They just might be as bad as they seem this time.

Good chance it's actually worse than as it seems.

I turned 38 today and have lost 52lbs since February. I’m very rarely ever proud of myself, but I’m feeling pretty proud today and thought I’d share. Carry on.

  • At this point, I’d like to see a former HC on the staff, but the biggest coaching news left is whether Stout stays.  BOOOOOOOOM

It’s probably a very similar situation but didn’t Jenkins publicly say that he wouldn’t play on that contract? So Jenkins, like Ertz, wanted out for more money - which is fine as that’s a business decision. What I don’t get (and what Jenkins didn’t do) is why Ertz is crying and behaving like he has no control over whether or not he is coming back. Unless I missed something, I’d think Howie would bring him back under his current contract.

I’m guessing howie would want to lower his cap number next year due to the cap issues the eagles have going forward.

i think it’s more of a realization he’s likely done playing in philly cause they don’t want to give him a new contract anymore. I think initially it was the eagles wanting him back at the right price hence the contract they gave him. I’m not so sure that’s the same anymore. The eagles might now just view him as a better trade asset then on their roster and aren’t willing to give him an extension anymore.

FWIW, Mosher and Caplan don’t think Doug is a lock to be back. They think he’ll be back, but they think if the meeting goes sour and they can’t come to an agreement about what is best for the team, things could change. There’s a possibility Doug wants something different than Lurie and Howie.

Caplan said he’s hearing Doug is amenable to coaching staff changes but not everything.

Mosher thinks Doug will stand firm in that he wants his offense installed and wants to run it his way without outside voices influencing it.

Caplan said there’s tremendous friction between Doug and Wentz, and Wentz doesn’t have the support he needs in the organization.

Evidently Doug is too stupid to be aware of it

Definitely need more 12 personnel.  Let's trade up for Pitts.

I think he realizes that he will be traded if possible. I think he and Roseman have had a "conversation".

Good point. Roseman is now our version of Jerry and Snyder. As long as they are around good luck having success

Fam we've been to the playoffs 3 years before this with a superbowl run. Do you know how many teams would trade their 2017-2019 with us? Yes this year has been awful but to say there's no chance of success going forward, you should just stop watching then cause you've conceded already.

If a GM doesn't want to draft Sewell, Chase, Lance, etc for sitting out, he should be fired.

The owner is the problem.  No owner should be able to tolerate listening to that.  People flip out on Sixer and Phillies owners for toleration of far more palatable crap shows than this.

If Howie and Doug return... it might actually be worse.   :o

One more thing that just jumped out at me during the PC.

Howie: "Look, I've been here for 20 years." and "No, I'm not worried about my job."

UGH.

Both are problems...

Doug is from the AR school

he will never ever criticize a player publicly. What doug lacks is taking the blame himself like AR could

Our WRs were better than last season. Don’t try to blame a rookie WR for the faults of Wentz.

Technically they weren't. The TEs last year were better than the WRs this year. The WRs sucked last season. They weren't whole a lot better this season though

But they could potentially need to be making franchise defining decisions on Hurts this offseason. They wanted to lose but they also wanted to get Hurts as many snaps as possible to assist in the evaluation. 3 and 3/4 games isn't enough but every snap helps.

I have zero issue with what Doug did last night. Ideally WAS would have blown us away by then. And be a 1pm game. But WAS sucks. So we are where we are. The rest of the league can kick up a fuss with their double standards but until someone takes away a draft pick, who cares?

I think Skins would have blown us out us if they had a better QB. Smith wasn't attacking the nonexistent secondary

Honestly the eagles suck. Just take the best available player (except RB). Don’t worry about position as your entire team is bad so you could use help at like nearly every position.

You say that until they take a TE at 6 lol

So are we still to believe that Lurie will have his meetings with Howie and Doug tomorrow?  Please don't treat us like we are that dumb.

Don't know how you keep Howie and Doug even after those PCs

Am I the only person who finds Ertz’s so called "emotional” presser bizarre? He’s behaving like he is about to hit free agency even though he still has a year left on his deal and is the party (reportedly) demanding a pay raise or a trade.

You say you love this city so much but you want to either be paid like (at least) the third best TE in football or be traded to another city. That seems nonsensical to me.

I understand wanting a pay raise - makes total sense to most folks. But getting all emotional about leaving when it sounds like it’s a decision that you are actively forcing is weird.

Anyone can look at the tape and see the lack of effort on a bunch of plays

Same with Alshon

I didn’t say there was no chance I said good luck. Howie admitted today he fights the little voice in his head that urges him to make sound decisions.

Criticizing is one thing. Admitting that you need to repair a relationship or flat out saying you aren't aware of anything is a different matter.

I like to amend my statement form March where i said this was a two year rebuild to getting back to being a SB contender. If both are back, wentz and Hurts are back then this is a 3 year rebuild. Cause they d**ked around for a year knowing that 2021 was likely going to be a rough season due to the cap situation they are currently in and one draft class isn’t fixing all these issues

You're right you didn't say "no chance" my bad. But I still feel like we've had success before no reason we can't again. People need to adapt. Howie needs to stop fighting that voice in his head. But I'm not ready to assume next year will be trash too. Let's just see how the offseason shakes out and we can be doom and gloom if it looks that way.

You dont air internal dirty laundry when you are the leader

Thing is had Hurts thrown the ball better we might have actually gone ahead on that play.

When Doug won the Super Bowl the overall thought was that he was going to be a beloved legend... don’t think that’s happening anymore.

Why is nobody blaming the TV folks for flexing us? As soon as that happened I thought they didn't know we had no chance of the playoffs. That game had 1pm written all over it

As an aside, I'm curious as to why this seems to only matter with Chase. And not even here, it's everywhere he's being discussed. Sewell, Parsons, Farley, Rousseau, Wyatt Davis all opted out too along with other guys but no one seems to care about that.

False.  Wyatt Davis did not opt out.  He's played in all 7 games.

The rest of them... yeah, I've questioned anyone who opts out of even a bowl game, let alone an entire season.

You don't lie either. He could have said what goes on between me and Carson will be kept between us.

I'm glad it's getting this negative press. I think it's crap because  every team does it but if it gets Lurie to fire Howie then I'm all for it

I’m still waiting for their article ok how it was wrong that the jags and Jets basically ranked seasons trying to get Lawrence. They were all about the Jets and jags doing that this year in their coverage. Literally the jags got destroyed by the bears week 16 before they ultimately secured Lawrence. Week 17 vs. colts they are in the game until late 4th. If the eagles tanking bothered them they really should have the same issues with the jags
