However...it’s very clear that Lurie did not initially plan to fire Doug. He wasn’t a black Monday casualty. He met with the media side by side with Howie. Doug got fired in a semi delayed fashion because he would not go along with Lurie’s specific plan, not because he "deserved to be fired.” Lurie’s exact words. The entire premise of his preamble in the conference was a giant contradiction. Lurie filibustered his way out of any tough questioning

January 12, 20214 yr Roseman must personally lick Lurie's junk every night. Not only does he suck at player selection and salary cap management but he also blows at hand selecting assistants to force upon his Super Bowl winning coach. Lurie did the exact opposite of what he needed to do. Yeah, maybe Doug didn't call a good game all year. Or maybe he had a bunch of different voices that he didnt trust in his ear. Or maybe the bums that Howie fielded can't play. I would have rolled with the football guy instead of the guy that literally sucks at every aspect of his job but that is just me
January 12, 20214 yr I'd like to see Saban back in the NFL. It's a different era now than when he coached the Dolphins. What else does he have to prove in college?

Inexcusable. If he wasn’t willing to give that up, I can see Lurie and he being at a stalemate. Maybe he was giving him a chance to concede those duties and he wouldn’t.

Mosher, caplan, McManus all have reported that’s like his favorite thing about being a head coach. He was never going to give that up. I’m guaranteeing at some point in the year the Eagles asked him to give it up entirely and he gave a little too press Taylor. Ultimately he didn’t want to give it up completely then when you add on he likely thinks he could get another job elsewhere where he picks his own staff and gets too keep playcalling duties it made sense for him to want out. I think the staff he gave to Lurie was a power ultimatum move. He knew they weren’t going to be cool with that staff and by doing so he knew they would say it’s time to go our separate ways.

Lurie wanted JJAW and Doug wanted Hurts and Reagor. Howie wanted to sign Robby Anderson but Matt Burke wanted Javon Hargrave. And Schwartz wanted Mills and McLeod back and convinced Howie to pass on Chinn. And Josina Anderson wanted Howie to restructure Alshon so he agreed. We can’t blame a guy whose open to listening to other voices.
January 12, 20214 yr Fields cemented that no QB outside of Lawrence is worth #20 or higher tonight. Obviously the position will push them up, but it's a terrible class. Lawrence included.

Lawrence included. I wasn’t high on fields before tonight. I just don’t love him as a franchise QB. I think Wilson is ok. I’m not in love with him either. I actually think there’s a chance he moves ahead of fields. Ive seen some mocks have him ahead of fields. to be honest if I was going to take a chance on any of the other three QBs behind Trevor Lawrence I would go with trey lance. Lance is not anywhere close to where I think he needs to be to be a day 1 starter at quarterback in the nfl. I think he’s the type of guy you sit for a year. I think sitting behind a guy like bridgewater in Carolina for a year would help. He needs to improve as a passer. But I can see if you have a very good quarterback developer being a lot like Josh Allen where overtime if you improve upon his accuracy he can be a really good starting QB. I think he could be that type of player for you but it’s going to take 2-3 years to get to that point. I would bet at some point in this draft process some draft expert/analyst is going to say he’s got the tools to be like Patrick Mahomes. I don’t think he’s ever gonna be that good but Analysts will push that

With the enormous pressure on the Eagles for passing up probowl WRs, I don’t think they’ll be able to actually trade out of a position with Chase on the board. They’ll be aware that if Chase goes to the probowl as a rookie, novacare is gonna look like the US capitol last week. The Eagles truly do not care about that stuff. They are going to have a plan and implement it, for better or worse.

Getting injured is part of the boxes they check. not just an injury, but an injury that prevents him from playing that position effectively for the rest of his 2 1/2 year nfl career. IF we draft him, he'll look AMAZING running routes and separating from db's... but for some reason he'll never be able to catch a pass, even wide open with no one in sight, and the ball hitting him in the hands. it's the eagle way. then someone from tate will bring up when he got injured in the national championship and point out that it was his hand. after his 2 1/2 year career, he'll be interviewed and say that after the injury, he just was never able to grip or catch the ball effectively. that is our luck. meanwhile chase is making the case to be the next megatron. BUT if we draft chase, he'll make the case to be the next JJAW, while smith makes a 100% comeback and starts making rookie receiving records along with piling on some touchdowns along the way. this is also our luck. p.s. who are we kidding? howie's preparing to draft an undersized linebacker from nowhere u 6th overall.

Whether he could reach a contract agreement with Riley could be another question, though. Riley already makes millions at OU, and Lurie couldn’t ever come to financial terms with Dick Vermeil to bring him back.

As much as I would like to believe Lincoln Riley could be our next head coach I just can’t fathom he’s going wanna leave Oklahoma for the Philadelphia Eagles who are currently 60 million over the cap, have a quarterback dilemma and have an old expensive roster. I just think he’s going to stay at Oklahoma rather than come here. I just think this is going to come down to daboll, Mike Kafka and Duce when all is said and done. I wouldn’t mind Riley at all i think he’s a a good young coach. I do not think he’s chip Kelly coming from college.
January 12, 20214 yr Want to know for how long and for what reasons Wentz had a bug up his a** with DP. At first I was defensive about Wentz being pulled but by the end I could see Hurts gave us a better chance to win and any play could be a big one, so a former rose colored glasses Wentzer. If Wentz has lost his "escapability” PERMANENTLY which is needed to extend plays, time to move on. Could also take a lesson on how to sell when running play action from Baker Mayfield, move slow when you are keeping and speed up when giving DP set trends for going more often on 4th, the 2 pt conversion and deferring. He also kept the team playing with less quit
