDN draft game right now. Rashod Bateman last year was talked about like the potential #1 WR in the draft at times during the season. Chase, and to a larger extent, Bateman is completely forgotten right now probably due to sitting out. Chris Olave balls every week and hasnt picked up much steam in the draft community. The PSU nobody that busted on to the scene this year, Jahan Dotson, with a ton of awesome plays might be a great later pick. Marquez Stevenson might be appropriately ranked but could be really good. Surrat and Coxie are not your cup of tea but might be really good mid round guys. Nice slot prospects like Kadarius Toney, Whop Philyor, JD Spellman Charleston Rambo is a guy people noticed last year while trying to watch Lamb. Nobody is talking about him this year. Seems like a player with really good speed too. Havent even mentioned the #2 guys at Clemson and LSU, Amari Rodgers and Terrence Marshall. Both very good. I feel like I can keep going... and this is all off the top of my head before Ive really done any research on this draft class to find out about all the guys I havent heard of yet. Its an incredible class. Id be excited to have Chase or Smith, but I dont need either one of them at all. I dont always like saying to pass on the top guys because of a deep class. But in this case, this years WR class is so good, I wouldnt mind passing on those guys one bit. Id love 2-3 WRs out of this class but dont need a 1st rounder. Youll get a 1st rounder in the 3rd round of this draft.

Richard Rogers showed he's a capable player this year when both Ertz and DG were hurt. I really think you can run next year with DIck Rod/mid round pick and maybe some magic happens with one of the big project TE's they have now.

January 12, 20214 yr What blows my mind about Lurie/Howie....Jeff doesn't even challenge Howie to say we need to be smarter at contracts or we need to draft better and do a better job scouting. He legit thinks Howie is doing really well. That's infuriating.
January 12, 20214 yr 58 minutes ago, austinfan said: One reason Lurie is being evasive is it's not his MO to throw his ex-employees under the bus, they certainly could have reamed Riddick for example. So he's not going to come out and say Howie and/or the scouts were right, but we went with what our coaches wanted (i.e., they're idiots). But if Lurie saw Howie make bone head mistake after bone head mistake, he'd be fired or pushed upstairs with no authority over personnel or the draft. Lurie wants to win. And when he talks about the process being fine, I think he means just that, the scouts make good recommendations, the draft board is solid, so you just need better HC and assistant coaches. Our secondary this year could have been Poyer, McLeod and Rowe at S, Sullivan, Darby, Douglas, Jones and Maddox at CB - Howie got all these guys, the coaches screwed it up. We could have had Agholor as our deep threat, in which case we probably take Jefferson over Reagor. Pederson is the one who tried to make him a slot WR, Gruden turned him into a deep threat. As far as the contracts, look at the 2017 roster and you realize there's at best a 3 year window, so Howie went all in - had he had better luck (Wentz, Jerrigan, Malik and Wallace staying healthy)and better coaching, it might have paid off. This past season was a clusterf---, but it really didn't make much difference in terms of rebuilding, the contract damage had already been done, and Howie didn't make things worse, he just put off the day of reckoning for a season. Lol. They threw Doug under the bus by leaking reports to make for an easier firing. This is what the Eagles do.

I wouldn’t put that in stone either. I think Lincoln Riley can win with a multitude of quarterbacks. Baker Mayfield isn’t Jalen hurts with his legs, he can run and he got the most out of Baker Mayfield. I think they like Lincoln Riley because they believe he’s innovative and can bring something next level to the Eagles that Lurie didn’t get with Doug. It’s kind of why I’m curious to see how high on the list Joe Brady is. Joe Brady is considered new age kingsbury/mcvay mold but very young. Not sure they go with him because he doesn’t have enough experience yet but I wouldn’t be surprised if they like him a lot if he interviews and if he does after his interview interesting that Berman in the BWF podcast said two guys banner would go after in a podcast last year was rhule and Ryan day.
January 12, 20214 yr Smith is great, but wanting him over Chase is recency bias. Chase did all this same stuff last year, but better. More impressive physique too.
