Probably true.

Considering how weird this draft season could be, I definitely could see a team take Smith top 8 or so. He seems awfully safe.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

Stingley is in here. Number 1 corner next year.

I give DeVonta Smith a TON of credit.  He could have come out last year, decided to go back and try to win the NC.  He goes out and puts on a stellar performance, wins the Heisman and puts an exclamation point on it tonight.

Meanwhile, Chase sat home all year and watched from his couch.  There's really no way to put Chase over Smith at this point.  Chase had one year of production, he could be a one year wonder... and he's a year removed from the game.  Meanwhile, Smith looked like he might have been the best WR for Alabama last year, and just did nothing but but a stamp on that this year to be the best WR in the nation.

I don’t blame Chase for sitting out given why was going on with the pandemic.  Clearly Smith has done nothing but help his position. Chase is going to work out and shows he’s not just taken this year off but has worked hard to improve himself. Sure he could be a one year wonder but he was considered a better wr last season than Jefferson.

I have a Devonta Smith NFL comp for you.   Same crisp route runner.  Volume catcher and big play WR.  On the slight side but not blazing fast.   Only difference is, this guy came from a small college program and then turned crazy and ruined his career.

Any guesses?

At this point last year, many in the Blog said Chase would have been the WR1 in last year’s draft.

With Pederson/Taylor, I was completely out on Smith. He would've had 3 concussions by week 8. But now? I wouldn't mind him at all if Chase is off the board.

He was a stud as a freshman too.

I am probably in the minority but I would still take Chase over Smith.

How would he get concussed when we don’t run slants or crossers?

Hire the Sark especially now that Quinn might be in Dallas.

I have a gut feeling they're going to trade back as well. It's the smart move when you look at this roster and see how old and devoid of talent they are.

However, there is no way they can feel comfortable going into next season with this WR group.

It’s honestly what they should’ve done last year at 21 knowing that Jefferson was still on the board. If you didn’t like Jefferson that’s fine but the value in that 21st pick was Jefferson and there were a lot of teams that thought he was one of the top three wide receivers in the draft. Could have made the trade out of 21 to get extra picks knowing the value teams behind them for jefferson

sure. he already had this reputation because he was very good. But... he was a freshman.

Agreed on all points... but I think Smith passed him.  Chase didn't really hurt his position, but he didn't help it.  Smith definitely helped his position.

Texas hired him last week

You would hope that’s how they feel but there’s no telling.

True. Just fun to watch battles. Both will be making big plays in the league.

They would have taught him how to mistime his run and bang into his own players during a reverse or jet sweep.

At the time, Smith would have gone after Chase, Ruggs, Jeudy, and Lamb....and Reagor.  We definitely would have taken Reagor.  And Minnesota probably takes Jefferson.

Is it confirmed the combine isn’t happening this year or is this just speculation?

And Chase was a sophomore. Not sure the point here. When you’re good, you’re good.
