They all have close connections to ex-Eagle coaches who went through the Howie/Lurie buzzsaw. The timing is so weird. It makes you think they didn’t want to fire Doug, but maybe Lurie was just buying time to see if his top choice or two had interest. If he can pull off one of the top candidates I’d be pretty shocked. This job sucks. We already said it’s a rebuild. We don’t have extra picks or lots of cap space to build with. We don’t have a GM that’s drafted well. Our owner is meddlesome. Our QB is broken and the Hurts isn’t an exciting prospect for a good candidate.

The SEC would play if there were aliens and AI robots trying to kill us all because what else would they do? Big 10 should change their name to the Great Lakes Conference and the Big 12 should change to the Great Plains Conference. Actually, the Big 10 has 14 teams in it... Maryland and Rutgers were teams #13 and #14. Nebraska was #12. PSU was #11. Pac-8, became the Pac-10 when they added the Arizona teams, and now the Pac-12 (Utah and Colorado).
January 12, 20214 yr Feel bad for the refs here...head up kid breaks his neck. He went for the chest IMO and it's an angle where you can't do much. Surtain lost there...first play towards him. This game is giving me nothing on him so far.

I dont think hes going to hire a coach, and force Wentz on him. But I do think hearing a coach say his plan involves Wentz is going to be a pre-requisite for the job. If we pair up Riley and Jalen again, I hate it. If we let Riley see what he can do with an elite NFL QB talent (yes that means Wentz), I might be able to get excited.

January 12, 20214 yr https://www.inquirer.com/eagles/eagles-doug-pederson-press-taylor-jeffrey-lurie-howie-roseman-20210112.html This article makes Howie look so bad Quote The bottom line is that Pederson just got tired of being told what to do, particularly by Roseman, who often used Pederson to deflect criticism of his own mistakes. Quote Pederson talked to an NFL coaching colleague and friend right after being told to fire Groh. "He asked me what I thought he should do,” the coach said. "I said, ‘You won the Super Bowl two years ago. You should’ve said, if you’re going to break up my coaching staff, then just let me go.’ I told him he needed to fight for Groh and shouldn’t take it. "But that’s not Doug. He never wants to make waves. For better or worse, that’s who he is. One of the reasons Howie was so happy to hire him was because he knew he could do whatever he wanted to do and Doug would go along with it.”

If this was a competent organization that did things the correct and easy way, I'd agree the timing is weird. But its the Eagles, so, I fully expect them waiting until Mid February like Lurie said and get whatever table scraps are left.

I expected Howie to somehow land Lawrence. Even if it took a huge trade to #1. Since Doug is gone, I think Wentz is still our franchise guy. I suspect that was a big part of the split too.

Dougs answer of run it all back was probably not good enough. Like Kempski said, fans may not like it but Lurie forked over a $50+ million check to Wentz. I doubt he's inclined to sell him for pennies on the dollar. And I don't care about his "owner shouldn't decide" answer today. It's BS.
